I was one of the few people who always ran plays in 2K10. I don't really care how many times you talk about 1 play and how many times you show it to us. To me, that's Kobe dunking on Shaq... lol a thing of beauty... Keep it up man!

Love the graphics in the intro.. Very ESPN-like.. and yeah mad props on Sage... He killed it!

Hey Czar,

Thanks for all the vids. Highly appreciate that. I'm really enjoying the Lamar sequence, I think others are agreeing with that. Also the Manu and B.roy clips in the intro are blowing my mind.

Is there anything in particular that you have seen yourself that just astonishes you?

EA is claiming that if it's in the game...welll you know what I'm saying. I'm not a ***** and I'm still excited to play the Elite demo but man seeing kobe and Lamar go to work is truly a thing of beauty. My gripe with 2k is the controls, How do they feel? I know I can find out on tuesday but I want hear it from somebody elses point of view.

Czar,

Question, fam. Since you mentioned that Lamar has his own plays, were you able to see if the Wing Reverse play for Lamar made it to the game? Please see video below to know what I'm referring about. Thanks, fam.

out of all the weak sliding complaints this is the only one i can roll with....i agree he should have way longer arms or at least shrink his head a bit so it will at least give that illusion of longer arms...

Durant needs longer arms as well...he's really lanky looking...

Wow. The AI has been taken to another level. This video shows so many great CPU things that weren't in last year.

They completely nailed Lamar Odum, they have him down perfectly.

nice vid czar, i have some questions if you dont mind, maybe u can answer them if u can of course. i write some things down i would like to know if they changed from 2k10 to 2k11

my biggest problems with 2k10 were:

off.rebounds - in the NBA an avg. of about 10-15 is achieved but i couldn't get it anywhere realistic in 2k10, have u seen changes ? its an important topic imo cuz its directly related to PIP

blocks - while it was kind of easy to block a jumpshot it was way harder to see regular blocks in the paint mainly cuz there was mostly used one animation and players used often the wrong direction and hand to attempt a block. in real life teams avg. 5-10 blocks a game (in the paint ofc) ... not in 2k10

and1's - waaaay to many were completed in 2k10, but if you lower the slider to much players miss open layups to often, whats your impressions with 2k11 ?

lead passes directly in the key under the basket, my cpu teammates standing there and just watching and not defending with fight for position and deflections, have u seen changes ?

i think thats enough for one post ^^ hope u can say something to this points cuz they are really bugging me and if they can get these things right while having a much improved spacing i could maybe finally play an entire season to the end without getting a stroke

peace out

The "dumb" defense comment is definitely valid. Although it is way too early to make any claims about this years game. At higher levels, your own teammates got worse. So seeing some stuff happen on PRO leaves many with some doubts.. It almost has me waiting on a first day purchase.

Theres a very thin line between great CPU offensive execution, and just flat out terrible CPU teammates giving away baskets. That balance is tough

I appreciate the time and effort man...I just spent 2 hours editing something for work so I know it can be a tedious process....keep up the good work and I look forward to more vids..
24th I really appreciate hearing that man. TEDIOUS is the word fam. I see you feel my pain. How about when you think your finished and find an issue right in the middle that throws all the timing and everthing off.HAHAH bonus hour and half right there....

Moe game development is a process of steps from what I am learning. You can't fly before you learn to walk. IE them making last years play dynamic wouldn't have helped at all.

I have showed you 3 teams with 3 completely different play styles. They fully committed to the individualization of the teams this year to a degree no one ever has. Let's digest this first and then look for the next evolution of this part of the game.

For now it's up to you to mix up your play calls to put your scorers in different position. ALso if you include the ability they have to run any play for any player. There are a ton of ways for you to disguise where your going with the ball.

Great videos Da_Czar, really appreciate them.
Any chance of seeing some Blazers footage too ?

In general, if there are some quirks carried over from 2k9/10 I wouldn't mind you mentioning them. This would help to keep expectations down on earth a bit .

You know what that is a hell of a question. I showed you all the "lamar" type plays in the lakers default playbook.... But don't forget these crazy dudes at 2k put in authentic plays for old skool phil bulls teams also.

There is a play in one of the classic bulls teams for Kukoc that has that same action. But I think he comes from the other side of the floor. So it is the same action but he starts in a different location.

Great question if you mix a match some of the old and new bulls/ lakers plays you will have a pretty good combination. Gawd I wish I had the game.. They went IN on the classic teams plays. I'm not talking about just having 3-4 classic plays per team. more like 15-20 and they are not rehashes of the current teams plays.

PLEASE 2k send me my game NOW !!!! LOL

How did you guys do Miami's playbook?

# 154 RubenDouglas @ 09/11/10 09:47 AM
Did 2k10 have custom playbooks and the ability to assign those playbooks to "HOME/AWAY" ie CPU teams? I never got that in depth with the game. I spent hundreds of hours on custom arena music and just a few dozen on playing. I'm thinking of reversing that trend this year

With so many plays, it wouldn't take long to create an even more in depth playbook

I want to be careful answering this. I have said a few times that it's still 2k. Its still not perfect. There are still going to be some things that bother some people despite all the advances the game has made. Yet the advances are undeniable.

So with everything that can detract from the game aside. I have simply found 2k11 to give me some of the most authentic "basketball" moments I have had in a video game. Please see above again...

TO ME it wasn't about did Kobe shuffle or take 3 steps. It was about how in the hell am I going to stop him and Pau... It was who can I leave on the 12 island to give that strong side help. It was about the fact that when I played the Bucks they had different sets with a different concern for me defensively.

When I play the spurs it was how can I keep duncan off the block and can I find a defensive free agent PF in time for the second half....

Then I played the Warriors and they presented a whole different set of issues for me to deal with on both ends of the floor. Does that mean that there were no warps or slight sliding here or there ? NO. But until there is a game that completely eliminates those issues they will always be apparent.

The question for me is did this happen at a rate that completely took away my enjoyment from the game or cheesed me out of victory. In my limited time with the game I have to say no.

BUT I wasn't just playing as you guys will get to play. I had the thoughts of what the community is going to want to know, what questions will they want answered, as well as trying to plan out this feature and staying focused on getting exactly what I needed to capture to make a coherent show.

So I am in no position to help guys make certain their one particular grievance was completely solved. Who could do that with so much on their plate and so little time to really play ?

So considering all of that. I am still very very impressed with the gameplay of nba 2k11. There are some people who like to nitpick a thing to death I am not one of those people. But I can appreciate when a company throws everything but the kitchensink into a game. When that happens you know it wasn't a lack of effort that something was not fixed.

Its often said but seldom understood they have less than a year to make these games. Not everything is going to be perfect.

they could have went from 80 plays to 160 and put on the back of the box that they DOUBLED the amount of plays and did that for the next 4 years... they didn't do that. They doubled the amount of plays that ANY basketball game has ever had and some folks are still not happy.... LOL .... WOW !!!

Hey I don't have enough experience with the game to answer those with confidence I can say that in my time with the game lead pass completions was not an issue. BUT I am no cheeser.

Your cpu teammates actually help you on defense. Will that be enough for everyone ? I certainly can NOT say. The playbooks are legitimate though.

Thank you Blazer are on the table its just a matter of if I have enough quality footage that makes it through approvals that can make a descent show out of.

This game looks Re-Donkulous.

A little late to the party but another top notch production from Da_Czar. I'm not a Lakers fan and the triangle looks fun to use.
