NBA 2K11 News Post

Check out what Ronnie Singh, Community Manager at 2K Sports has to say about NBA 2K11, including a demo announcement coming tomorrow, as well as Playstation Move and gameplay details.

Quote:
"For regular gameplay, we started with the single most important aspect in basketball: shooting. Our goal was for fast, responsive shooting, with no lag. All of the different types of jumps are in there: drifters, leaners, and fade-aways. Based on how your player is moving, simply flick the PlayStation Move motion controller up and you’ll spot up and shoot the appropriate jump shot. Similar controls are done for dunks and layups. Running towards the basket while holding the T button results in a dunk, as opposed to a layup if the T button isn’t pulled. Unlike the analog-stick-based controllers, you get flashy or power moves based on what is happening. Kobe running free on a breakaway? Pull up on the Move controller and witness an amazing flashy dunk. Garnett in the paint? Flick the PlayStation Move motion controller up and unleash a crushing dunk.

Well, I have probably gone on way past my time! I want to thank the people at PlayStation for giving me this time to tell you about NBA 2K11. Let me remind you to follow us on Facebook to see what’s the most new and exclusive info on the NBA 2K Franchise. As an added treat for you Sony fans, I would like to announce that the demo release date will be announced on the FB page tomorrow!"

great article, but playing with the ps move will be a waist of time to me, i prefer the controller, 360 controller at best, plus i never buy sport games on ps3 except mlb the show, great read though

Damn so on top of waiting for the videos from Czar we have to wait for this too?? The suspense is killing me haha.

By the way, i asked Ronnie if he thinks any extra Classic teams would be added to the game, and he replied:

"Hi bbolo,It’s most certainly possible. No more information is available at the time though. As always, classic teams are amazing, yet difficult. We have to reach out to every player on every team to get their licensing rights. It was quite amazing that we were able to get this much talent from generations past. When I see Cartwright and his crazy free throw routine on the Bulls, just makes me proud."

Doesn't the XBOX Live marketplace only add demos on Thursday's?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

But if that is the case. I'm praying that it will be next Thursday. September 16th.

Slam Dunk Contest with PlayStation Move
Mark Horsley, Gameplay Engineer, NBA 2K11: It was critical for us to showcase the full range of abilities of the PlayStation Move motion controller, so we started with the Slam Dunk Contest. The dunk contest input interface was significantly revamped for PlayStation Move, allowing the ability to pull off dunks much easier than in years past. When you get your hands on this mode with the PlayStation Move, start by pulling and holding the T button to pick up a ball from the ball rack. As your player runs towards the basket, start the gestures for the dunk you wish to perform. For analog-stick-based controllers, the input is done by twirling the stick. The stick commands translated naturally to gestures using the Move controller. A counter-clockwise circle on the stick translates to moving your hand in a counter-clockwise circle, and similarly translates for other commands. By completing a gesture while running towards the basket, and then quickly completing another gesture prior to takeoff, you choose which dunk you wish to perform. To complete the dunk, simply release the T button to time the release of the ball. Props are placed on the court by pressing the Triangle button on the Move controller, just like in years past with the standard controllers.

Not that the demo on both systems will necessarily drop on the same day..

But the PS3 store updates on Tuesdays. So the 21st again seems likely.. although I would love to see it on the 14th!

The PS Move stuff sounds good. I definitely want to try it, but it sounds like a huuuuuuge learning curve.

Alright, thanks for clearing that up, sir.

Well, in that case, let's just hope it's next week sometime . But knowing 2k, I forsee it being released the week before the game drops.

things are getting hyped around here.. people excited about an ANNOUNCEMENT of when a demo releases. Just the type of excitement that derails impression threads on the first day.

I doubt it. That was the old 2k way of doing things. This is a new 2k, as evidenced by their nearly, flawless marketing campaign of 2k11. I'm betting on the 17th. After FiFA but before Elite(I still keep thinking its called Live...lol).

Was it confirmed that the old Bulls teams are playable in Franchise mode? It says quick game again in this article!

The blog post notes that historic teams can be played in Quick Game mode, but doesn't mention anything about using them in Association. An oversight? I certainly hope so.

You can, but they have to replace a real team.
