NBA 2K11 News Post

Check out what Ronnie Singh, Community Manager at 2K Sports has to say about NBA 2K11, including a demo announcement coming tomorrow, as well as Playstation Move and gameplay details.

Quote:
"For regular gameplay, we started with the single most important aspect in basketball: shooting. Our goal was for fast, responsive shooting, with no lag. All of the different types of jumps are in there: drifters, leaners, and fade-aways. Based on how your player is moving, simply flick the PlayStation Move motion controller up and you’ll spot up and shoot the appropriate jump shot. Similar controls are done for dunks and layups. Running towards the basket while holding the T button results in a dunk, as opposed to a layup if the T button isn’t pulled. Unlike the analog-stick-based controllers, you get flashy or power moves based on what is happening. Kobe running free on a breakaway? Pull up on the Move controller and witness an amazing flashy dunk. Garnett in the paint? Flick the PlayStation Move motion controller up and unleash a crushing dunk.

Well, I have probably gone on way past my time! I want to thank the people at PlayStation for giving me this time to tell you about NBA 2K11. Let me remind you to follow us on Facebook to see what’s the most new and exclusive info on the NBA 2K Franchise. As an added treat for you Sony fans, I would like to announce that the demo release date will be announced on the FB page tomorrow!"

It probably won't happen but you may be able to release the classic players from their original team and move them to a current team. So you won't get the old uniforms or arena, but you may be able to move the entire 1995 Knicks roster to the 2010 one and go from there.

Hey Ronnie. Great write up!Have you guys taken into consideration different crowd atmospheres? Like playoff, hostile, dynamic attendance?

Ronnie's Response:
I addressed this a little earlier. The answer is yes. But I want to let our Presentation Insight (dropping within couple weeks) address this fully.

Hopefully the rights expired but I seriously doubt it ... I am leaning toward a way of him describing (in a more universal known way) that feature within the blacktop mode.

I think they were talking about their regular blacktop mode dunk contest.

I wish 2k had the rights to FIBA.

when are we going to actually have pure competition, where companies are not having to get exclusive rights, just to beat out their opponents

From reading that quote, I got the idea that they were referring to the blacktop mode as well.

Stll don't get how guys think EA has rights to NBA All-Star weekend. That's like saying they have the rights to the playoffs and Finals. If EA had rights to All-Star I'm almost certain that would mean 2K wouldn't be able to have a Sprite Slam Dunk contest. Pretty sure NBA 09 wouldn't have had the All-Star Weekend Skills challenge in it. Why guys aren't implimenting it right? Don't know but I doubt it is because of EA having the rights to it.

I agree big time bro games like madden would still be relevant if nfl 2k was still around

Your right! I wish people would get that out of there heads. The ASW was included in the NBA License deal. You know when the NBA decided to split up the rights.

Nice to see that custom soundtracks for NBA2K11 are added to the PS3

# 59 idrisguitar @ 09/08/10 05:29 PM
does this mean they will be in the PC version as well now?

willthe pc version be 100% the same as the console version? if so im guessing now they will have this feature.

Damn this sucks if you are correct. Playing a franchise with the 91 Lakers was the one thing I was most excited about.

What's even MORE disappointing is that a couple weeks ago a good friend played 2K11 (he's a video game reviewer for a newspaper), and I specifically asked him whether we could take classic teams into franchise mode. He said we definitely could. That leads me to believe the feature may have been pulled late in the development process.

This is all speculation of course, but it doesn't look good from where I sit.
