The new NBA 2K11 Developer Insight is online. This one talks about My Player mode.

"This is Erick Boenisch again, Producer for NBA 2K11 although many of you may know me by my forum name, SimBaller. I spoke a few weeks back about MJ: Creating a Legend. I’m here today to talk to you about the My Player mode and some of the exciting changes we have made to it this year. NBA 2K10 saw the birth of My Player, the first true career mode experience ever for the NBA 2K series. With one year of this mode under our belts, we’ve learned quite a bit; things like what works, what doesn’t work, and what you all want to see in the mode this year. Enough chatter, let’s dive into what NBA 2K11’s My Player is all about…"
Yeah he does. I wonder if 2K actually got him for the voice over lol.

They really haven't left no stone unturned, and we've yet to hear about the online, NBA Today, and Association mode which they've said have made huge strides in their own rights? They really are trying to take away every reason not to own this game.
I like this post. It just makes you.... think, I guess. Wonder what 2K will bring with the remaining stuff they have left to announce?
The small details make the biggest difference and I'm glad they fixed up the ratings problem. I'll probably really give this mode a go because I felt it was too easy last year especially playing vs crappy AI, plus the online not working made me not try this mode after the first few weeks.
I wonder how long it will be before we start seeing the same questions being asked after each press conference over the years, or is there enough content that will last over the whole my player career mode.
I also hope I can't be a Superstar in just one years time like you could make yourself last year before the season was over.
My only concern is how is the substitution logic, last year game subbed you out every dead ball and sometimes played you out of position, for example you could be a sg or sf and the game puts you at center etc, this didnt only happen in myplayer i also saw it in association mode.
Is there an incentive for playing in Sim and a high difficulty, one of the things that I love about MyPlayer is that you can use them in Crew Games but if the majority of users are playing on casual or default on pro or all-star to rank up faster, why make the game harder.
I'll probably still play on Sim and Superstar, but I'm curious on how the skill points will be awarded in 2k11.
I think they should have two My Players. One strictly offline (where you can play it any way you want) and an offline one where you only gain skill points when playing online. That means everyone will start at the same point in the crew modes.
I know this would be double work (playing with a guy online, then another offline), but it's the only way I can think of to combat players trying to level up quickly.
And I ask again: What the hell will I play first? Is it association, my player, Jordan challenge, online? How am I supposed to play OTHER games when this one will take up all my time?
Are we really getting this much info from 2k as early as today? lol. I just wish my player will get money from playing and use that for boosting my character's stats through trainers and what not.
Very good insight. My only concern are below 65 overall players being starters but by having a sim superstar level that might be fixed

+1 and +2.
I hope they weren't so excited about the MyPlayer mode features once you get to the NBA that they made it easy to get there. Last year it was quite unrealistic to 1. crack the rotation, and 2. run the spot of an established player.
There will always be people w/ no lives who will play as long as it takes on Rookie/Arcade in order to max out their skills.
Yeah that would probably be the case. I just want playing harder difficulty and gamestyle to be more rewarding other than feeling fulfilled and happy about the sim experience. But I still prefer the latter.
I see a lot of people complaining about no contracts... Honestly? lol
So.. Tell me exactly what you're going to do with 50 million in guaranteed virtual money? Is the problem that you're concerned about longevity with a certain team? Because I'm almost certain that you can resign as many times as you want, barring your personality in the game is jack-***. Not real enough for you? I guess seeing bilboards and having signature shoes and press conferences is just some bull huh? Do you want the game to allow you to drive to the game as well? ( Actually thinking about it, that would be kind've boss lol )
Driving to the game actually would be pretty awesome...lol.. maybe on 2k14 or something, 2k11 is on it's way to being the best sports game ever... Madden who?
Driving to the games come on man, don't you think thats too much. I don't even like driving misses in GTA games let alone have to drive to the arena. Are you going to be on a bike with two hand guns and a shot gut in a guitar case. Or driving 130MPH in a highway in California.
This game is killing it this year. IT MAY be the biggest leap in a sports title we have seen in the last 5 years. Hopefully they don't release another bug filled game on day 1 this year...
