NBA 2K11 Issues "The Jordan Challenge" with 2 New Michael Jordan Screenshots

USA Today just announced "The Jordan Challenge" for NBA 2K11.

The games have been recreated to authentically mirror the appearance of arenas and players from that era. Among the Jordan highlights featured: -- 1990 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers. Jordan scored a career high 69 points in an 117-113 overtime win. -- 1992 NBA Finals. In Game 1 against the Portland Trail Blazers, Jordan scored 35 points in the first half, draining a record six 3-pointers. -- 1997 NBA Finals. Battling a stomach virus, Jordan scored 38 points in a pivotal Game 5 victory against the Utah Jazz."

I think for a peripheral to the game it's a nice announcement. Especially this early before the actual release of the game. But I agree on them needing to address the game's online capacity.

The core of the game will always have to be 2K basketball (something they do very well), but having this added to the mix is nice.

Like i said.. It's good.. Let me rephrase that.. It's a good start for a new feature.. I'm guessing they gonna ride on this Jordan thing for a few days or weeks.. But the next info i wanna hear is about the gameplay and online.. Yea like all of u i will put in a few hours in this mode.. But mayb cuz they hyped this up to be groundbreaking which it is not cuz it was obvious they was gonna have Jordan playable n most likely use classic bulls n maybe classic teams..

So hopefully they will talk about some new gameplay features like some improved defense, explain details about what they planning to improve online in general etc.. Good start 2k but we need to hear more then just Jordan n classic teams.. Ghost

Based on the screenshots given, the other players don't have jersey numbers.
Makes me wonder if some of the players are going to be generic because they couldn't get everyone from every team. That is pretty likely. I expect to see Pippen, Rodman, and some others. It could be too early to say. It is still going to be great though!

the jersey looks less floaty so thats a good sign

EDIT: so we can play as Jordan when he scored 55 on the Knicks? what if i want to play as the Knicks and try to keep him from scoring 55!!

You guys do know that Jordan didn't hit "The Shot" in that 69 point regular season game @ Cleveland right? "The Shot" was in a playoff game.

But on to what I wanted to say...I really hope we can use one of Jordan's Bulls teams against current teams. I only play with a created Bulls '98 Bulls team in NBA 2K10. As a matter of fact, I never even played NBA 2K10 without that created Bulls team. I want to take one or more of those Bulls teams into the regular season and play with them.

And on a side note...this isn't a big deal but it would be cool for Jordan to wear the (virtual) shoes in the classic match-ups that he wore in real life. Can 2K get the Air Jordan shoe? I know 2K10 had Jordan Brand models, but I'm talking about THE Air Jordan models (like EA Sports has). And hopefully they'll have the Air Jordan XI available--the best basketball shoe ever.

And one more thing: 2K, just give us the stuff. I'm tired of having to "unlock" things. When I pay you $60, that's a $60 key--I'm not gonna do any more extra work when I already paid you 60-freakin'-dollars. Just give me the goods.

I don't know if I'll be spending time taken "The Jordan Challenge", but this is an example of taking advantage of having the greatest player of all-time on your cover, and this is most likely just the beginning of how they plan on taking advantage of MJ likeness and his brand. "My player" was goal oriented, and I still haven't touched that mode in 2K10, so I don't know about this mode, but I do see the allure there, and them appealing to a certain type of audience...

Man that MJ is SPOT ON.

Since they had the time to create classic arenas, I hope the current arenas are correct this time.
Next blog I'm looking forward to changes in graphics, accessories, arenas and players.
