NBA 2K11 News Post

Gameinformer has posted their first impressions of NBA 2K11.

Quote:
"With new player models and completely retooled player animation systems, the on-court movement already look much smoother than they did in NBA 2K10. Animations blend together better, and players are no longer locked into their animations and rendered helpless until the move runs its course. If you're spinning toward the basket and decide to change your course, you can now break out of the animation and reverse your move or get off that delicately timed shot just outside the reach of your defender.

To complement NBA 2K's new look on the court, 2K Sports poached a guy who used to work in the TNT presentation booth to sharpen up its broadcast-style look. The Lakers vs. Celtics match-up we watched during the demo started with KG and co. coming off the bus while Kevin Harlan welcomed everyone to the Thanksgiving throwdown. The new player introductions used player images, and all of the informational overlays ditch the static look for more dynamic flow effects."

New control scheme and not getting locked into animations? Sounds good but why so secretive about the new control scheme? Waiting to see how much can be taken from Elite 11? Lol. Just jokin'...not really. Only half joking. I'm pretty sure they haven't finalized how the new control scheme will work especially with the "new level of control". To be honest, I think 2K is nervous about what EA has been doing and decided to actually show off NBA2K11 at E3, for once...Oh, shoot. There is another article here about the death of isomotion - THANK GOD!!! That crap was crap.

Awesome!

I'm not so sure about being able to break out of any animation. It sounds good on paper but.....I'll just wait till I see footage and the demo to judge that.

Nope, there IS pressure, my dude. Don't get that twisted. Mike Wang knows whussup and is showing them the way. 2K KNOWS that iso-shot stick crap was non-sense and when MW went to EA and helped create that great control scheme, MW KNEW he had to scrap that iso-bull when he went back to them. Hopefully, shot stick will be gone, too.

And that is why you, and so many others are named fanboys, you can like X more then Y, but you canīt say X will forever be better then Y, because that means that whatever product they sell, for you it will be better just because it is 2k

I remember back in the day, NBA live 05, was like the best b-ball game ever when it came out, It just looked perfect, Live supremacy was unquestioned, and as we all know, they relaxed too much, got lazy, and as of right now they are 2nd, when it comes to b-ball sim

In gaming industry things change quickly, but as of right now, these changes are very important for 2k series, because for the NBA lovers, animations were you have 0 control, kills the pleasure of playing basketball

But donīt fool yourself, these changes are made because of Elite, because if the competitors did not improve the gameplay, they would not be obliged to change it too, that is why competition between game companies are great for the consumer

And this "response" in gameplay by 2k is proved also with the " 2K Sports poached a guy who used to work in the TNT presentation booth to sharpen up its broadcast-style look", another response for the rumor that Elite will have ESPN/Abc presentation along with the trio of commentators

It is all about competition, and it starts ....... RIGHT NOW

All the guys posting here who have 'Live' in their nick, you need to change it to Elite. Register again...

Anyway, Nice article. Looks like 2K really took our wishlist seriously, and that's always great.

The same reason why 2k made Jordan appear on the cover, pure marketing

The series wasnīt doing good over the last years, so they decided to change the name so that fans would understand that huge changes, including the name, are being done.

As did 2k, with the increasing number of users starting to get fedup with the 0 development of things like the online, etc, over the years, they understand that putting MJ on the cover it is almost like obliging people to buy the game, specially the consumers, because lovers of the game donīt care about "covers"

I donīt know who is more desperate, EA tring to make justice to their history in this sport, or YOU trying to bash them, even when they havenīt been true competitors, except last season, over the past few years

This post is not about elite nor Live

My nickname has nothing to do to either NBA live or NBA elite, so that is a fail on your part

My obliged off-topics are over

I know man. I wish, I wish, I wish. But I thinkn TNT is under contract with Sony for NBA Inside.

I'm liking the idea of having a TNT guy helping though.

Tend to hear this every year...

I'm mainly curious to see how ballhandling works.
