The point I'm trying to make is that they basically made a trailer with one big cut-scene.
There was no actual gameplay footage in the video - except for the Backbreaker-Camera stuff that everyone supposedly hated in Backbreaker.
I'm trying to figure out exactly what EA is trying to sell in that trailer for Madden 11 - new cut-scenes? A Backbreaker camera?
(I'm not anti-cut-scene. I'm just worried about the lack of actual gameplay upgrades. This "locomotion" stuff is pointless because the players themselves still look clunky, robotic and even a bit cartoonish in some respects.)
While the trailer was cool from a "get you hyped perspective, if it does get you hyped", it didn't do much for me. I was hoping to see a nice mix of gameplay and presentation.
The first person view made me question as to whether this is just put in for marketing purposes, since EA has shown the Saints intro before and Brees is actually shown in it and not just heard, or a way of EA easing in the fact that this game may have first person p.o.v. Could be something that will be blogged about as well as talked about this week at E3...but I have an %80 doubt factor on the whole idea. We'll see.

Santa Maria!!!! I don't care if it's just a trailer, It gets people fired up like crazy! I'm glad EA knows how to sell their product, regardless if it was good that year or not.

Madden itself, asks for all the drama it gets. They stir the pot. Its not like someone on this site uncovered something in regards to Franchise. They released a statement saying "we didn't make any franchise enhancements". While its true some people go overboard, sometimes the messages EA sends are very hard to read. You make a comment about the camera view in the trailer, the truth is you just never know. They released a half way completed online franchise last year and said they would be updating it as the year progressed, which they never did, and now, its reasonable to assume they would have at least added something to it this year, but they didn't, they are releasing a broken, incomplete, online franchise for a second year, and instead are doing a 3 vs 3 online feature. Who could have called that last October?
Your maturity is def to be commended and your rational, im not saying your wrong, but thats what we do here. If everyone posted just like you OS would be out of business pretty quickly. dissecting these games is what ppl do here, and they will continue to do it for every game not just madden
That was a cool trailer...that's all I can say even though I'm not buying the game this year.

I love the "It's just a game!" posts. It is just a game. It is also a game that has failed to live up to many standards that have already been set, not only in football gaming, but video gaming in general. Some even set by EA and Madden themselves. The one bright spot for Madden is how pretty it is. This game looks amazing. I don't know anyone who would disagree with that.
Madden 11 is much better than Madden 10, but that still doesn't make it the best football game around, let alone the best sports game. Ian and the EA team have done a great job fixing and turning the ship around. Madden has been sailing in the right direction for the last two years, but home port is still a long way off.

I didn't get that trailer at all. Are they pushing superstar mode here? It reminded me of 2k5's first person football, which has already been attempted and failed. Sure the locker room scene is cool as is the entrance out to the field, but i just don't know what they were trying for. Ho-Hum. I'm more psyched about NCAA this year so far.

I didn't like that one bit.
It reminded me of this:

And we all know how that went.
I want to see GAMEPLAY. But of course, the purpose of a trailer is to sell games by showing off bling instead of substance.
So in that respect it is a good trailer.

Those seven players looked pretty hyped... Just like the real thing... minus the other 40 active players that are usually in the pregame psyche up. Elsewise cool, though.
