Madden NFL 11 News Post

Phil Frazier has just posted another Madden NFL 11 blog. Here is a quote that should generate a TON of comments.

Quote:
"To re-write Franchise mode to take full advantage of the PS3 and Xbox 360 would take well over a year to do, which is why we’ve taken the approach we have up until now. With that in mind, we made the decision to focus this year’s development on making the core areas of Madden NFL better, namely the AI, animations, playcall, and online play. While that meant not making any major overhauls to Franchise or SuperStar, we were still able to make some notable improvements while we prepare for the future. Specifically, we improved franchise stats (especially season rushing yards and season sacks), in-game injuries, Super Bowl presentation, NCAA Draft Class tuning, and we even completely re-created over 8000 players in 32 draft classes. We also added the new Meadowlands Stadium as the 2014 Super Bowl site. However, the biggest addition to Franchise mode this year is Game Planning. This year you have the ability to create a new Game Plan for every game in Franchise if you choose to do so. If you’re playing the Colts or Saints, you can focus your defensive Game Plan around Manning or Brees. If you’re playing a team with a great secondary like the Eagles, you can focus your Game Plan more around running the ball. You can save off a separate Game Plan for every opponent you face and if they add new players after year one, you can go back and edit that Game Plan to account for those changes. This new feature allows you to be the coach that you always wanted to be."

So, are they saying, they still haven't added key things to online franchise?

Good to hear that they are trying to work on it, and not do some BS stuff that will be taken out the next year, but instead are working from the ground up. 2 years on an awesome feature is better than a horrible job on trying to improve the feature in 1 year.

Shocking. "Tell us your big ideas and we'll put them
in Madden 12..maybe."

literally all people do on here is ask for changes in franchise. it's really bad on EA's part.

WOW! Atleast they are honest but this will probably be the biggest thread that OS has ever seen...

this takes all the anticipation out of madden 11 for me. They should have been asking about this a year ago. I love the offline franchise mode and now there is not much to look forward to.

So no major Franchise upgrades, no random draft classes...yep, I think I'll pass on Madden this year.

I'm very happy they decided to focus on core gameplay this year, I just hope they are successful. I could care less about franchise since I have never touched it, however I feel for the guys that are die hard franchise players. They have to wait over a year to (potentially) finally get what they want, hopefully Madden 12 will be worth the wait for these guys.

Are you ****ing kidding me?

Franchise is LITERALLY the only reason I play Madden. I hate Online play. Way to neglect franchise guys on next gen for like 6 years in a row...

This killed all my hope for Madden 11. Its a no buy for me. I won't even waste money to rent it- I'll try at someone's house or something

With them apparently not even touching offline or on-line franchise mode the gameplay and presentation better be the best we have ever seen in a football videogame period.

Unfortunately, I dont think the passing game, WR/DB interaction, true pocket forming, OL PASS blocking, and tackling were touched much at all.

that's really disappointing that franchise isn't improving

By reading that I think all they did was fix Stats, something that should never have been broken to begin with...

Madden Player > < EA Devs
^
This is how I feel right now

This place cracks me up over and over people have said if EA was just straight up with us and said something isn't going to be in the game just say it well they did. also everything that seemed to bother us also has been fixed from 10 so they are saying 12 is going to be what a franchise should be. I can live with that, but that just me

Nice of them to admit it... and nice to hear they're re-building it from the ground up.

Considering the fact the Franchise Mode is not part of the in-game engine, it's somewhat ridiculous that they couldn't have had a 'dedicated team' re-building the entire mode starting during the development of Madden 10 (or 9, or 8, or...) while fixing the fundamentals of the gameplay concurrently.

Unfortunately, having 'a dedicated team' is something that should have been done long ago. I've never been a Madden-basher - I've bought it every year and play it a lot - but that is kind of ridiculous.

I don't know but there's something about this sentence that just bothers me. Makes me feel taken advantage of. It's like what have you been doing since Madden 06?

# 17 kjcheezhead @ 06/11/10 03:49 PM
It sounds like all the franchise modes are getting updated in madden 12. Is this right? No player contracts, salary caps, cpu trade logic etc. in online franchise this year either?

This just may have finally killed madden 11 for me since I was leaning heavily no buy as it was.

Were all the resources shipped from Madden to NCAA this year? I dont think there is anything added to Madden that isnt added to NCAA other then Gus Johnsonn and NCAA got a lot of great stuff like Dynasty improvement, ESPN presentation, and an on-line web tool for on-line franchise...

# 19 rangerrick012 @ 06/11/10 03:50 PM
To me if that's all that's going to be added they should just put out an update for M10 and skip this year. I'm just being bluntly honest. Of course Madden is EA's cash cow so they'd never do that...but that's truly how I feel about it.

Exactly! I like that they are making sure presentation and gameplay are really, really good, before touching franchise mode. Having said that, the gameplay and presentation better be excellent!
