Heck, even Freddy Sanchez could win a batting title in this game.....oh, wait, he actually did win one.
lol freddy sanchez did win a batting title. can't believe a club foot kid pretty much not drafted won a batting title for the terrible pirates. something that is going to go overlooked for the rest of baseball history. i think he batted .344 that season. sorry for going off topic, not often do i get to talk about freddy sanchez's batting title lol

But anyways yeah these are just sim results and it's useless to debate them further. I'd take real life results anyday, as my A's are definitely doing better than their 50-112 prediction
I guess 10 games is more significant than my post implies. It would really come down to one run wins/losses.

Anyway, I too think that your A's will do better...

However, I agree--and point out in the article--that that aspect of the simulation doesn't seem likely to happen.

And yes, when we do these sims, we only do it once and then write about them as if it were the actual season. I wouldn't call it pointless, though it is primarily for fun. The question regarding statistical accuracy is essentially for discussion, though one would hope that in any game even one simulation would generate relatively realistic results.

I'm ok with these results; they aren't perfect and, as you and I point out, there are some issues. As you also point out, you could do the same thing at home, and post your results. You could also sim the season 100 times and post the aggregates too, if you want to do it that way. I think most people would welcome that data to the discussion.
SO THE SIM IS NOT A GOOD SIM CAUSE A TEAM LOST MORE THAN 110, and that doesn't happen often... So you trying to tell me that if the cubs won the world series in this sim the sim would have been all messed up huh?? Wild stuff happen in baseball every year this sim is way better than 2k10 sim

Sorry...either you quoted the wrong message or you misread what I wrote. We both agree that anything's possible!

I think that anything is possible as well. Crazy things happen all the time. However, Adrian Gonzalez will NEVER go to the Royals...though the Royals could use a bat!

Man, the Astros are horrible in real life and the game reflects that. I obly hope we do not manage to actually lose that many for real. Yikes.

Go figure the Cubs would lose to the Dodgers again.

Sounds great for a simulated season!

as much as i love the angels, i really dont see juan rivera winning the MVP and hitting 44 homers, he's more of a low 30 homer kind of hitter, but then, anything can happen right? but yeah, i like these results, lol, but yeah, if you guys did an average of 5 sims instead of 1, you'd get a better average of stats and results, not raging on 2k, but that one might be similar all 5 times, give or take a few, but who knows

You are probably right but the AL Central is so unpredictable, look at what the Twins did to win the division last year and everyone counted them out.

That is BS. 1) Rays 2) Jays 3) Yankees 4) Redsox 5) orioles

Does anyone ever have any problems with the game freezing up? Every now and then when , I go to the bullpen the game will freeze.

Never a good sign when the Red Sox win the title. Can't say I don't mind the simming this time. When I simmed straight out the box, it was a Washington-Texas World Series that saw the Rangers win in seven games. Lol

# 37 Zombi @ 06/21/10 11:18 PM
95 wins for the White Sox? Not a chance! And yes I am a White Sox fan.

# 38 Dante LeRoi @ 07/23/10 11:16 AM
The Marlins as the 4th worst team in the league??? Now that's ridiculous...

# 39 tbone118 @ 08/20/10 10:46 PM
At least it is more realistic than the MLB 2K prediction

# 40 Scott @ 10/06/10 02:34 PM
They got the Rangers record backwords
