"BACKBREAKER™ is a new, revolutionary football experience that takes you straight onto the field. Breakthrough euphoria tackles, non-canned animation, and stunning on-field graphics make BACKBREAKER™ the first truly live football game."
In real you have peripheral vision but you act like players are constantly moving their heads from left to right when running. You have to look ahead and only make split second head movements, which I think the game emulates. The majority of tacklers aren't seen by you in real life and again, I think this game emulates that as well.
You can see alot with a flick of they eye. If your head is turned to the right you don't have to turn your whole head to see to the left. And that is the problem I have with the camera, you need an angle that can replicate head turns AND the additional space you can see with split second eye movements. Panning back and up a bit I think can help in this area.
I'm not sure if there is such thing as a perfect camera angle, and I like the default camera at times but others I don't. Also, don't you realize "real life" NFL players can see behind their heads? Their head may be facing straight ahead but their eyes are facing up looking at the live stadium TV screen to see who's behind them. You won't be able to do that in this game so by golly it's not realistic!
I hope that is patched, it should be just as fast with the stick. I'm wondering if the stick delay is so that you don't accidentally switch receivers when trying to make a pass.
The cool thing about alt controls is that you can still scan with the right stick. I find myself using it at times because it feels more natural, but if I'm moving or want to check down multiple recievers fast the buttons are the way to go.
You can't flick your head running full speed, maybe in a half trott. Definetly not full speed. Unless you are just not fast/athletic.
The real life game is too fast to be looking all around. You have got to focus on your assignment. Safeties may get away with looking around some hence the name free safety.

Actually the speed at which you scan the field with the stick is influenced by the focus attribute.

I agree with what you said. Pretty much everytime a running back breaks free, he's moving his head left and right a couple times to check around for tacklers. I honestly just want a quick glance button because at times you can't make that slight diagonal turn that could get you into the endzone without being chased down becasue some guy is directly on your side and you cant see him.
The cam doesn't bother me at all, I just think it would make it better.
I generally dont have a problem with the cam, but I think the focus button when your running the ball needs to be tweaked, at least in relation to how it effects the runner. I was getting my had handed to me Talons vs Spartans last night and I was stuck on my 2 yard line. Decided to run goal line power play up da gut to get some room and my back broke it. I'm running down the field about on their 25 yard line and see a shadow and can hear footsteps on my left. I use the focus button to see the defender and it works but it also throws me off, since he was about at 7 o'clock behind me, the camera focus there and since I'm running straight it makes me run to 3 o'clock which in this case it right out of bounds at like the 17.
I am not sure how they could make the focus work without confusing you a bit, I was pissed that would have been a 98 yard run for a TD. LOL. The replay was classic as I simple walk out of bounds and the dude was not even going to catch me.
For the spin, just pull the right stick straight back then rotate it in whichever direction you want to go. you have to time it right or else the defender will read it pretty well unless he dives.
The lob is kind of hit and miss. for me I try to pull the stick back and push forward as fast as possible.
Has anyone just had their QB not throw the ball no matter how many times you press forward on the stick? There's' been a few times that my QB would just hold the ball for no reason no matter how many times I tell him to throw.
Thanks for the info. And yes, I have the same problem with the QB just not throwing the ball. And the more I play D on this game, the more I realize this has got to change in the next installment of BB. There also needs to be a default "normal" cam for this game. I understand that 505 wanted the players to be more involved in the game, but the last thing they should've wanted was for the game to become so frustrating that people will be turned off by things.
Guys I dont know if you have heard this yet, but the Supreme court shot down and Anti Trust case for the NFL stating that selling all of their contracts to Reebok was not fair. I wonder if this means that giving EA an exclusive NFL license is also not fair. The ruling stated that each team is an individual entity and that marking was a team by team thing nor entirely ruled by the league.
I've basically stopped playing the demo. Not cuz I don't like the game. Quite the opposite. LOVE it. But 4 minute games are just...unsatisfying. Not to mention it's frustrating knowing the A.I. will put up a great fight only throught the first quarter and as soon as it hits the second quarter and it goes into it's 2 minute drill, it all goes to hell.
There are atleast 5-6 interceptions per game, I ****ing hate the passing game on it. And every time I play the CPU, they miss all their field goals and hardly ever complete a pass.
That is my main 2 gripes. Running the ball is hard as ****, but I spent 2 hours in training mode last night practicing running, tackle alley, and defense. I have gotten better, but the passing game kills me. I wished we had these graphics, animations, gameplay, but with our normal camera views. Shew. I am not buying on day one, I will wait a week or 2 to see what you guys think.
Well guys I literally can't play this game due to the horrendous blur after every tackle. I played it yesterday only to walk away with a killer headache that took nearly a full day to get over. I've never played a game that constantly blurred like BackBreaker is doing. I have something called keratoconus, which is the deterioration of the cornea.
The cornea is the hard/rigid lense in your eye that goes over the retina. Mine are so thin that they bubble up easily with excessive eye strain. Any time your eyes are focusing, your eye muscles are being used. When you squint, you are using your eye muscles to cause the cornea to bend so you can see further.
My cornea is so thin, especially on the right eye which is far worse than the left, that it will wobble back and forth when it can't focus on something. Because it is so thin, it actually bubbles up like the following image (though definitely not 'as bad' as the example below):
Needless to say that playing BackBreaker caused my eyes to go all twitchy on me, and the cornea to wobble a lot, causing the muscles to work like crazy trying to get things in focus and causing the headache.
I hope they provide some type of option to turn that blurring off. I've messaged their community manager on twitter, but no response from him. I'd buy the game, but won't now, as there's just no way I can play it unless perhaps I run out of bounds on every play?
Just wanted to report there's some hope for me yet to play BackBreaker. Their community manager asked me to email them the problem I was having. I recognize I'm an outside case, but I'm definitely hoping they'll be able to make an option to turn that end of tackle blur off so I can play the game. If I get word the change will be made, I'll pick up the game as soon as it's available.

Thumbs up for community management!
Glad to hear that Val.
Im waiting for the PS3 demo to drop......Also, how much do we know of how deep online play will be?
IF I like the gameplay and feel good about the camera, that is going to make or break for me. I dont see myself playing this if there are no online leagues.

I am liking the demo so far. I see a major issue right not I havn't seen mentioned, although I didn't really all 100 pages of the post. I have called punt return and got flagged for roughing the kicker 5 times in a row. My luck can't be that bad. The replays were really nice though watching the kicker barely get the ball off and get creamed.

Yeah, this happens at various difficulties during certain team matchups. Some people rarely have it happen (like the INT problem) but many have seen it.

Even better is half the time it doesn't get called, someone just flat out demolishes the kicker anyways.
