This is actually something I was wondering, their publishing situation. If they have a multiyear deal with 505 or if they are going to need to find a publisher for BB2 and any other games.
My guess is that they have some form of deal with 505 (maybe 2 or 3 games, rather than a time limit).
releasing bb2 in 2 years would happen just in time for the exclusivity deal between madden and the nfl to expire....Backbreaker 2012 with full NFL licensing anyone?
I wonder what BB will sell like in Europe seeing as the devs are English? This could be a good way for the American football market to get further developed in that part of the world.
This news should quiet the people who keep saying BB is just a demo to show off the tech to EA. No, I think they realize they have something special here and with costs being so low what do they have to lose? I love how a handfull of dudes working in a garage has big corporations with tons employees concerned! Even if this game has big holes I'm still going to support it, just like I did with any football game that was released in the 80's and 90's. You want a bigger & better game next year then you support it, you don't complain because it's not perfect and you just hope they will stay true to the fans. So it's a first day buy for me, but I wish they would have some sort of collaboration with 2K in the future.
they(NM) confirmed that buying out the company or tech wasnt gonna happen months ago. people still ignore that fact and think somehow madden/ea is gonna buy it out cuz this game is a "test" for ea to show them its gonna work for football
I didn't know they said that so I'm not ignoring that fact. I could careless about what Madden/EA does. I was talking about any and every company. That includes 2K.

not aimed necessarily at u jerz...there are ALOT of ppl here in the BB forums still saying that this is all a dog and pony show for ea...its the naysayers pretty much
No worries man. I feel you. I think most people were expecting the engine to be picked up from either one of the companies. I'm hoping BB1 does really well, I know I'll be picking it up.
It would really make for some better football games in future. I'm hoping we get another company to join the mix, it'd be great to have 3 companies making a football game.
Why is everyone so excited when nobody knows if the first one's any good or not?
I guess for me, it's the fact that competition is going happen for another year. I just think when you have one sport and two different companies making their own game, it just make is better for gamers. Well usually that's the case. I hope in the instance it is the case.
This announcement probably would have been better done after BB1 launched, to build confidence in franchise post-launch, and to get it back into the news cycle a couple weeks before NCAA, as there's no DLC to promote that'd accomplish the same thing.
APF2k9 was announced after 2 months of poor sales, and it took 6 months before it finally came out that it was being 'benched'
While this is nice I don't understand why they would say this now before the 1st game is even released. Kinda stupid IMO because, If the 1st game doesn't pan out then....well I can let y'all figure out the rest.

Yeah they should have waited until the first game's release. I mean it's great they're planning a second one, it's just a little premature at this point in time.
If there is a second installment of Backbreaker. It won't be on the market until 2012. 2 years from now.
There is the possibility of Backbreaker 2. Simply because of the resources that Natural Motion has.
The Backbreaker application on i-phone has sold to over 1.5 million I-phone users. The BB application has just expanded to Android as well. So that's a whole new revenue stream for them and the application is also on The I-Pad.
Couple that with the revenue received for GTA IV, Star Wars The Force Unleashed and the #1 selling video game in the world right now in Red Dead Redemption. Natural Motion has a small team, no license to pay for and because of the euphoria engine's success. Their team has the resources to get a second installment out there.

I didn't know the app. was that successful. This makes a bit more sense now so hopefully the first game sells well. I didn't know NM engine was going to be in red dead redemption either.
