Madden NFL 11 News Post

Check it out. You get some footage of the game. Dolphins vs Pats; 49ers vs Seahawks; Packers and Giants - hated to see that CB press on the WR and just hold him - WEAK.

The scary thing is someone at Tiburon thought that was cool. Just reminds me of how many times I've thought they just don't get it. There were things in the past where they'd seemingly be proud of something and would need to get clowned before they'd really get it. Last year with Pro-Tak was a perfect example; I really think a lot of the folks at Tiburon thought those rugby scrums were cool. Until they got clowned for them; then it changed up considerably before release. But still wasn't what it should be. And now the atrocious tackling/player interaction stands out even more

Agree.
Also just once I'd like to see a DE bullrush and/or just blow past his blocker on the OUTSIDE. At 1:03 ...there's no way a DE continues to rush straight towards where the QB USED TO BE once the QB rolls out. The DE should be cutting to the outside when the QB does.

Yes please, I beg of the Madden team to fix the overpowered bump animations. Please just listen to LB.

Personally, I thought the footage of the game looked pretty good. Dunno if it was the angles or what but LOVED the Henne rollout and the back of the endzone toe-tap catch was BEAUTIFUL. The rollout then throw on the move looked really organic, natural and realistic, for once. I don't get some of the comments about the animation looking "sloppy". What type of hate sauce is that??

Liked the missed tackle animation during the Seattle footage by #98.

The run up the middle by Brown was nice but I absolutely was crazy about the run play by #25 of the Packers. The run animation looks like it finally where it needs to be.

The only issue I had was definitely that CB jam on that TE in the Giants/GB footage. Just didn't look right, and yes, that TE should be able to toss that lil CB like bowl of rice.

I'm back to being a bit more excited about Madden 11 but I'm also still concerned about the lighting. Doesn't sound like EA could update it ala NCAA 11 style based on a tweet from Ian I read yesterday. Sounded like he was pretty enamored by NCAA's lighting (and presentation) but didn't mention that Madden 11 would match it. I at least hope they got in the progressive lighting that they couldn't get into Madden 10.

I didn't like what how Aaron Rodgers was able to get a perfect pass while getting hit...I hope they will be able to get rid of stuff like that...I hated it in Madden 10...very frustrating.
Maybe I had a different copy of 10 then you did.

Once Rodgers went back and was in a sack animation in 10, 9 times out 10, the ball came squirting out like a duck.

I was happy to see a perfect pass with Rodgers falling down. Happens once in a while on Sunday, too.

No vid until 1:00 in.
A dominating D player should be feared. This isn't the case yet in Madden.
Not hating as I really liked the Madden 10 updrade and what I've seen so far in Madden 11. Just asking to get more of this in the game.

Was that for Madden 10 or 11?

I just spent about the past 2 hours watching Red Dead Redemption trailers and gameplay on YouTube, and I was more entertained than I've ever been playing Madden on this gen. When you look at games like RDR, GTA IV, and UC2, and the sheer depth and attention to detail they pay to those games, you just realize how inadequate Madden in the past 5 years has been. I understand these our different genres and have longer development cycles, but still Madden is leaps and bounds behind them in every single way.

To follow up on my above post, I simply just don't understand EA's claim that they can't do this or that because of disk space limitations. Such an excuse just doesn't make sense in light of what these other games are capable of doing.

I agree. The movements always look choppy and unnatural to me. What also worries me is pro-tak seemed to add to this effect imo and people have mentioned it's been missing from Madden 11 vids so far.

The back of the end zone catch looked good to me, but the rest of this vid just looked medicore at best.

Agreed, minus the toe tap by the Wr it looks and moves just like madden 10 which is not a good thing

Nitpicking here - but when will EA realize that the Dolphins have been wearing all white at home for the last 10-15 years now (aside from night games)?

Tuning is different from not existing right? Furthermore, like everyone else here that is your personal opinion, but the facts dictate that Pro-tak is not there. Could they not tune Pro-tak while leaving it in the game? Of course I do not know, however it is more than strange that we have not seen or heard a whisper of it yet

I guess the way I look at it is , why would they talk it up big this year if that is what they did last year. It's not a new feature this year.

That is why I feel, my opinion, that they might be tuning it until it looks good.

I could be wrong, though.

still waiting on the list of new online franchise features...

I highly doubt that Pro Tak has been removed from Madden 11. NCAA 11 has BOTH locomotion AND Pro Tak in it. Seen one vid with Pro Tak in effect for NCAA11. As for Madden, it could have just been turned off for tuning to work better with locomotion since none of know when any of the vids are from.

John Madden pushing for authenticity in the game is a "curse"? Am I missing something here?
