Fight Night Round 5 News Post

TrueGameHeadz have posted their changes that need to be made to the next Fight Night.

Quote:
"Fight Night Round 5″ had better have some kind of AMPED UP presentation in all areas of the game, but in the Legacy mode in particular. For example, Make the main hub an ESPN central zone, or maybe have a digital boxing show that talks about titles exchanging hands, up and coming fighters, and retired fighters. It’s “next generation,” you can do it EA! I want the Pay Per View events’ presentation to really stand out from my Friday Night Fights matches. Have cut scenes of George Foreman and Max Kellerman talking at ringside. Give me the tale of the tape (which “UFC” managed to include). Give me presentation of the whole card. Tell me about the undercard; who’s fighting, if they are up and coming. Include some cut scenes of movie stars in attendance, and maybe even a future challenger in street clothes who is watching your fight to scout you, or to be interviewed about an upcoming fight. Make “Round 5″ as much like a real life P.P.V. event as possible, something that someone would pay to watch."

Apparently none of the developers understand the concept of overkill and too much of a good thing. More often than not, a knockdown should be a boxer sliding back on his behind, or dropping to a knee from a succession of punches. When a fight gets rag dolled and plants face first, that should be FIGHT OVER. In FNR4, it was not uncommon to see a fighter dropped like this 4-5 times per fight.

If they are dead set on keeping these arcade elemets in the game, they NEED to allow for a simulation setting. Even extreme slider tweaking couldn't fix the problems in FNR4. The developers ee t ask themself thi question: Are you trying to simulate the sport of boxing or are youtri to ake a fighting game chock full of things casual fans will 'pop' for? Why is it tht all of the other sports (even MMA), get developers who make a real effort to accurately portray their respective sports in the game? Why cant boxing fans have the same thing? If true Boxing fans, and boxing fan means more than having watched Frazier-Ali on ESPN Classic, and being a fan of Mike Tyson KO's, are not developing this game, then HIRE THEM for crying out loud. Trainers, Referee's, Judges, put all of the aspects of the sport in the game and make them tangible.
I like this post. I want a overall boxing experience. I want Fight Night to truly simulate the sport of boxing. I want to see everything I see in boxing replicated in the game.

I totally agree!

Presentation makes a world of difference in regards to the perception of the players "experience". To be able to be in the moment or experience the highs and lows 9/10 the presentation is what evokes the passion of the player to continue playing and progressing thru a game. Gameplay and depth is huge by presentation to me is the seasoning at times on a meal that's missing something at times.

I agree with you Mr. Judge

I hope the Fight Night developers check this forum like Madden and NCAA developers do.

The bad thing is the boxing forum is barely alive here at OS.

One of the producers use to come here evry one and a while, but not since FNR$. They are always on the EA Fight Night Forums.

If someone knows about the Smackdown vs Raw 2011 universe mode then go ahead and post this on the forums where the developers would see it. I probably have a username over there if its EA, but might forget to do it since I am mostly active here.

Here is a link to what I was saying(bottom of page 1).

http://www.operationsports.com/forum...check-out.html

This mode could make the game so worth picking up. Right now I worry that it will just be FN4.5 with add-ons.

I never could get into the career mode. By the time you got to fight for the title the champ was new about 5-6 times. Plus it was a chore and too linear.

Dont worry that'll change. I'll be posting most of my elaborate ideas here to get more mature and constructive feedback. I'll frequently refer them to this site.

It definitely wont be a Fight Night Round 4.5. Based on what I've experienced that certainly wont be the case.

There needs to be some sort of story to career mode. Add in interviews, promoters, shady trainers. Let me start my career off as supertalented if I want to while only being able to raise certain attributes. Add in the option for me to get my break by sparring with a champion. Make money mean something. Add a respect level for fighters that have a Mayweather/Hopkins type style that gives a bonus to fighters fighting that way. Steal from the UFC mode of where can either focus fully on training between fights or doing promo trying to get your name more known to line you up for future fights.

Screw the fluff.. Focus on the gameplay & the art of the sport itself.. Every yr I whine about Stamina.. & every yr a person who plays the game at EA events says Stamina is there.. It's still broken.. Throwing 600 punches in 3 rounds with Hatton.. You shouldn't be able to raise your hands & you should move like you are in wet cement.. 2nd.. Let us edit boxers ratings. More extensive & indepth sliders, especially for the AI.. Drop the phony special punches & haymaker, which NO trainer teaches their fighter.. Yeah.. Telegraph a punch which leaves you wide open.

The Stamina sliders do work, but is only good for single player.. Also effects the the number of Knock downs.. I would also like to see fighters stumble when hurt where you can get them on the ropes & just throw all you got, with the stunned opponent only being able to block, dodge, & clutch till he clears his head & gets his legs back..

I turned Stamina to zero & my created fighter was spent after four rounds.. Slow & sluggish punches, slow, putting up his hands.. Like moving in sand.. So there is potentional, but at default it's broken IMO, especially with established fighters.. This was my fighters first fight.. His stamina is already low.

I totally agree! Man, where have you been hiding?

Online needs more weight classes. I like to use Roy Jones but won't if my opponent picks Lennox Lewis!! Lt weight, welter, middle, lt heavy, & heavyweight should cover it.

Also the fighter selection online needs to change. Example. I see my opponent picking Cotto. I pick someone comparable like Mosley. Then my opponent scrolls thru & picks a 6 2' created Floyd Mayweather. I hate that! This is also why more classes are needed. Maybe change the system to something like this: I pick a guy. Opponent picks a guy. Prompt comes up asking each of us if we want to proceed. That way there are no surprises.

FNR4 was step 1 away from the horrible joke of a boxing game previous Fight Night's were supposed to be.
Yeah.. Why are boxing fans so much into the glitch.. Gives me a bare bones game with a great foundation like MMA, & I'll be happy. I was a huge boxing fan from 86-2000.. I see a lot wrong with boxing games.. Foot work & collision detetection being the main culprit.. & too generic animations.. Every boxer should have their own animations like 2K11. I bought 4 when it came out & didn't like it.. I bought it again last week & really think it's a good game.. What was the update I was forced to down load.. I had to great fights..

I was Hearns fighting Pernal.. Reminded me of Chavez Vs Taylor.. Pernal was winning every round but my punches was doing more damage, to the point his right eye was so bad the fight was stopped during the 8th round. I only won 1 round..

Tyson Vs Morrison.

I had Morrison down twice early in the first due two well timed counter left hooks.. But after that, it was like the AI learned & adapted, & started fighhting more on the outside & to Tommys strengths, using Tommys superior reach.. & the counter window was smaller, & I was missing more.. Morrison still fought on the inside but was smarter.. & he stunned me 3 times during rounds 2-3.. In the 4th round I finally put him out with a right hand.. He was KO'ed.. A very thrilling match..

I think 4 is doable with slider tweaks.. Stamina does effect how many times a fighter gets up..& it does work..

2nd time around I'm really enjoying it.. & the Haymaker isn't a gimme.. I do think the developers missed the mark by a mile in terms of suspense.. After a fight.. This is beyond bad. If this isn't in the new game it will be a automatic fail for me. That is the essence of boxing.. You take away the intrige & tension. Also add a recap as to why fighter A beat fighter B. The announcer should declare the fight a unanimous DEC, Majority, split, or draw.. & read all the score cards.. Give the judges names.. & There should be tons of Judges.. Some who favor aggression, some might be swayed by the home town fighter.. & I'd love to include the WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO.. Make it legit..

1 punch KO's are welcomed.. Just please have a slider for this.. This is a great feature, as shown by UFC, albeit, way over blown.. But winning by KO/ losing by KO with the first punch landed is a WTF moment.. & should happen.. But VERY rare..

EA MMA had different judges personalities and from what I've read it works really well. I hope FNC adopts this.

Regarding the real organizations, it probably won't even happen with the current team.
When I was at EAC two years ago, Brizzo told a few of us that he will never give any of the alphabet soup groups a dime.
He felt (and I agree) that these organizations have helped erode the sport of boxing with it's watered down champions.
That's why they created 3 fake belts. They wanted the game realistic so that's why they had more than one belt. But he was pretty determined to not add the real groups.
It could change down the road, but right now, I don't think it will.

Yes, the various groups have.. But they are a part of boxing, & is more realistic.. I'd rather be the IBF champion.. Then some generic EA created title belt..

I do find it funny that he belittles the alphabet soup groups, but will spend a lot more to include a convicted rapist, & a person who bites ears off, & talks about eating a opponents child... & one who said he wanted to land a upper cut to Jesse Furgeson that would push his nose bone into his brains..

I feel like I'm every boxing enthusiast when I say I agree with the official rankings and groups, IBF, WBO, WBF, WWF, UFC, UHF, HBO, Showtime, whatever is real needs to be in the game. Look at the NFL and Madden, licensing means something to gamers. NBA2K11, as great as it is, would be toast with no NBA. Sorry EA, but how many times have I wanted to play a sports game as an EA squad? An EA Title just doesn't carry weight to boxing or it's relevant sport. What if I played Madden, and you called the last game an EA Bowl, not Superbowl? No offense, but a sport is tied to its sponsors and licenses, and folks identify it that way in the gaming world. When I saw a game like HBO Boxing it had appeal. We want the full package!

I really hope the Career ranking system will be truly smart this year. Like seeing guys with records truly worthy of climbing the ladders. I don't want to fight a rival opponent or top 10 guy with a 10-18-4 record. I want to get in the top 10 and see guys with under 4-5 losses and make a premier fight mean something. Maybe even a big fight buildup where your opponent will retire based on this last opportunity to climb into title contention or be his last hurrah. When I fight a champ, he needs to almost always be undefeated, maybe 1 loss. It needs to feel like this guy has been around for a while, but I'm the one to take him out!

Bring in Sports Illustrated, newspapers, press conferences, photos, post fight replays, magazine covers, etc. I would like to see a separation of fighters in Career mode also. Have a Legends Career mode, where you have the option to face Ali, Foreman, the greats, etc. Have a Time Period career mode, where you face generics and champs only from 40s - 50s, 50s - 60s, 60s - 70s, 70s - 80s era. Have a Modern career mode, where you face generics and only fighters from today. Make fighter degradation over time really force you into retirement, and have the media, commentators and press discuss this as your fighter ages. Upon retirement, bring out a lengthy career highlights presentation with videos and photos ending with credits like Super TecmoBowl and NFL2k5 did after winning the Super Bowl. It's brings a true sense of accomplishment.. I'm out!

Haha, we are on the same page then, my man! I know we aren't the only ones out there.. It feels like I have been waiting a lifetime for you know, the boxing game that should have existed a long time ago... in a galaxy, far, far away... lol I've been waiting to see a smart boxing career manager sim with graphics since the 80's dude. Honestly, I really thought the PC would have been the one to do this.. We need the Sierra Football Pro of Boxing!
