This past week in NYC NCAA Football 11 Designer Russ Kiniry was showing off how locomotion works.

I might be in the minority here, but I could honestly care less about the replays UNTIL the gameplay is good.

I like how QBs don't run up to the lines anymore (as far as I could tell). I hated that. You just don't see that! Glad to see that something minor like that was worked on.

So the End of the Day question is, how many of you that have issues with the limited vids/info dropped thus far, plan on buying?

Just curious as to why you would drop $60 on a game that had negatives up front or why bash every aspect of the game when you do not plan on buying?

Just curious because if dev's were to say we will put it in if you write the code to integrate, 99% of us could not do it. The visuals that we see require a written code to perform, and from the example i saw for a degree in Game Programming, no simple "Yo-Yo" can do. You got to know your stuff and be good at it, thus I give these guys much respect because to take letters, numbers and symbols and create the visuals that we see on a disk is special.

I just think that many times we don't consider what's necessary to produce what we ask for.

I couldn't put it no better my friend. I think some people will never be happy no matter what EA does. EA is trying there best to give us the best real looking game they can. They are maxing out the graphics already with this game engine. I'm also from old school. I say if you want to play real football. Go out in the back yard with friends and toss the pigskin around. People like us know when to love the game and accept what they do to it. I think the game is shaping up to be a great game this year. Can't wait.

Yea I know what mean. That kind of worries me that any time the QB throws towards the sideline that the WR is going to make the two feet animation inbounds everytime. That should only be triggered on certain throws to the sideline accordingly. If that happens everytime then people are going to complain. I think it should depends on the WR awareness ratings.

I mean I get that the camera angle is different from a real life TV, but why wouldn't you want a different camera angles than on the TV?

I for one don't want the "exact" same thing I see on TV. I want the same gameplay as football should have, but not the exact same views and cameras.

I've made this point over and over. No they wouldn't. They have ability to get some of this stuff such as the ultra close up shots on replays, but they don't air them because it makes no sense to the audience.

you guys are just not understanding this very well. EA is the one that made the claim of "authentic ESPN presentation" people are only pointing out that some of these replays do not fit that bill. Nobody is "bitching or moaning" they're only giving their opinions on the info that's released which is exactly what this board is for so if you don't like don't come here.

10 years working in sports television including a stint with ESPN is my proof. You don't need to have camera guys at every single postion when you own sophiscated equipment. With the cameras they have they could highlight Tim Tebow's pimples from the worst seat in the house if they wanted.

If realism isn't the goal, then why even bother modeling football players in the game at all? Why not just use Super Mario characters. They could score touchdowns, or use Mortal Combat finishing moves to score extra points. Oh, that's right. Because if it's in the game, IT'S IN THE GAME. Thus, the discussion is driven by comparing the video game with what's in real live football games.

Besides, in this context, going outside and playing football in your backyard is about as real as sitting on the couch playing football with your Wii Nunchuk controller in hand. Suuuure. Uncle Rico replays from the camcorder are just like Saturday night SEC football replays. Minus 90,000 people, goal posts, hash marks, lights, athletes...

And I can only speak for myself, but I don't think anyone is telling EA to sacrifice gameplay for replay angles. There are plenty of threads discussing gameplay. This is simply one thread discussing a different facet of the game. Gameplay, presentation, graphics, functionality etc. are all important. I'm not a physicist, so my opinion is limited when it comes to gameplay issues. However, I do cover college football for a living, so the visual inconsistencies of the game stand out like a sore thumb to me. Playing Uncle Rico out back doesn't exercise those demons.

The presentation video glosses over presentation and talks more about lighting. The video in this thread speaks specifically about the new replays.

They may mention the replay, but this is about locomotion, not presentation. It does look as if we will finally be able to find NEW problems with gameplay, instead of the same old ones though. This is 100% a relief for me.

That's not how the public wants its sports games. I know some folks want it that way but the majority want the tv presentation as well as a level of immersion as they are the ones running the show. In other words, a combination of the two. There will always be room for certain modes in games like what you guys speak of but games in general are not going to be that way for the regular product because that's not what the public wants.

I skip through them most of the time but I can see both sides. If you're going claim realism then follow-through but what happens if ESPN/CBS/whoever implements these new angles in the near-future?

There's a reason broadcasts use the angles they do: they're the best angles to show off what's really happening on the field during a given play.

It should be the same for videogames, so why would you want an angle that doesn't provide an optimal view of the play?
