I'll definitely be getting this one - looks ridiculous. No NFL...no big deal - I play in a semi pro football league right now, so there is some franchise report material to get my creativity going with this game.

Sick!

I dont think they should waste time with that. Just start work on another installment of football and start adding whats missing without hesitation.
The big, lanky player models definitely remind me of NFL2K. Unfortunately this game doesn't benefit from having the NFL license.

For perspective, I've looked at the video/commercial and tried to imagine the fake players/fake teams with real NFL players, real teams. I'm picturing Troy Polomalu delivering a big hit on Chad Ochocinco, or Reggie Bush trying to stretch dive over the pile at the goal line. Even for what it's lacking, just having the NFL/NFLPA licenses increases Backbreaker's appeal many times over. It really brings home how much EA has hamstrung other devs and the disadvantages of trying to develop a non-licensed football game

When the NFL created teams videos start being posted alot of people will probably reconsider their stances.

but like I have said before...

although it won't be a HUGE difference for some.....I do think that seeing some of these players in familiar colors will help some get more comfortable with its visuals.....sure the Pads and visors will still be a problem for others.
did anyone confirm if we can edit the players and remove the visor ? lol yeah as soon i seen that i fell out of my chair. yeah the colors of your team can give you goose bumps and have a nostalgic effect !

Are the players shown without their helmets on the sideline?

Game looks great!!

Visors, uni cloth, accessories, body builds, faces, hair, etc this will all come down the line with future installments; I'd rather them work the gameplay and AI first. Remember, this is a first build of a game, not the 20th+ Anniversary so they still have to build upon it.

# 71 hokupguy @ 04/25/10 12:24 PM
looks cool might pick it up used from ebgames or game stop...

these are my thoughts as well that's why i like the $50 price point cause it saying we're new give us a try. To develop a nex-gen game incurs high cost so 50 is a good deal. There is no reason to compare a games first offering to game that has been around for 20 years unless it accels past it. Plus both games are different but have football in common.

There are sure some Chargers colors in this trailer:

You also see many more though. As long as they don't have defaulted teams mixing and matching with like purple and a light color at the same time.

I'm as "sim" as they come when it comes to my sports games but how on earth can anyone not be excited for this game? Maybe it's not the truest representation of the sport as far as the details go, but OMG, the game in motion looks as lifelike as it comes when you look past the over-done player models. The player's movements are breathtaking, really.

I was on the fence about a pre-order but forget that ish, these guys deserve my cash. They've given ME exactly what I've been looking for in a football game since 2K5. The on-field action looks incredible.

What is with all the people saying they will pick it up used or rent even if it turns out to be good? If the game does turn out to good, don't people think these guys deserve their support for putting out a good game. If you buy it used or rent none of that money goes to the developer.

The game is already $10 off of the normal $60 price for games anyways. If the game turns out good these guys deserve support, which means actually buying the game new so they get the revenue.

Looking at those two running vids I can't see how anyone can prefer sky view to on the field view. I have a feeling a lot of Madden fans put winning online, franchise, and stats ahead of gameplay and outright fun-not everybody-i'm just saying.....

I agree with you and I realized that years ago. They are more concerned with franchise, stats, cleats, dreads, towels, etc. more than realistic physics, animations, and gameplay. Majority of them that is.

# 78 Blzer @ 04/26/10 02:59 PM
I hope they have an option to eliminate that transparency thing that is in the most recent gameplay videos, because those gifs without that transparency effect looks much more awesome!

Except those things you mention are why people are still playing the Madden games right now months before the release of the next version.

Those gifs look fantastic, but they're cherry picked gifs to prove a point, the limited vision is something that I think will need to played with personally in order to pass judgement on, the problem is that it's mandatory and there is no option for anything else.

I just wish they give us an option to have the Camera shake alittle after big hits, like the old clips of the game.
Bingo. All the visual assists that you may have seen; glowing balls (lol), glowing player outlines, play art on the field, are all "Arcade mode". And its not just a on or off switch, you can choose which assists you want on or not. Or play pro mode with no assists at all.
