Continuing to beat the dead horse... However, since we are all patiently waiting for the patch and v2 of the rosters (almost like it's planned both will be released at the same time ) please note the sarcasm

Anyway, after the FA list having a handful of stars after 2013, I was curious to see what would happen if I went ahead and simulated to the offseason. As soon as the date came to sign other FAs I noticed a swarm of trades happening. All of them were 1 stud player (Hanley Ramirez) for a prospect not making much money... Fast forward to the end of Spring Training, I go to the Free Agent screen and I can't name you a player that WASN'T on the FA list, besides Pujols and Mauer... hah From Lincecum to Felix Hernandez to Ryan Howard, etc.

I know it has been discussed before that maybe the potential in other players is causing this, BUT I noticed that all teams only had 9-10 million tops in cap room. Every player on the FA list is wanting 12-13 million and rightfully so, but no teams can sign them...

Maybe this still is a result from the assortment of players with high potential and teams are having to pay 5-10 million for all these prospects when they become FAs, which would make sense.. Just figured I'd throw it out there..

Both are right actually.......in a way.
I'm leaving the MLB roster as per Opening Day.
I'm updating the minor league rosters to reflect any of those moves...but the biggest change is making sure that all the players in v1 are at least playing both in the system somewhere and on the correct team. In that case...there were a LOT of additions/subtractions and moves. Aaron Miles is a good example of this....he was on one team in v1 as a NRI......since then he has signed with another team. He is on his new team.
I did leave prospects(from 1-30) on the set even if they haven't played in 2010 yet due to injury(we're not just simulating this year, right?!)
Now....dropping players that are SCEA players is just not possible right now(no room to move anyone)....they are on their previous teams Single A.
If it was a player that we created...he will be changed.

Hope this helps!

So say for example the Fred Lewis trade and Burrell being released will not be apart v2?

Alright so please don't jump down my throat as I haven't checked this thread in like a good month. Just curious as to when the coveted V2 of these rosters will be released? I just got a brand new slim PS3 since my old one crapped out earlier today and I lost all my game saves (ie Chises and what not), so I figured I'd wait til V2 to start another one. Appreciate all your hard work Knight & co!

Knight said early next week and if not, by Memorial Weekend for sure.

I am trying to follow the discussion of the 3rd patch and its correction relative to Knight's roster and am a bit unclear.

One poster said that you would have to re-download the roster to avoid a glitch where too many A-potential players were released into FA.

Is this so? If not, does the original download of Knight's roster produce an error of this sort?

Nope.
I started the N.L. West last night.
I can do 1 team per day(45-50 players at 10-15 minutes per player....you do the math!)
I have a little of Arizona left to do(I caught a couple of things from other teams that took a little extra time)....so you can see that it won't be tomorrow.
I also have work on Sunday and Tuesday/Wednesday....so if the Fire Gods are good to me...I might be able to come home Wednesday night and complete the set.

I'm very happy with how it's shaping up.
Everyone is looking good and it plays out very nicely.

As far as this set and the patch.
If you are going to make it 4 or 5 years into your franchise.....honestly....then you are going to have to use 30 team control and keep the cost of some of the lower level (A) players down. The patch did not in itself do anything to combat the teams spending too much(as I hoped it would)...but rather, SCEA combated it through a roster(and I'm guessing subsequent rosters) release that has less A potential players in it.
So you will have to either control costs with mine....or use fake players with their latest....as I will not be re-doing the set ala last year.
I don't believe re-downloading will change this......as I believe my potentials are locked....where SCEA's are now random(which leads me to point out to you guys...if you plan to go the route with default SCEA rosters.....look at the potentials...as it seems they have locked in a set number of A/B/C potentials and then randomized it...including MLB players!....each time you download...just FYI).

Question;
Jon Raynor....he started with Pitt this year, correct?....he is now with Florida?
I left him with Pitt as I believe he started the year in the MLB.
Thanks.

man, they really need to get a handle on their franchise next year... assigning actual MLB players with random potentials seems like a really bad idea on their part

30 team control for me! can't wait!

# 1430 jakroeger @ 05/21/10 01:45 PM
Thanks for the "warning" Knight before I had to sim through and check it myself.

Minor league players are important to me, and having the correct potential assigned to players, so I'll be using 30 team control from here on out..

It actually might be more interested during the offseason being able to shift players to certain teams and you'll avoid NL teams signing 2 superstars at 1B when they don't have a DH, and stuff like that.. Will just have to keep a close eye out on spending though, that could be tricky the first go-around..

Sorry to keep asking questions but what update would have all up to date transactions

The only reason I ask this is we still can`t move over players with out subtracting someone off the other teams roster, ie a 2player for 1player trade

No worries...

I'm keeping anyone on the MLB roster as of opening day on their original team.
All the minor league transactions....players that were NRI's or FA's that have since signed with a different team...will be on their new team.

Knight, I asked this question a couple pages ago not directly to you but I could use your help. I understand that V2 is going to have the rosters set to opening day which is fine. My only question is what would you say is the best way to go about updating them? I had a few thoughts. One was just to use Strut's transactions log and go day by day. The other is using mlbdepthcharts the guy there has a spreadsheet all the teams. If you or anyone has any other suggestions please feel free to contribute.

Re: Raynor (4/27/10)

To clear space on the 25-man and 40-man rosters, the team designated for assignment Rule 5 draft pick John Raynor, an outfielder who never got into the starting lineup and went 2 for 10. The team has 10 days to trade, waive or release him, and general manager Neal Huntington said in announcing the moves after the game late Monday night that he will try to arrange a trade to keep him in the system.

yes he started the year on Pitt and got 11 at bats for them and then was sent back to Florida, where he is in their AAA system now

Knight what about John Ely for the Dodgers ? Do you think he deserves better than a D potential ? Also maybe a ratings boost based on his performance so far?
