2K Sports Signs All-Star Lineup to
Promote Major League Baseball® 2K10 this Season

Cover athlete Evan Longoria to be joined by seven of
the top players in Major League Baseball®

January 7, 2010 – In addition to cover athlete Evan Longoria, third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays®, 2K Sports announced today that they have partnered with seven additional elite baseball superstars to help promote Major League Baseball® 2K10. The players will form an impressive council, who will serve as active spokesmen and invaluable gameplay advisors for the title this season. These seven players were selected not only for their excellence on the baseball diamond, but also for their commitment and desire to help create the most authentic MLB video game to date.

The council of players for Major League Baseball® 2K10 include:

Andrew Bailey, relief pitcher of the Oakland Athletics®
2009 American League Rookie of the Year and American League All-Star
Felix Hernandez, starting pitcher of the Seattle Mariners®
2009 American League All-Star
Jose Reyes, shortstop of the New York Mets®
2-time National League All-Star selection
Justin Morneau, first baseman of the Minnesota Twins®
2006 American League Most Valuable Player
Justin Verlander, starting pitcher of the Detroit Tigers®
2-time American League All-Star selection
Kendry Morales, first baseman of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim®
August 2009 American League Player of the Month
Nelson Cruz, outfielder of the Texas Rangers®
2009 American League All-Star

“We look to partner with the top emerging talent every year to assist us in shaping our MLB 2K franchise,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “Working with these seven elite players to ensure our product is up to their standards presents a fantastic opportunity for 2K Sports. As part of their partnership with 2K Sports, the athletes will consult with the development team at 2K Sports’ Visual Concepts studio to provide their expertise and recommendations for how to maximize the realism of Major League Baseball 2K10 and create the most authentic pitcher–batter battle experiences. These players will also appear in an upcoming “Pitchers vs. Hitters” video series that will highlight the intense battle from the mound to the batter’s box in Major League Baseball 2K10.

I wish I could afford a PS3 for the Show because I don't think even an "expert" panel can save this game.

Man, Im still hoping for a solid title this year. Although I am a PS3 owner myself, I desperately want 2 worthwhile titles this year. I think this is 2k's last chance considering that SCEA is way ahead of the game. If 2k10 does not implement 40 man rosters, arbitration, etc. IMO they are done. It's going to take more than some of the games biggest stars for me to purchase this year. Much more.

Couldn't have said it better Jim. I'm still holding out hope that they are just waiting to "shock" us with their new amazing features and gameplay.

I hope they have not planned a lot of those trailers. They have to be the most uninspiring marketing pieces I have ever seen. Where is the built up drama to make you want to purchase this?

How about the devs coming on here and the 2k forums and taking ideas from us the gamers ala SCEA and EA? It's that simple.

Not the news most people were looking for, but it's news none the less. I really hope they mo-capped these guys both Fielding, Pitching & Hitting because those animations just add to the problems this game suffers from as they are not that great & haven't been that great for a long time.

These guys need to generate some buzz for their title. Many people have been thouroughly dissappointed the last few years. They need to be showing some actual gameplay or screenshots to generate some interest. It's like the head of marketing for this title is secretly collecting a bigger check from SCEA.............Wow

I just honestly don't know how you go from being the premier baseball video game and turn into this. Like someone else said these videos do not make me want to rush out and buy the game. They have now released two trailers that show NO gameplay footage. What gives 2k.

Sadly, none of these things 2K is doing will make the game a seller or play better. Let's hope they have some goods things up their sleeves this time out.

Oh, thank the heavens that 2K figured out exactly what fans of the MLB2k franchise want: endorsements by real major leaguers.

Ugh. I'm with y'all. I'm really hoping that this year's game will be good...no, forget that, at this point I'll take acceptable and without game destroying bugs (random fielding errors, sudden loss and catch up in fielding speed, CPU swinging at every strike, wonky baserunning and ball physics, among other things) and screwups in franchise mode (217?, unable to edit players, weird stats).

But it seems to me (and I'm afraid) that if 2k had something that they were really proud of, they'd just be coming out and telling us about it themselves, rather than spending money to have ballplayers come out and try to do it instead. They say they're focusing on the pitching/batting for this year, which is great, cause imo it was only everything else in the game that needed to be fixed, not the pitching/batting. I really hope that the next "news" is actually news about the game and that they've listened to people and fixed all these things. I'm just not holding much hope anymore.

It is a shame that NBA2k is the only game that gets a good budget, cause it is really good (despite the flaws). Could you imagine MLB2k with a MLB Today feature integrated in? I'd buy (as long as the above fixes were in place).

Maybe there'll be a PS3 sale sometime in the next 2 months...

If they were going to use all these players in marketing, they should've gone with regional covers. Casual fan in Washington is more likely to look at the display case and go "FELIX! I want that one" instead of just buying The Show like hardcore fans do.

This really insults one's intelligence. They think by having this ridiculous panel promote the game they can fool people into thinking it's the real deal. In other words, they think we're chumps who can't figure out the difference between style and substance.

What a freaking embarrassment this series has become.

How a company that makes such good basketball games can roll out this rubbish on an annual basis is beyond me.

More and more, I'm convinced that 2K's baseball game is lorded over by it's marketing department. People who have little to no interest in baseball, and probably have never played their own game are in charge of deciding the direction it takes every year. It must be frustrating to be a developer on this game.

Seems like a useless tactic. Instead of throwing money at the game development to improve it they simply squander it on players who will probably not have any input. I understand 2K is trying to generate buzz for their products since they're normally abysmal at it but unlike NBA2K, this isn't a good game.

After being disappointed with 2k9 (my first 2k baseball) game, I'm going back to either MVP or High Heat on the PC.
