Well, I guess people are bitching because they thought it would be possible for free to have a kind of franchise where you would build your team little by little, by upgrading your team card by card. In reality, due to the limited number of games for each card. In a way, it's good that you can't, otherwise after a given number of games, you'd have teams full of 99's. The problem is that if your ready to spend money on the game, you're actually able to get that team full of 99's and just pay to get contract extension cards and keep it.

I've already shelled out 60 bucks to get the game, I don't mind paying some more to get a DLC that really adds to the game, but I have no interest in spending money just to be able to keep up with the players I meet online.

I'm not really complaining, though, I just have no interest in the mode. I just wish it could have been more than it is...

Here's what I'm not getting... if you want to be one of the players that legitimately build up your team then you can wait till you are matched up against a similarly ranked team at the matchmaking screen before playing.

If you want to pay to have a good team then you can just play whoever is willing to play against you. I see a ton of variety in the rankings of teams as it is so it's not like it's unfair for the people who choose not to pay for card packs.

And the gold and silver packs are relatively cheap in real world money terms so it's not like it's ridiculous to invest a couple dollars into the mode either if you want to enjoy it more.

Just played a game vs the CPU All pro mode. I got 410 coins for the win. Score was 49-0. It seemd you get bonus coins for achieving certain things like rushing over 100 yards, passing TD's Rushing TD's and so on.

Yep, and also for holding the CPU to low numbers. All-Pro is the "base" level, and anything lower you lose a percentage of the coins you earn. I just finished a fun game on Pro vs. Dallas (loss by 11, but it was closer than that score shows) and earned 230 coins - after 40 of them were subtracted for that reason.

Still a fun game, and that's the way I intend to play this mode - against different teams. There doesn't appear to be any bonus for beating a better team (I beat SF by 20 just before), but I don't really care. Just as long as I pull enough coins to keep my team going, I can enjoy playing it like this.

It was actually pretty entertaining watching a bunch of 50-60's try to bring down MBIII...

Has anybody been able to invite friends to play online? It's not working for me.

This mode is actually very addicting. I played Madden into the wee hours of the morning. I haven't done that since the game was first released. I love the challenge of making my team a winner.

The best way is take your scrubs online. You can quickly tell if your opponent has a stacked team, or a team of scrubs. If the overall is similar to yours you are good to go. Even if you lose the game you still get around 300 coins. You get a Head to Head Bonus when playing online so that is a plus. I had a great game go to OT last night. I had a chance to win it but I missed a FG in the dying seconds.

Use the Auction feature. I have put several "Injury" cards and "Contract" cards up for auction, because people are always looking for those. Hopefully, I will get some good coin for them. I really need it.

Something else I found interesting. If you have several players from one real NFL team together your team chemistry goes up. Or if the head coach is from let's say the, Panthers, and if you have several Panthers on your squad the chemistry goes up even more. They borrowed that from FIFA, but it is a nice addition for this game. It adds a layer of strategy, and it prevents people from just putting all 99's together. Because their chemistry wouldn't be as high.

When a player's contract expires he is gone.

If a player is benched he doesn't use a game off his contract.

Example: I was starting J.T. O' Sullivan at QB, I didn't feel like renewing his contract. Jamarcus Russell was on the bench the whole time and didn't get any PT up to that point. He still has 10 games on his contract.

I'll admit, I'm addicted to this mode. Had a dollar sitting in my PS3 wallet and bought a gold pack, plus earned enough to buy a silver pack with coins. Got a decent 72 OVR team now. Marion the Barbarian as my HB, Gararrd at QB and DRC at corner so far. Also got a good contract card to keep barber another 4 games.

I also have three stadiums, 4 uniforms and the steelers super bowl playbook. Not sure how different that is from their standard playbook though.

Sold of a Trent Edwards card for a good 150 coins. Played a guy online and got crushed though, we had a similar skill team, but Sidney Rice and Pat white killed me.

I guess I will add my name to the bucket of people that like this mode so far.
I am upset I got challenge my brother, I thought it would be fun to see his team against mine. If I read correctly you can't play your friends so that is a minus to me.
Also I had no clue on the contracts, I played this around 11 last night and just concentrated on building a team. I did have to but some packs using my MS points, my time looked horrible and yes that's half the fun of building your team up but if I'm going to lose my players after a few games I'm going to need to rebuild so I may as well start strong.
The packs granted you pay for them are very cheap which I did like, I have 1000 MS points and spent maybe a little over 100 for a sold team.
I can't remember everyone on my team but off the top of my head
QB- BIG BEN / SCHAUB
RB- JEROME HARRISON
CB- AL HARRIS
FS- BOB SANDERS

I also have 49ers /redskins/ Bills defense
I have Tampa Bay offense
I have Ford Field / Raiders Stadium (whatever that is called now) and this years Super Bowl stadium
I have Vikings away uni / chiefs Home and Ravens 90's Home Uni's

But it is nice to extend a really sick legendary card for 12 games with the legendary contract extension.

I got lucky. I bought 1 legendary pack with real world money and got a peyton manning card that then sold in the auction for more than i paid for the pack of cards. Now my team is ridiculous and i still have money left over.
No you don't. If you go to Weekly deals and press R1 there are other categories and keep pressing it until you get to constant deals and you can buy a super contract for 750 coins which adds 12 to legendary and 21 to bronze and inbetween that for silver and gold and the normal contract adds 3 for legendary and I can't remember the rest it costs 250 coins.

QB- 2007 Brady
Rest of the team is all the players from the starter pack around 65 overall.

# 92 LingeringRegime @ 01/08/10 05:45 PM
Those of you who are using "Coins Only" use the Auction Block. I was able to get two Silver players for about 375 coins. A kicker, and DT.

Every offline game I've played (4 of them so far) has had no fatigue. I believe that may be by design, since you're playing against full-rostered NFL teams. When you only start out with a roster of 35 players, you're in a world of hurt when those guys get tired.

# 96 Jeetah @ 01/09/10 02:20 AM
Got really lucky with my opening players.

QB's - Leinart/Painter
RB's - Simpson/Bennett
WR's - Osgood/Hawkins
TE's - Jones

then bought another bronze pack and got Aaron Maybin! He's a beast off the edge.

# 97 Bash @ 01/09/10 10:32 AM
Well now I'm royally screwed. I have no money and a bunch of players from my starter pack are gone and I bought a bronze pack with the money I had left and it didn't have the players I need and now I'm trying to sell some of my cards but no one is buying

They should ad the Mini games in this mode so people who don't have enough players to play a real game can play them and earn coins so they can get some of the cards back.

# 98 CreatineKasey @ 01/09/10 10:37 AM
Yeah I can barely field a team without using money. I'm really trying, but the team is getting worse overall lol! Was buying 1 silver pack a mistake?

I can just see the creators now:

"Stick to the bronzes, poor boy!"

I do like playing teams that paid for players. It's like facing someone who doesn't have the skills to really build their team and wants to succeed without it. I can only imagine how painful it is to lose to scrubs when you have a hall of fame team. I love delivering that feeling

Exactly.

If EA would have made this mode without the ability to pay for coins to advance your team it would be absolutely brilliant. I feel like I am the only person on the internet trying to actually build my team by winning football games. NEXT YEAR PLEASE TAKE AWAY THE PAY FOR PLAYERS PORTION OF THIS MODE! PLEASE! IT IS SO GENIOUS BUT PLAYERS NEED TO HAVE A LEVEL PLAYING FEILD WHEN IT COMES TO BUILDING THEIR TEAMS!
