Madden 2010 News Post

Check out the Madden NFL 10 blog, which talks about the preliminary details of the 2nd title update.

Quote:
"In this second title update we focused on some of the more debated topics from our loyal and passionate fan base. We appreciate all the feedback so please keep it coming! In this update you will be happy to hear that we have tuned our Flat Zone assignments to cover the flats more effectively. Defenders will not chuck a WR if another receiver is running a route towards their zone. This will help the defender be in better position to react to a quickly throw flat route and allow him to make a play. The flat zone defenders will also play the ball better if a pass is thrown behind the line of scrimmage as well as taking better pursuit angles after the catch to prevent the ball carrier from being able to get around the corner. This has been one of the top complaints that we have heard about and realized it was definitely something that we needed to address."

well, perfect time to take a break from madden. ill be busy with CODMW2 for the next couple of wks anyways. no patch, ok fine, ill pause my great franchise right where im at, midseason so that hopefully for the last half, the most important time of the season, things go much smoother with the new implementations with the pathc

What kills me more than anything, is you see a FULL detailed list of patches for other games, even the new basketball games that released, yet they won't fully tell us the whole list of stuff they are fixing in this patch. if its in certification right now, then obviously what they are patching is finished, so why not give us the details? I am willing to bet that the patch hardly fixes anything, and its more mental than anything "woo I got the new patch, it fixed all of the problems" and then after we play for a while, nothing has really changed. If it was anything groundbreaking, they would be giving us a full detailed list and hyping us up for the release. They gotta know that they have lost alot of avid madden gamer's because of the bugs, so if they was in the least worried about getting their fans back on board, they would have been blowing up pages with full lists and hyping it up. I bet its a dud. I hope I am proved wrong though. I can't tell you how annoying it is when I am playing a game with my cowboys, and its talking about the bengals or the bears. WTF?

Peeps inpatience with patches, Madden patches in particular, trip me out lol.

Madden 08 was the first next gen Madden I played and I recall the 2nd patch taking quite a bit of time to be released. And that game was severely broken. Fast forward to today...why is there so much surprise and angst with the delay and lack of information? Shouldn't we all know the drill by now? If you absolutely hate M10 in its current state, will a couple tweaks and fixes completely change your outlook on the game?

See this why I'm waiting until the new patch comes out to start a new franchise

Ian,

Did you guys know that screen passes and swing passes to the flats are being counted as rushing attempts in franchise mode?

This kills your My Skill rushing score. Puts it way above All-Madden.

My Skill would work great if it wasnt for this. It's also messing up my stats for my running backs.

only if it's a lateral and in that case it should be a rush.

where is the damn patch.......

# 290 ballymenasteve @ 11/11/09 02:39 PM
Why the rush for the patch? It's not as if we're half way through the season already.....O, that's right , we are.

I can guarantee once the patch is released the silence from EA will be deafening, until Superbowl week when they start hyping Madden 11.

They haven't released any patch notes yet (like every other game does weeks beforehand), because they already know they haven't fixed most of the faults they know of, and they're just putting off telling us.

Oh well, heres to Madden 11, with it new pursuit angles, stadium sounds, flats coverage, and having actual numbers on helmets instead of coloured blocks.

I really really hope I'm wrong, but I won't hold my breath.

It is all horses#!@

the EA people need to show themselves on here and tell us what is goin on with the patch......

# 292 bigsmallwood @ 11/11/09 04:13 PM
Year after it is the same routine....smh....We as a community have to demand better on all fronts. This patch business is getting to be pathetic and yet by April 2010, we'll be subjected to "brand new" (read as should have been in the game already) features and promises by Ian and crew....I hope they deliver or look for deafening silence on sales....watch.

Again, frustration with the overall delay with getting this game in repair aside, the outrage over a lack of updates is odd to me. They said it was in certification...after that, the only other possible status update is "available for download." Theirs nothing really for EA to say, as it's out of their hands.

Now, if people are frustrated over the lack of a list of fixes, that's more understandable...though we've already pretty much been made aware of what's to be expected, and a list won't change anything in the process anyway.

Sales were up this year, and more people are likely upgrading this holiday season from PS2 or even Wii considering the 360 and PS3 price drops. Regardless, the vast majority of casual gamers will never know a site like this exists or ever hear the name Ian Cummings.

True. The casual fan thinks Madden is great, and don't even care about patches.

Me, I can't wait until this patch drops. This game is sooo close for me if they could just fix some issues already mentioned and I can find some good sliders for myself, lol.

I'm in total agreement. Just a few more important fixes I'll be jumping right back into it. I don't know how much longer I can wait for this patch though. Some updates about it would be nice.

I havent had any urge to play Madden until this patch comes out. The magnetic persuit angles, unrealistic broken gang tackles, impossible to get any pressure pass rush and atrocious run blocking are killing this year's experience -not only for me, but 2 of my friends that I convinced to buy this game. Yes I know that slider mods help alleviate some of the problems, but we cant use them online and this is ruining the Online League we're playing.

The 2 guys are very close to trading in their copies and "never buying another Madden game again". - Their words, not mine. I on the other hand want to see how this patch will fix this broken and sometimes frustrating game. I hope it comes soon. This is getting rediculous. We are halfway through the NFL season already.

But it will change somethings. They give a list of all the things they fixed, and it will settle down alot of people cause we still do not know "exactly" what they fixed, everything now is people guessing and throwing out ideas and so many people are on the verge of not playing the game or purchasing the game again. Alot of people are waiting to start their franchise, and them not knowing what is being fixed could cause a problem too, cause they could be waiting around for something that didn't even make the list, and they had been wasting the past few weeks just playing exhibition games just for false hope that the patch fixed the problem areas.

I, myself, am enjoying the game regardless. Sliders adjustments and hardcore gameplay, and the game is playing near perfect, aside from stat problems and the bengals/bears overlays. I am on week 17 of my season, and soon as this season ends, the patch should be out, so its good timing for me. That and I just graduated my first draft class on NCAA 10, so I will start a new one with the new draft class uploaded, updated rosters, and the patch.

When did EA submit this patch, I thought it was about a month ago? The reason I ask is, I thought NBA Live10 and NBA 2K10 submittedd there patches after the 2nd Madden10 patch, but both of those patches have already been approved? What happend to Madden10?
