NBA Live 10 News Post

Check out the new NBA Live 10 blog, going over passing controls.

Quote:
"So for this week, we’re going to take a look at passing. Passing is one of those features that hasn’t seen a ton of new innovation in recent iterations. Everyone just expects to be able to get the ball from one player to another with as little frustration as possible. Sometimes that’s easier said than done. It seems like every year people complain about “directional passing,” saying that their passes are getting thrown to a different player than the guy they’re pointing at. We spent quite a bit of time working on the directional passing logic and re-tuning the system to accommodate the tendencies of different people. You’d be surprised at how different the expected behavior is from one person to the next when trying to throw a simple pass. Some people flick the stick, some swing it, and some people are always just off a little bit because they can’t compensate for the camera angle. Another tool we gave the user this year is the player indicator direction arrow. If you’ve seen videos of gameplay you’ve probably noticed a little arrow protruding from the ball handler’s indicator. That arrow represents exactly what you’re doing on the left analog stick at all times."

Again guys, lower difficulty to showcase a certain feature.

I wont even lie, Mike sounded like he was either home from a late night work day, or not up very long, and recorded that from his living room, and it was one of the best blogs I've seen.

That's how you do a tutorial, explained by the developer. He even put up the disclaimer so people would actually

Focus on the passing! I cant wait to get in some

Practice

MOVING ON.

Mike and co. I love it, nice work on clearing one of my finals fears for this game. I don't want to jump the gun but it seems we're gonna have the whole packaged delivered.

Definatley a BIG improvement (I applause)

Still wondering if the coaches ever sit down??? Every single video I've seen on Live 10 the coaches are pacing the sidelines...?? Do they sit down? Plz answer (not a deal breaker if they dont, Im just into small details like this)

Still dont think that looks like Rose....(Hey Im from the Chi-town, gotta represent Rose rite )

I did like the movements and it does look a lot more fluid than any Live we've seen.

Cant wait for the 5 min gameplay vid so I can get a better feel for the game till i get my hands on the demo.

The animations are so smooth and realistic! I love the animation sequence towards the end of the video where Paul made a few dribbles to get separation then took the fade. I'm interested to see what 2K has to offer this year, but so far I'm really impressed with the strides EA is making with their Live franchise.

Great vid. Passing looks good. New Layers of control. I'll always favor that. On the baseline layup, he fell afterwards. In the other videos, the guy never falls...so we know animation is not canned. Also, on ball d dribble contact look real good.

Now, this amazes me, the ability for the AI players to realistically space the floor. See, when he went corner w/ Salmons....then the guy in the corner, moves up to the wing. Or when he get ball up top, D. Rose clears away...they big guy on wing returns Post position....this is hotness to me. I cant even get humans to do this when I run.

Nice blog and vid. Loving the new freestyle passing and i don't think im gonna use regular direct passing ever again.

I don't know what got into ea this year but somebody must of lit a fire under their asses cause from all the vids i have seen live 10 looks like a completely different game and I LOVE IT.

This live is like a new drug that just came out and i feel like a fien that needs to get a fix. lol

Anyways the videos looked good. I really thought the animations looked jerky and unrealistic in the past videos but I had nothing to complain about here.

A hardcore 2k fan is starting to get pulled over and I never thought that would happen.

Kudos to you guys. I assume you have a few more ticks up your sleeve that we haven't heard about?

by the way loving the block on cp3 when you sent it out of bounds...nice

Hopefully i will be able to come with the weak side help and block somebody's stuff out of bounds.

Too anxious for the game.

I was watching this and my fiance came over and was like did the NBA already start? Who's playing? I said "this is a video game of NBA Live 10." She said "WOW, that looks real."

That's all I have to say about that.

Great Blog and Great Video!!

One question at 2.24 in the video: how do you throw the pass to your locked off the ball Player (Deng in this case). Just by using the pass button?

# 77 krazyboy225 @ 08/28/09 03:43 PM
and i saw drose try to save the ball from going out

Great blog, and I love how easy these new passing controls look. The freestyle passing, and the whole not losing momentum thing sounds great.

I don't know how many times I said this, but I can't wait until the 10th to play the demo.

These vids look great I'm going to playing the hell out of that demo. I can't wait to try out all this stuff myself.

My anticipation jumped up even higher with this vid. Man I hope this one leaks again because I want to play this one already.
