Yeah...but 2k10 is more specifically aimed at casuals as EA's game has a bit more of a learning curve with the skill stick...

...but thanks for your take.

What learning curve? Didnt 2k8 get eaten alive for having a steep learning curve.
Now you think Ea has the steeper learning curve with its simplified controls.

Yeah 2k8 sure did get eaten alive...I played 2k8, learned the controls in a day. There was a lot of ignorance that came from the abuse 2k8 took...don't underestimate that factor.

I'd say the skill stick has a lot more difficulty and experience required than 2k8 had.

IMO.

When it comes to all the one on one dekes I agree. I don't find learning them very user friendly honestly. The rest of is, easy. I also agree that 2K8's controls were not that difficult. Not near as bad as the so called critics and casuals made them out to be.

I've never had more fun with a hockey game than I had with 2k8...its my all-time favorite.

I have a feelin' NHL 10 might knock it off that pedestal though. We'll see.

LOL, OK. NHL 09 felt very pick and play to me.

Until you have to skate downwards and everything feels strange. I could never get used to that and now play upwards all the time.

Different strokes...

you know the rest, right???

2k8 player models were great these look stumpy like old EA games , triple play baseball and the old NHL EA series .
So bad I wont even purchase the game this year , first time since dreamcast
You cant even fix um with the lack luster mask creator , 2k do it right or dont do it .
Intros are ok but kinda of just like last year .
This game even with the visual improvement just seem like a last gen game to me and gameplay looks like the same north south tic tac IMO.
The goalie issue I understand. The Intros I think are better than last years for sure. As far as the gameplay, I wouldn't put too much stock into this lame IGN video.

Best intro I've ever seen in any sports video game.. wow.

Looks a bit sloppy, IMO.

They are still long ways to go but it's nice to see some improvement!

Wow....that's was just....very underwhelming to watch.

not to be personal, but can you translate this back to English so i can know wtf you're talking about?

So far, the only thing I get is that you're a teacher and don't really have any inside knowledge on being a commentator.

I don't see where this "experience" has anything to do with it. Drew and Randy have been broadcasting together for 10 years, and their job as broadcasters is to convey the action for those that aren't there. They do it with good info and enthusiasm so to keep the viewers from changing the channel. There is no reason why they can't show the same enthusiam with their script for the 2k commentary....it would certainly liven up the presentation of the game.

This is their second year doing it, so it should sound better. Thorne and Clement are able to show enthusiasm while doing their lines...why not Drew and Randy? And if they can't do it, maybe get someone from Versus, HNIC, or NBC that can?

The difference for me was that the skillstick was FUN to learn while 2K8's were not.
I admit I'm slow as it took me a good 20 games to really feel 100% comfortable with NHL07.
That said, I loved every minute of it. I never once felt frustrated.
And the controls were very intuitive and felt natural.

2K8's controls put a lot of options and power in the users hand, but they were far more cumbersome and not nearly as fun.
I still cringe when I think of how I'd have to press 2 buttons to skate fast.

That being said, I like the sounds of 2K10's control scheme. I'm very interested to see how responsive the stickhandling is and how these new contextual dekes will be.

Yep, twice now IGN has butchered the gameplay for this years hockey games. This is why the developers have to play a much bigger part in the marketing of their game. Like Littman and co. are doing and like what 2K started yesterday. The gamesites are a joke anymore.

I still don't think the videos like that are a total waste...you still get to see how the non-human controlled AI operates.

# 57 savoie2006 @ 08/12/09 06:47 PM
Kind of, there was alot of human vs human in the IGN vids. The Gamespot video on the other hand was nice and gave me a much better idea of how the AI reacts this year. They aren't a total waste, but as I said, I would much rather get it from the devs.

So delivering lines for me is easy, but someone that has not done it so much like Randy and Drew it takes time. Clem and Thorne have had a lot of experience in doing this.
thanks for the info captain obvious So what you're saying is that 2k hired commentators that aren't really good at what they were hired for. Got it, but i think we all knew that already. Thanks!

# 59 JimmyDeicide @ 08/12/09 10:54 PM
Thorne and clement pretty much nailed it first time i thought. If 2k5 was the first time that is.

Ugh, since when did "any ways" become correct English?Heck, I won't even go into the fact that it's being pluralized for some odd reason. I'm just curious as to when it became two words instead of just one?

lol, two Masters degrees. Suuuuuuuuuuuuure. Heck, I must be doing something wrong. I only have one in Biochem so I must not have learned enough in my years yet. lol

Less 2k loving, more time with the books.
