i hope 2k10 is awesome but i don't see how people think that's going to be the case when the track record says otherwise. they have released practically nothing about the game which is red flag #1. whenever i read the the 2k developers talking about their past version of the game they sound far less enthusiastic about them than a lot of the posters in this forum, which is strange.
NHL09 is considered beautiful (and I like the gfx) but they have oversized players, the jersey are not fitted like reebok jerseys, and they all are stocky built. Animations are nice but limited, alot of faces are way off. But NHL2k10 trailer showed players with more realistic proportions(goalies are a bit small on the legs though), nice textures and the skating looked good animation wise. Yet people slammed it ?

I donīt care much though, EA has always had it easier to to their inherited fanbase since the 16-bit era. I remember the thunderpuck forum days, the EA fanboys were in truckloads over there and pretty much nailed any game that wasnīt EA stamped.

Just relax guys and take it for what it is. NHL10 will be a solid game, I just wish there will be 2 good hockey games this year. Because 2K do deliver another flavour to the table, just as they have since NHL2k2. 2k9 was halfbaked, so I am hopeful they can be back to a better standard this year.

Quite honestly that seems to be 2k's whole motif the last few years, average to solid titles that severely lack polish and thats not limited to just Kush's titles. Just because VC is now the developer doesn't mean they should get an automatic pass. I think alot of people forget that Bish was still a producer for the game during the Kush days and I'd imagine his team at VC at the time still had a say in the direction the game took.
Engine imitations? I just love when people outside the industry "know" and "enlighten" people at forums. 99,9% sure... pshhh

Btw NHL2k5 looked awesome, was awesome and had great polish, it also had the best PBP - which EA took later ( the PBP guys) And oh, it was made by KUSH.

Stop the Kush hating crap, NHL2k5 is one of the best hockey games ever- Made by Kush. End of story.

I agree to an extent. The PBP is better than most games (including the NHL series minus 10) but I will wait to see a game top NFL 2k5.

I'm just happy we have 2 great choices for hockey this year. Competition is a great thing.

You hit the nail on the head with this statement...competition will only make each game stronger going forward.

Well, I sure hope. You can't really qualify that statement until both games are out and have been reviewed and put through the paces by us hockey fans.

I played NHL 08/NHL 2k8 a bunch, but last year I didn't play either near the amount of time I did last year.

I really like what EA has said and shown us about NHL 10, but I really want to see more of 2k10.. which I know will come at some point.

Having been a fan of 2k I'm not worried about that game at all but EA has shown some great improvements this year. That GM mode or be a GM is a brilliant idea. Talk about giving a game longevity. Besides that the game play looks improved based on the comments of those who have spent a lot of time playing that game and the videos they have put out, and the crowds looks outstanding. Something I'm a sucker for.

That seems to be the case this year especially. Both games seem to be trying to out do each other, although EA seems to have the upper hand because they have been improving at a rapid pace it seems over the last couple of years. I'm glad VC got into this so 2k can keep up.

In an unrelated note, this trailer was recently posted on Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5328017/nhl-2k10-p...on-goal-action) and around 65% of the comments on the video were negative.

I was thinking that the whole time. How can they possibly not make the in game model look like the real life counterpart? Hell, I could model and texture a better Ovechkin character model.

EA series has been far superior as a complete package the past few years anyhow.
(EDIT: I can't say I disagree with this totally but "far superior", IMO, is far too harsh.)

That actually looks like %&$. NHL 10 gets my money again this year. Why do they even bother anymore?
I don't want to play Debbie Downer here but I think the people who 2K are trying to impress with this trailer are laughing right back in its face. Thanks, Marketing! Hope the gameplay footage we see can bring some more positive stuff here and around the net.

I just can't stand that people actually want 2K to "give up" now that EA's regained control of the hockey market, just pitiful. Do people really want another Madden, NCAA Football, MLB 2K or March Madness?

People always do this on other sites. If they showed an NBA 2k10 basketball video you'd see 65% of people saying EA should give in. People don't realize that competition is important when making video games. They only see the dominant game and feel that game should take over. They also always talk about how they could do something better than the developers when they know nothing about game design. People are morons. Most of them have already decided what game they are going to buy anyway without knowing much about the game.
