NCAA Football 10 News Post

NCAA Football’s dynasty mode is one of sports gaming’s most heralded career modes. Not only has the mode been the most popular mode in NCAA Football for nearly a decade, it also took it’s act online to great success beginning last year.

Unfortunately, after just over a decade of incremental improvements, the mode has began to suffer from a lack of innovation and ultimately, it just feels stale.

Outside of the presentation, dynasty mode is one of the biggest reasons why NCAA Football 10 ultimately falls short of being praised as a great title. The mode itself is still technically good, but long-time players of the series are quick to remark how little the mode has seemed to change over the past few years.

Dynasty Mode is perfect. I hope they don't change a thing.

Good read. One thing I've always wanted was for dynasty to focus more on the coaches and school than the players, kinda similar to the 2k college hoops games.

I absolutely love 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. The rest I don't really care much for.

Is it even possible to include a real coaching market? Is there a college coaches association that can be paid off or something?

I like your wishlist. The more RPG-ish it gets - the better IMO. I like the strategy, the checks and balances.

Make mine the "simple" dynasty mode. All the stuff we have to do now with recruiting and the off-season and pre-season activities are time-consuming enough as it is. Having to do much more than that would be a nightmare.

You have some great ideas there...
My take is that NCAA needs (badly) an overhaul next year. Both NHL and FIFA have done this recently with great results.
I would base it off College Hoops 2K, alot of what we are talking about they had before its untimely demise, they had a lot of great features in Legacy mode.

I made a list of my own that I posted HERE.

Hope you guys enjoy.

it would be awesome to be able to upgrade certain facilities like the Stadium, Weight Room, Practice Field, Etc. depending upon how much money your school is making via the football program Also throw in a Tim Tebow every once and a while the recruiting seems to have set rating if i get the #1 recruit he seems to always be 84-86 why not have an immediate superstar once upon a lucky day and ADD POTENTIAL i'm sick of no one under a 5 star rating turning out great where are the Steven Jacksons, Steve Smith's, and other 3 stars that turn into amazing players

Some great ideas here. I personally would be content to see FCS, editable playbooks, formation subs, and pre/post game show back. Add those to 2010 and I will never leave the couch

Now, one thing to keep in mind is that we must be careful what we wish for. A.D. Mode sounds interesting but if you take away my abilities to schedule whatever team I want and where, that will have a negative impact on my gaming experience. I want to see more in-depth dynasty BUT I don't want to lose any abilities I currently have. Coaching carousels, and stadium editors are excellent, but don't take away the power for me to formulate my "perfect" schedule. Just my 2 cents...

OC/DC is somthing i wished for in the last 2 wishlist...but still nothing...some of these points written are valid...but one thing I hate EA for doing is removing the amount of coach options that were in the game...seriously...what happen to the digital coaches...I loved seen my coach get mad because of a stupid play...there are so manythings that need to be fixed with this game its not even funny...lets hope this years wishlist they start working on now...

I have been asking for these things for years. Great writeup. I hope EA listens but I doubt it.

EA could easily set up a customization feature that would be able to satisfy the crowd that wants a more simplified dynasty experience. (auto recruiting yes/no, coaching vacancies pool on/off, ...etc) Just make it as deep or as shallow as the user wants.

The only other feature that I have been wanting would be facility upgrades and stadium expansions. Both could be included in the budgeting portion though. You spend the money you get from bowl games / OOC games on those items. The main reason I want those is because it is such a huge part of real life recruiting.

The problem with EA is that they aren't really clear on what their goal is. Are they trying to create a simulation of watching a football game / playing a football game / or the entire college football experience? It seems like they kind of flounder between the ideas and we end up with this mixed bag that we have now.

Ultimately, they have the exclusive rights and we probably won't be getting any significant upgrade until sales start to suffer. Since football fans are so loyal and this game helps pass the time until kickoff, sales probably won't decline significantly enough anytime soon.

And don't forget recruiting violations. 2K8 did that very well. Something like that should be included in Dynasty mode.

I would love the option to save recruit classes. So not only are we going in and putting names for all the teams we do it for recruits as well haha that will be the day.

i remember in the old days NCAA (dont remember what version but it was on the ps1 and early ps2) had you decide who to send on a visit. from the head coach to a graduate assistant. and that effected your recruiting big time. bring that back with the budget (they used points back then)

Also have a calendar with a national signing day on it.. and be able to hire / fire folks for poor performance.. have a war room for preseason evals on current and future talent. have some practices before you cut folks.. i mean its kind of better this year.. I have a 2 star DE that came in higher than the 4 star DE i heavily recruited, and i ended up cutting him (the 2 star is 2nd string RE and he is beasting in his freshman year..)

I also noticed that we have to PAY for advisors and stuff.. up to 1000 points!! man that sucks as well!!! and you can buy several 5 star recruits as well WTF??

I still miss the players getting suspended in season. If it were a controlled thing it would really add realism to a dynasty.

I also enjoyed in the past the player confidence thing where younger or inexperienced players could get rattled in big situations or road games.

Both these items were last seen on last gen I think.

I would like to see them incorporate some of the recruiting aspects of NCAA College Basketball '09. I liked how it cost more points to recruit players outside of your pipeline states. Also, I think that they should have a campus or something similar to where you can build a gym (to increase athletic facilities) or a library (to improve academic prestige). I find it frustrating how these aspects are out of your control. Additionally, we need to be able to scout the recruits.
