We have just posted our week 1 Q&A with the Producers of Fight Night Round 4.

Quote:
Operation Sports: "What can you say about the legacy/career mode that will keep it fresh, until the next version of the game, which we hear might not be annual?"

Brian Hayes: A couple things. First, you can start your career in one of the original 8 weight classes. Playing as a Flyweight feels much different than playing as a Middleweight or Heavyweight. Each weight division will have multiple titles so you can unify the division and reign as an undisputed champion. You can move up a weight division (assuming you didn’t start as a heavyweight) and unify the titles there. All of these things, plus your popularity and Pound-For-Pound ranking feed into the Legacy Meter. You might not have what it takes to become the GOAT in your first Legacy. If you did, then you might want to give it a shot on one of the higher difficulty levels (there are 2 above the default level). You can also import created fighters into Legacy mode. All the while you will be receiving messages from your trainer, challenges from other fighters and playing the 6 training games that allow you to improve your Boxer’s stats."

Great read!!!

So now we're up to 20 imports for Legacy?? Last I heard it was only 12....

Hope we get some more details on what the "Wide" camera will look like

it is approaching RPG type level

Considering the fascination I still have with the Pac-Man vs Hatton Demo Matchup after playing it countless times.....Im still having trouble grasping how much Im going to love all the different fights I can make in the full game

Then you add in GameFace and the great CAB makers out there, with the ability to share.....I mean sh**, It'll be a while before I even think about getting into what looks like a great Online Mode as well

I'll spend hours just creating alt trunks for myself.......then countless more hours having fun tuning sliders

The only things that still concern me are:

Footwork(Needs to be faster)
CABs having the same stats you give them in Legacy Mode
Hoping the "Wide" Camera is truly a broadcast cam
Moving Fighters Up/Down in weight class for Play Now, so I can have a Taylor MW vs Pavlik MW for example

And well I guess I can live with the scorecards, when you put everything else into perspective

Good info.

I'm glad they we will see custom boxer info online (name on trunks/robes). That's a nice touch.

Great stuff!
But I have to respectfully disagree with Mr.Mahar about stripping of titles.
I hate it in real life too, just like I hate multiple straps, but it's part of the game.

You should be penalized if you refuse to fight your mandatory challenger. It would make unifying the belts that much tougher.

Sounds great, I can't wait for the game to come out.

I'm craving this game really bad. I need something to keep my mind off of Madden.

Lol agree but I need sumthin to keep my mind off of this! UFC is cool but as of now its ruined by online cheaters and spammers and career mode is bland(still good however)

Can anyone explain how the training works? I've seen the silly training games with flashing icons & such. From the interview, it seems like I'd be forced to play them. Any way around this? Can you auto-train for instance? If so, how badly are you punished for auto-training?

And developers are letting their personal feelings get in the way of a good game. He doesn't like fighters being stripped of titles so he didn't put it in? Sounds like the same guy that said punching in the clinch was boring, but included clinching as if not punching in the clinch is more fun.

Good info. I like the chart with the max numbers for hand speed, foot speed, power, etc by weight division. I see button punching will be added eventually....maybe.

i feel you on that. I have never paid for game ad ons and never intend to.

The possible button punching patch is an admission of failure? It could be viewed as being flexible. What other downloads are you talking about?

You can lead pass all day with no talent and win games if the more talented person refuses to use it. On the other hand, I dont think button punchers have a clear cut advantage. If so, why do stick users claim its natural. How can someone doing something unnatural have an advantage over someone doing something natural in competition?

Finally, the downloading comment I made goes along with patching. I don't want my hard drive space taken up by patches I should have never needed. That will eventually cost me more when I need a new one. It's not just EA with all this patching either. They all are costing us more in the long run.
Flying is unnatural, wouldnt a person who can fly have an advantage over someone who cant?

My only remaining question: sliders?

# 20 stlstudios189 @ 06/12/09 08:54 AM
I think they were trying to move the game forward by not having the button option in place and that was proven wrong by the fans and EA is making amends to their error and making in downloadable I highly doubt that they will charge for that.
