I love the wrist shot animation where you lean into it on one leg, looks great. I'd like to see more video of the fighting system, I'm concerned it's going to be too fast paced like NHL 08 where you just hammer at eachother until someone falls down.

Also, goalie helmets haven't made it in yet? Would love to see a few more real ones in the game, expected for sure to have seen MAF's . . . but looks generic. Minor detail, trailer looks great, my 60 bucks are already in the bank waiting for this game.

Thanks Don King. I'd rather you arrange a bout for me with some of the guys in the "Comeback AI" thread.

This is a licensing issue. IIRC, the artists who designed the masks argued the designs were their property, not the property of the goalies.

Why are fans without towels doing the towel waving motion? Sticks still go through other players. The player trying to trip Crosby was not even holding his stick, and it went through the ice. The Crosby shot looked so unrealistic. The puck floated off his stick before he even did his unrealistic-looking shot animation. Kipper also missed trying to turn around and swat the puck, so I hope he did not end up magically hitting it away.

What trip of Crosby? There was no one there. The Crosby shot looked like practice mode since no one was around him. The Ovie trip looked fine since the d-man was wacking at Ovie's leg so I'm not going to expect someone to hold on to their stick 100% of the time if they're hitting someone with the shaft of the stick. How long do you think the puck stays on the stick on a shot? It was a quick backhand shot. As for Kipper, kind of hard to magically hit it away when the entire swing is done and the puck is still falling.

What does any of that have to do with whether the Chicago fans are waving Hawks or Bruins towels?

Huh? I was not the one who brought that up. Fans who do not have towels should not be doing the towel waving motion. The collision detection was very poor as well and can hopefully be fixed. I am trying to help. The trailer looked great aside from those glaring issues.

When the player tried to trip Ovechkin, he let go of his stick. This is not really much of an issue. The issue is that when he let go of his stick, the blade sunk into the ice. Also, they cut the Kipper save short, so hopefully the puck did not end up flying ten feet even though he missed. As for the Crosby shot, it looked like the puck floated off his stick before he even shot. I may be wrong about some of these, but that is just what I saw after watching the trailer a few times. I just don't want NHL 10 to have all of these great improvements just to have poor collision detection and funky animations spoil it. I am not trying to be rude. I just want NHL 10 to be great.

Why yes I am. Did you see any of the flaws I saw? You had to see the poor collison detection. Other than that, it looked great. I would love to say it was absolutely perfect, but it was not quite there.

I have no doubt that this will be a great game, but from what we've seen so far, this will be for the most part, a second major patch to NHL 08 (NHL 09 being the first one).

Unless there's some big reveals at E3, this will be (NHL 08.5).5

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Very true.

Although no game will ever be perfect...but heck, I'm still enjoying '08'.

quite frankly, that logic shouldn't be applied to a game that comes out yearly with a $60 price tag. NHL 09 was a great game but IMO was definitely not a $60 upgrade from NHL 08.

I take it you don't play online. EASHL = Huge Upgrade.

Yeah, I'm not really a big online gamer. Everyone is excited over the Madden online leagues, but I really don't have the time to devote to that. Same with this. I'm mostly just looking for offline improvements.

I've said before that a really well done goalie mode could be one of the best features in any sports game, but so far it's been done pretty badly, almost an afterthought.

Wouldnt that make this years NHL 9 (8.5 + .5)? And to you, what constitutes a patch? Its a one year cycle, how much can you expect given the budget of this game? I think , on features alone, NHL09 was worthy of its namesake versus NHL08.

I agree.

P.S. Teen Wolf was an overrated basketball player and a jerk.

I kinda think that would be sweet if the stadium wasn't full every game. Say early in the season the team isn't that hot.... not that many fans will show up. In the other scenes (obviously playoffs cuz of the towels) you can see its definatley packed.
