Madden 2010 News Post

EA has just posted another Madden NFL 10 blog. This one talks about creating "next-gen" quarterback play.

Quote:
"Two days ago we added a new blog detailing the addition of a lot of new sliders and options to Madden NFL 10. This was met with a seemingly luke-warm reaction by some, as most were expecting a much more juicy feature or more in-depth gameplay information. So after talking with our marketing partners, we were able to all agree that we could release one feature that we are really excited about to try and appease those that may have been upset with the customization blog post.

What is the new feature?
Madden NFL 06 debuted one of the most controversial features in the history of the Franchise – QB Vision (aka the Vision Cone). The concept of this feature was simple: in video-game terms, replicate the vision of a real life QB and force/encourage the gamer to go through real-life progressions that a QB would do. You could use the cone to “look off” safeties, or follow different receivers as they ran their routes and made cut moves. If you threw to a receiver that wasn’t in your field of vision, you would expect a much more inaccurate pass. Better QB’s had much wider vision cones, emulating the concept that they have a better inherent knowledge of where all their WR’s are at all times."

Where is the second fluff coming from? Where is the rest of the math? And why are you asking us to solve it, when you've already solved for X which is garbage? Seems to me there is no solving to be done.

Also, if you take garbage and subtract out the derivative root of April Fool's Day you get no letdowns to this point.

I'm not sure what to think. I mean, this team is trying hard to restore the prestige Madden football once had. And to pull a prank may not turn everybody off (bc most in here find it funny), but it most def turn off some...

Th only reason WHY i think it's a joke is bc the colors are too dark. You cant see the receivers. I dont think Madden could afford to play a prank on their fans who have been looking for something great on this now current -gen...

We shall see....

Better be an April Fools joke. There's no way Ian would do this.

If the vision cone is back, sorry im not buy Madden10, and I know 20-30 other people that won't by it either if this is back in the game. I've been hyped for this game the past 2months and it seemed like finally was going in the SIM direction but sorry, signs, weapons, vision cones, etc on the players is not SIM, its gimmicks. I just want to get back to playing straight up football. I understand that some people may like it, but the vision cone makes the game look cheesy. God I hope this is a April fools joke.

I think Ian is sitting in his office laughing his *** off at this. It is quite funny.

He'll probably be on soon to say sorry but he couldn't resist it then BAM! hit us with a new blog about OL/DL interaction or Franchise.

Here's praying anyway

A few things here...

For one, I love the fact that they are bringing back the cone. It'll add another dimension to the game entirely (as most of you know). I think the fact that the cone would have to be turned off in-game would make for a bad idea, why not just have an option in the gameplay settings to have it on/off/optional just like it was on PS2?

Secondly, (although I know this is still in it's early stages) I would absolutely hate to have the color coding implemented. I'm only saying this because I am reacting to what I see and how much (or little) information I've been told about it. I think it takes away from the human error aspect. Since in real-life you don't have some magic light guiding you to make the correct pass, you shouldn't have it in Madden either. I think the cone in previous Maddens was perfectly fine (just implement the new controls stated in the blog).

Thirdly, (again, I'm just reacting to what I know so far) does the field look really short to any one else? I mean, if I hadn't looked at the field, I'd say the Card's were only 30 yards out max. This might be a bit of an illusion since the cone is overtop, but I'm just saying. And since the field looks so small, the players appear to be huge.

I certainly don't want to be a downer, but I figure this stuff is miniscule in comparison to some things people are posting about. But don't get me wrong, I love the fact that they're bringing back the cone, I just wish I had more information about it...

While this may be a joke, Im still all in favor of bringing back some sort of vision cone

Gosh Heaven Forbid that People making Pre-Snap adjustment/anticipation become more important..........I mean we all know real QBs just hike it and chuck it off their back foot to a general area.....

Also Ian, one thing that I hope isn't fake is the Steelers logo on the field being correct. It was upside down in 09 and it looks like its fixed in that shot.

That's not sim.
But you can say that about EVERY position you control. When you are the RB or LB or S, awareness always gets thrown out the window. Nothing is really sim when you are controlling the player - it's why its a video game.

Obviously QB is the worst of these but I'd rather see a different approach. I'd rather see opposing DBs get heightened awareness when playing against QBs with low awareness (to mimic reading the QB) than play with a flashlight or some stupid crap on the field. Its too cumbersome and ugly. I prefer simple controls.

As long as its an option, them bringing back QB cone is fine for those that like it. This April Fool's joke has gone on long enough. Dragging this out isn't funny anymore.

LOL... you see... and this is why Ian should of never done this.

So many people (especially the casual fans) are believing this.

I knew it was fake as soon as I read the title.

Do you guys remember QB Vision 2.0? Thought so....
