...DOUBLE facepalm. Where are these "screenshots" we speak of?

This ends NOW.

Discuss the screenshots, no need to EVER mention The Show. NONE, NADA, ZERO.

Screenshots are the topic. They can look good, bad, or you can notice things in them. But no where did I notice anything stating MLB 09 The Show.

Hey Steve, how are the custom soundtracks?Does the away teams music still get played like in 2k8?..I hated that.

I like the camera options. The graphics kind of look outdated though. It appears they have went backwards since '07. Hopefully it will play well and we will have two options this season.

graphics are fine to me....I'm never been a big graphics guy so I guess I'm not the best to judge, but they are fine to me. Not as good as 2k7, but good enough for my eyes at least.

I am more of a gameplay and if that is solid, I can overlook other deficiencies of a game such as graphics, accesories and all those good stuff.

From the screens, it really looks like gameplay can pretty much be altered to one's liking via the sliders, but let us see....hopefully we can

I've been giving the 2k series a fair shake since 2k6 and so far everyone of them didn't satisfy although 2k8 , even with framerate, i think was pretty decent.

This year , I will go through this upcoming demo with some of gameplay tests ....

1)how is hitting? is it organic? does it feel like you're pulling the ball when you're early or pushing when you're late? ( didn;t feel like this in past years). Are HRs over the top? how is extra base hits?

2) how is user pitching? can we give up walks? will our messed up pitches be mostly meatballs or just plain balls?

3) will players' ratings have impact on the field defensively ?

But I am really really looking forward to the demo because the lack of zone hitting in previous iterations just was a bummer, but they have it in this year so much better. Also, wow, the camera options are just awesome.....it WILL make hitting much better because 2k8's camera options were lacking and didn;t give the user the best view to judge balls and strikes.......

Plus we got all those sliders man...I really hope this game will deliver this year....we need 2 games going head to head.....that way we ALL win....

well all PS3 users at least....

I wonder how the NEW Pitching Sliders are supposed to work cause from what I've seen it looks like they've remove the Balls & Strikes Sliders

IMO VC is taking a big gamble going that route making pitching totally depending on Inside Edge & Ratings to dictate how a pitcher is gonna pitch..

hmmm

If your talking about the black and white screens with the ratings listed, those are older. They were just a different format to show us all the ratings for each team.

all the ones of menus, Fenway, etc are the newer ones, mostly meant to show off the games options and certain features people were questioning, I'd imagine. I'm sure there is more to come.

The AI Strike Zone Tendency could be both the balls & strikes combined?

Lower = More Balls
Higher = More strikes

????

Idk, just a thought. I didn't get 2k8 so I'm probably way off.

this is a huge gamble IMO....it could potentially be a game killer for hardcore purists like me and some others here. Cubsfan mentioned that there is an AI strike tendency .....but even if this works for the cpu, what will make USER pitching challenging??

I've noticed that there is a meter pitching speed slider or something like that, but even at the highest difficulty, it could still be too easy for some after time with practice. I'm sure it will be difficult at first, but after you get the timing down , strikes might become too easy to throw .

but again, the demo will tell us more about this for sure.....

p.s-at least there is a pitch rating influence, so it's not TOTALLY dependent on user skill, but we will see if all these sliders can recreate a realistic and challenging user pitching experiencce....I hope so, because I am optimistic of this series' direction under VC.

I hear you on that. No harm no foul. We are all passionate baseball fans (or we would not be here). And we all want the best out of these two companies we can get. And you are right, BASEBALL CANT COME SOON ENOUGH.

To come out apologize in a public forum speaks a lot about your character. You gained much respect from me. And I apologize as well if I got you upset in any way.

LOL @ the Sisko pic, was a good show.

Anywho, back on topic!

More pics of the new Yankee Stadium please!

Again, I didn't really play last year's game, but there appears to be several things to make the user pitching more difficult.

Like you mentioned, the pitch meter speed would make it more difficult similar to how it did for MVP.

Lowering the Gesture Recognition would make you have to be extremely accurate with making the pitch correct or it would probably be a bad pitch. That probably would tie in with the Hold Timing and Release Timing sliders as well.

I think with a combination of those 4 things, you could manage to make pitching more difficult if needed.

I tried with MVP's meter slider and had it all the way to the hardest....still didn't issue walks. I am afraid if EVERYTHING is dependent on user skill that we will master it after a while and then no walks problem will creep up again.

I would hate it if everything in the game's gameplay department is spot on and then it be ruined by the user pitching.

I really want to own 2 baseball games this year ......even if 2k's OFFLINE gameplay is slightly less than competitor's but it's generally solid , I would buy it and probably use it for online play as I have no faith with PSN ....none

I see what you mean, but that was more of just a flaw of MVP. To give up walks on MVP you had to actually throw balls intentionally to work the count.

I just can't wait for the demo....I really really have a good feeling about this game.....

It might surprise me and even be the best this year....

Their was a bunch of good stuff posted by Steve, yet that wasn't talked about was it. NO because people can't let their anger over what this series has been for the last 3 years go..
Yes. Your spelling and grammar are atrocious.

Actually the shortest complete sentence in the english language is "I am."

Anyway. I am really stoked for this game. It really seems like VC "put the work in," so to speak. I think a lot of people will be surprised this year. I am.

Oh and good job on getting things back OT. Even though it took like 12 pages lol. Glad you guys worked it out. That's what separates us from other forums.

I'm more and more excited as well. I've been guilty in the past of saying that I wasn't sure that VC could "polish this turd", but I'm looking to be proven wrong. Let's hope framerate is good, and balls/strikes/walks are good. I still have my doubts that it will be easy to throw perfect strikes again this year every time.

Oh, and great work Steve! Can't wait to see some video from you!
