Playstation.Blog has posted this week's MLB 09 The Show blog. This one covers Road To The Show enhancements.

Quote:
"Hey everyone, Aaron Luke (Designer) here to bring you the next installment of the MLB 09 The Show. This entry will focus on the enhancements to Road To The Show. This year’s edition of RTTS has received enhancements to nearly every aspect of the mode.

Starting with the front-end aspects, the PS3 Create Player system has received some new editions that will allow you to customize even more aspects of your player. With the new Sounds Of The Show feature, we’ve been able to support audio customizations that will allow you to pick not only your batter walkup music, but also your reliever entry music and a home run celebration song. In addition to editing custom music, you can also create custom fan chants, cheers, and jeers to assign to your player (or any other player using the Edit Player feature). The player accessories have also seen upgrades to support a variety of new items including: wrist tape, batting gloves in pockets, glasses, eye black, baggy pants, and stirrup socks for your old schoolers. But the player customization doesn’t end with the Create Player process — we’ve also added in the ability to edit your player any time after creation. You won’t be able to edit his position or attributes, but you will have full reign on editing his appearance, accessories, and the all-important player number."

hahah i think with the chant editor i might get my wife drunk and do like some girls gone wild, "YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!, WOOOOOOOO" chants, just change it up a little..LOL

That's where my many skills come in handy.
I simply don't sign and move on to one of the MANY other sports I master.

I really hope they address that. No pitcher starts at AA throwing 82 MPH and "develops" a 97 MPH fastball over time.

Same thing with speed for hitters.

Awesome news about the options to fast forward. I loved playing as slow slugger but it was so boring to get on base as i knew i couldn't steal, so i just had to wait watching every at bat from my team mates, that was a really boring experience after a few games.

agreed. I can maybe see gaining a mile per hour or 3 due to getting stronger or maturing, but that drastic of a change is a little extreme.

you should be able to choose your repertoire also...if you want 2 pitches or 5

or if you want to be a power hitting 1st basemen...you should be able too

Yep...and start out with major holes in your swing. Or don't get called up because your defense is really terrible(in stats and in-game)

Has there been any discussion as to when the Demo version will hit the PS Store?

be cool if they had like a top 100 prospect list in RTTS

if you where mashing in AA and you look up and see that you were rated like 32nd on the prospect list etc...they could maybe have a scout or coach telling you things like your a bit raw need better plate discipline

Sounds like I need someone to start doing audio clips of the PA announcers to announce Old Time players to the plate.

Can you say?....in your best Bob Shepard voice...."Now batting...number FORty FIve....Danny TARTabull......number FORty FIve...."

AWESOME!

Knight,
I posted this PA announced walk-up idea in December and jpup and Rob_NYY said they would be happy to do PA announcements!

If you have a chance can you see how many seconds the walk up window is?

It looks like we also have a window of opportunity for PA relief pitcher announcements!

STIRRUP SOCKS? Baggie pants Wow is all I can say! Happy Happy Joy Joy!

I sure hope that "Glasses" means they will include regular glasses with sunglasses...

To all who are going have fun on your San Diego adventure!

Scooter....

What Im wondering about the custom chants is if we can put an mp3 or wav file for a chant. I wanna grab audio from a Mets game with the crowd doing the "Jose x6" chant..

# 56 Pared @ 01/27/09 04:35 PM
I already have a file that is pretty damn good that you can use.

This is probably a stupid question but they are saying that we are going to get drafted in RTTS mode how are they going to draft us, are they going to put us in a playoff in high school and go from there or what? Oh by the way thanks sony for the number one game of the year.....

you have to remember they are looking to keep everything TEAM color oriented. that would the the reason you wouldn't be able to change colors of acces... is my thinking... so whatever team you get drafted too or choose to be on... you have to seriously think if you want those colors on all your acces... again just how im seeing it at least... and it does make sense if you think about it

Wow..this mode is going to be even more amazing than last years. I got up to 2019 until I got bored with my RTTS in 08, and that's only because I got tired of standing on first base watching the CPU foul off pitch after pitch. With the ability to fast forward through this, I think I might actually be able to finish a career with a hitter. This mode will definitely keep me busy as I wait for opening day rosters to start my franchise.

# 60 DodgerFanatic2K3 @ 01/27/09 05:46 PM

Anyone else notice that your now shown the top pitch speed for each pitch that the opposing pitcher throws before you bat

Now that's what I call a scouting report.....

No more looking like a B*tch when I get two 68 MPH knuckleballs and then a 98 MPH Fastball
