Playstation.Blog has posted this week's MLB 09 The Show blog. This one covers Road To The Show enhancements.

Quote:
"Hey everyone, Aaron Luke (Designer) here to bring you the next installment of the MLB 09 The Show. This entry will focus on the enhancements to Road To The Show. This year’s edition of RTTS has received enhancements to nearly every aspect of the mode.

Starting with the front-end aspects, the PS3 Create Player system has received some new editions that will allow you to customize even more aspects of your player. With the new Sounds Of The Show feature, we’ve been able to support audio customizations that will allow you to pick not only your batter walkup music, but also your reliever entry music and a home run celebration song. In addition to editing custom music, you can also create custom fan chants, cheers, and jeers to assign to your player (or any other player using the Edit Player feature). The player accessories have also seen upgrades to support a variety of new items including: wrist tape, batting gloves in pockets, glasses, eye black, baggy pants, and stirrup socks for your old schoolers. But the player customization doesn’t end with the Create Player process — we’ve also added in the ability to edit your player any time after creation. You won’t be able to edit his position or attributes, but you will have full reign on editing his appearance, accessories, and the all-important player number."

Damn, this info is like some sort of knock-out blow...Absolutely insane with what they added into the mode. Being able to re-edit your player is the biggest thing to me personally.

Great job. And other guy above, chill with the "suck up" comment. That **** isn't needed at all. Your *** can just leave.

Since I'm old school I think I'll go with no batting gloves and stirrup socks.

That was a great blog. I am really excited that you can now get drafted and that you are subject to all of the roster/contract improvements (40-man, arbitration, etc.).

But the biggest improvement I like is the fact that the situational goals are now integrated as presentation. I have only had the game a month and I am just about finished with my first RTTS season as a SP (Ace in White Sox AA), and I was just thinking last night how great it would be if the goals were popped up on the screen. Getting pulled out of the game and thrown to a separate screen kills the suspension of disbelief.

You guys do a great job with this game. Keep it up!

Maybe a ballpark shot a day?

Much rather know if Turner Field looks like crap again or if it finially looks good.
Is it really hard to put up a screenshot? Let me ask you something, do you enjoy people getting upset when you're working on a project that has a definitive date that it has to meet and they are requesting you do something else? Instead of asking how hard it is to put up a screenshot, maybe you should be asking how hard is it to develop a video game.

In case you missed it, they are trying to finalize the game, get it ready for shipping, plus they are getting ready for the Community Day Event at the end of the week.

And in regards to your original post, you seem to have trouble distinguishing the difference between sucking up and being respectful.

Patience is a virtue man.

I'm glad they added an option to skip some of your teammates at-bat, all those foul balls got tired after a while.

I'm pretty disappointed there was no mention of PS3 Eye though.

Great stuff!

Getting drafted is fantastic. The perfect addition to RTTS.

Adding custom music to walkups and entering from the pen.
Sounds like I need someone to start doing audio clips of the PA announcers to announce Old Time players to the plate.

Can you say?....in your best Bob Shepard voice...."Now batting...number FORty FIve....Danny TARTabull......number FORty FIve...."

AWESOME!

Looks like lots of nice enhancements. I wonder if you will also be able to change the real MLB players appearance throughout the season (like last year when Giambi grew the stache and then re-dyed it every few weeks). The audio editing sounds great, it's going to be awesome to program Enter Sandman for when Mariano comes in from the Pen!

As for the dude complaining about no screen shots, if you're patient they will come. We still have the entire month of February before the game comes out. I'm sure we'll be getting a steady flow of info & media in the next few weeks, plus the OS community guys will fill us in on tons of details in a few days after their visit to SCEA.

We can't get a pic of the day but we can get this? Come on now. You play game after game on Legend mode but can't take one pic for a pic of the day? Remember we are the ones making it so you guys have a job since we buy the game. Just frustrating when we can't get one pic or a video or something.

Let the bashing begin. Just being honest and not a suck up like most. Still buying the game because it's a great game just wish could get some more updates like pics and vids.
Understand that they don't even have to come in here and give us any information. I think we've all become a tad bit spoiled. Just relax, screen shots will come in due time.

Only thing I'm curious about is the goals that weren't really that relevant to your player that, if weren't achieved, resulted in a demotion even though your stats were very good.

Closers, for example. I was continually told to raise my stamina and improve my fielding. There was maybe one or two periods where I was told to meet goals that were actually relevant to being a closer.

I love what I heard here. My favorite (aside from being able to continue editing your CAP-'bout time) is the fact that they geared more presentational aspects around your player. So now, you can see your guy warming up, get more specif stats, see related stats during goals, etc. That might be the best part in keeping this a deep experience.

Also, the new baserunning options and control mechanic's sound great too.

I continue to be floored by how much they are addressing in the last couple years. It just seems they've gone into overdrive addressing what their fans want. Well done

Very true. Plus, with the chant editor I hope I can switch up chants as the year goes by.

That way, when my humble "aww-shucks" 1B turns into a team-bashing, self-centered, foul-mouthed a$$, the chants can change from "MVP!" to "YOU'RE AN A$$HOLE!!!"...insert foot stomp here)...LOL.
