Playstation.Blog has just posted their MLB 09 The Show blog, featuring Franchise Mode enhancements.

"Hey everyone - MLB FE team here to bring you the first installment of the MLB 09 The Show blogs. For this entry, we’ll be talking about some of the details that have gone into the Franchise mode enhancements.

When we set out this year’s plan, one of our goals was to blow out the personnel aspects of the Franchise experience. Starting with the beginning of spring training, the rosters you will carry into spring will be those of their real-life counterpart, the long awaited 40-man rosters. Now you will have to manage your Spring Training roster a little more carefully to ensure your young players get the looks they need.

Moving on to the regular season, you will now be dealing with many of the various roster-related items all GMs have to deal with. You will be in control of designating players for assignment, waiver transactions, handling Minor League options, and managing your 40-man roster. Once in June, you will have the Amateur Draft to participate in. Along with drafting players, the Amateur Draft also includes Supplemental picks for those teams that failed to re-sign Type A or Type B free agents in the offseason."

Does anyone know what illness I can get(that won't kill me) that will keep me out of work the longest?

I wonder how much "lost work time" the Show has caused?

They should re-name this game "MLB09: The Sh*t", cuz that's what it's going to be... The sh*t!

It's times like these that makes me so glad I'm self employed!

Depending on what you do, vertigo works well. Also Gonnosyphaherpilaids is good...but that might kill you

You can get two weeks out of pneumonia. I was out with that in December. While it was not fun at all, nor is it completely gone, it did keep me in the house. Just cough whenever your boss calls.

Me, I'm taking a day or two off work to play.

So... the lighting looks good, and the addition of 40-man rosters opens the door for all the new roster movement features (rule 5 draft, waivers, etc.). I hope the cpu's AI is sharp...

Knight, you better make sure that illness is spreadable because you don't want anyone coming over to wish you well...just to find out you're jumping and screaming with joy because you're playing the show.

Wow, great improvements!

The only thing I never really liked, even since at least '06, is the font. I think it's mostly the fact that they're all capital letters, but oh well. Sometimes to deal with a piece of treasure you need to wash your hands before, right?

Haha!

You're right....but I'm gonna have to really be sick. I've never tapped out without being hurt or sick. Maybe just a slight 2nd degree burn to the neck and ears..that's good for 3 weeks. Should be easy enough...it's the busy season...I just won't wear my hood a couple of times. One of them is bound to light up on us!

We do that for readability - making lower case fonts has always been an annoyance for us

The SCEA team has gone far beyond my expectations with this franchise depth. This will be a classic.

Smart ***!

It's fine here in monitor land. It's CRT's that screw lower case fonts.

Like everyone here, I cannot wait until the release of The Show. The franchise features alone will greatly enhance the best baseball game ever.

A couple of posters seemed a little intiminated by all the franchise additions. Another great thing about The Show, have the CPU do the tasks that you do not want to tackle. As for me, bring it. I love the direction and development this baseball series has taken.
