MLB 2K9 News Post

Pasta Padre has posted the features list for Major League Baskeball 2K9.

"As expected it appears that they’ve attempted to simplify several aspects of the game. The trading card system looks to have been improved and more has been done to add to the authenticity of the experience. Providing the basics such as a smooth framerate and solid online performance are a necessity for this year, but other than those things is there enough here to deliver the game consumers have been hoping for?"

I think I like that there isn't any "big new feature" though..

Maybe (hopefully) that means that they're focusing totally on fixing up the game engine and gameplay... that's really where they need to start... not on any gimicky modes or features...

Totally Agree. It would also of been nice if they would've mentioned something about Franchise Mode..

Screenshots please!

Vendors in crowds mean nothing, if the people sit 3 seats apart.

This is true. I'm really hoping they fix that. My guess is they are gonna go the NBA 2K9 route with this Real-Tine World addition

I think the list sounds good. Glad to see Zone hitting. Willing to give it a chance.

I'm sorry, but posts like this come off as pure hate. 2K8 was crap, we don't need to rehash that over and over.

I actually like this list. It seems (and it's to early to tell for sure, of course) that they focused on meat of the game and not some big, new, flashy feature. Some of the gameplay ideas intrigue me (being able to eat a throw, zone hitting-yay!, quick throws, etc) as well.

The thing that stood out to me was the "living ballpark" portion of the list. This type of thing is right up VC's alley and sounds quite promising if they hold to there presentation standard.

That said, it all means little if everything still looks washed out, the crowd looks jacked up, and the game hasn't changed from an "under the hood" standpoint.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this game looks in motion. I still won't be buying (there is nothing they can advertise at this point to sell me on the game...lol), but I'm rooting for it to be good. I'll definitely give it a look via rental

I like that the list doesn't have a big WOW!!?!! back of the box feature yet. The game needed to be re-built and as an XBox 360 owner I hope (because I have to) that 2k9 will come out and play a good solid game of baseball.

Thats the same way i feel. IMO zone hitting is the most realistic way to bat in a baseball game. I just hope the gameplay is tight.

Some screens would be nice

Since this is the only baseball game I'll have the opportunity to play, I'm going to be optimistic here. The list doesn't wow me, but it does suggest that 2k realizes what The Show gets so right and is making adjustments to do some of those same things.

I played the hell out of The Show, and what I loved most about it was the immersive atmosphere. The living world stuff sounds like 2k's concession to needing to nail the feel of being at a baseball game down better.

doesnt sound bad...I like the living ballpark ideas, but if we get 2k8 graphics instead of how good 2k7 looked, it will still be disappointing.

With some of these updated things, and NO jon and joe and a playable frame rate, it COULD be potentially playable.

but...we have been burned before. ie, vendors moving in the crowd was promised for 2k7

Sounds good. I don't want promises. I want to know they are moving in the right direction and I think this list shows that. Zone hitting and the Reelmaker will be nice.

Good news about zone hitting and ballpark atmosphere. I hope they improve the audio too.

Meh, the list is ok. But the cards they should have thrown away, but I love the new sig styles and celebrations! Yeah, finally walk off atmosphere. If the gameplay sucks again, I'm going to the ps3..

Living ballpark does sound very intriguing. Wondering how that will play out. I didn't hate 2K8...but didn't love it either. Can't wait to see what 2K9 will bring us
