Madden 09 News Post

Wil McCombs may be late to the party, but he recently got to check out the Madden Nation TV show for the first time and he didn't like what he saw. Check out his thoughts on the Madden Nation TV show in his article The Abomination That is Madden Nation.

Quote:
"I may be a little late to this party, but have pity on me. After all, I’m old.

This past week, I sat in my less-than-stellar hotel room in Norwalk, Conn., wearily searching for something to watch on television. A frequent business traveler these days, my few meager hours of free time are spent watching drivel on limited hotel cable packages, rather than being spent throwing long TD passes and running a mean spread option offense from my couch. Truly tragic stuff."

This show is why I'm starting to believe Madden will never be Madden again. Even w/ the two guys here posting, the fan that matters is the fans on that show. Those are the majorities and where EA will be getting all their money from. The show is a joke as well as next gen EA football, the only sport in the genre that can't get it right on next gen. Pfft

Thought this was pretty funny!

You have received a warning at Operation Sports Forums

Dear PaulZweber,

You have received a warning at Operation Sports Forums.

Reason:
-------
Insulted Other Member(s)

Okay, I realize you are less than happy with Madden. And you made a lot of good points, but the "lack of talent" thing turned it toward the insulting. You don't have the right to make it personal, please stick to the issue with the game itself. Thanks....

I don't think two games is the answer, although I agree with what you are saying. The time and money it would take to get TWO quality games out is something they are not willing to spend. Not to mention the lack of talent they have shown to be on there team. They wouldn't invest twice the time, twice the money, if they wouldn't make twice the profits. EA is all about money, not putting out quality games.

Warnings serve as a reminder to you of the forum's rules, which you are expected to understand and follow.

All the best,
Operation Sports Forums

Lame.....

Yep, I guess I didn't see the OS rule where critisism of EA or anyone affiliated is not allowed. There is no one from EA in this thread, and none of my posts were directed at anyone from that company.

Hey, Paul, no worries. I am totally on your side and completely agree with you. This is what happens when socialists take over and want to oppress your freedom of speech. If Paul wants to call EA a bunch of "lack of talent " nobodies, he is perfectly entitled to do that per the first amendment. Granted, they can still warn him, but oppressing that is pure socialism.

I hate to bring politics into this, but if OS wants to play politics, we sure can. I don't know Paul, but i agree with him, and it makes me sick to my stomach that this site would warn him because he criticized their beloved EA. What has happened to honesty and accountability in this country?

You are right Paul, EA does not care, and they have shown a lack of talent in recreating the game of football. How can anyone discredit that with their arcade-style gameplay, suction blocking, horrible animations, or anything else we have griped about? Anyone with a Video Game design degree can make a football game, but in order to understand realism and get the natural ebb and flow of true football, you need to be a top-notch designer who can create realistic animations and collision detection and also have PLAYED football or have a vast understanding of it. EA has clearly showed they have neither.

Why can they get this right for NHL 09 which is arguably the best hockey game ever made, but they can't get it right for Madden or NCAA? And Hockey is one of the most difficult games to recreate into a simulation, but EA managed to do it. That shows talent, but that is the Canadian team. Maybe EA should let them make a football game, cuz the American team? Well they sure as hell aren't getting the job done.

I completely agree with you Todd. The reason I was warned is because a Madden Dev complained about my post. Apparently I offended him. Not really sure how, seeing that he wasn't in the thread, and it wasn't directed at anyone in particular. I find it funny that they are on the board "moderating" my opinions.

# 67 TheTodd84 @ 10/23/08 04:14 PM
It's funny, but most of all sickening that they would moderate your opinions. I just can't believe that this would even be allowed in America. I can understand in Venezuela, with socialist Chavez running the joint. lol.

But we just want a good game, that plays like real football. I just don't understand why that is so much to ask.

# 68 PaulZweber @ 10/23/08 04:53 PM
It isn't so much to ask, but it is too much to recieve. Yep, cencored on a public forum by a big company.

While I agree thatr many moderators are coming across as oversensative here lately, I think it's funny people keep mentioning constitutional rights and freedom, etc. This is not truly a public forum. It's a member driven one and there are TOS we agree to before we join. This means those rights don't apply. It's actually at the sites discretion whether or not we are allowed to participate and just how we do so. You may not like it, but you don't have to post here.

Again, I'm not speaking to the actual fairness of some of these warnings/infractions (human beings are prone to making rash decisions...even if the're moderators). In fact, I've noticed a good amount of inconsistancy from the moderators on this particular forum. Maybe it's because the line between criticism and insults has become so blurred since some can't consuct themselves in a mature manner. I dunno. My comment was just about the falsehood that some people are alluding to that our rights somehow being violated. It's just not the case...from a literal standpoint, that is.

First amendment doesnt apply here, like the other guy said. They dont even have to let you post here at all. And I think you can express your opinions without calling out people you dont even know as lazy and incompetent. People, even moderators, Im sure just get sick of seeing it. I mean we KNOW you dont like the game and its not good enough for you. Why keep at it? That is just trolling really.

# 72 PaulZweber @ 10/24/08 12:23 PM
Doesn't apply here bud.

The Abomination That is Madden Nation
This thread is about what is wrong with this game. If you are here to argue that, then you are the one "trolling."

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

So it seems the consensus is, Madden Nation sucks and it's destroying the youth of America.

Essentially that is what alot of people think, I was fan of the show when was coming on to see how much better these players were.

It was a good idea for one season when they had legitimate players on it but essentially now it has gotten down to the point of anyone who wins a Madden Challenge or plays online with a high rank can get on it.

It does seem to me that it hypes the ability of the thugification of middle america. Most of people that appear on Madden Nation are younger College kids or a variety of players of the Madden community who stake their claim in life to a video game. (Only two older players appeared on the show, Packwolf and 40 G's)

It also funny to see how many of these great Madden players have fallen due to the changes in the game, Big Gene was allegedly the best player in the world and is blip on the radar. Secret who talked his way in season 2, hasn't done anything since.

The show is pure entertainment and is enjoyable to watch just for the "players" reaction and not the game itself. Madden always takes a back-seat on the show and it is in the end all about who can out-talk someone else when winning.

I dont have to agree with the thread. If you're getting emotional because some people disagree with you then you have a problem.

Peter Moore will help EA make "Big-headed tennis games." Awesome.

# 78 TheVinylHippo @ 10/29/08 01:03 AM
The only guy on this show I can tolerate is "Nephew". He's quiet and plays sim, most of the time.

# 79 steez3 @ 10/29/08 01:15 AM
how do they decide who gets on the show? is it the top 10 ranked players on xbox live or something??

# 80 elTodd @ 10/29/08 01:37 AM
Just saw the finale of the show. "Nephew" won the game. He was up seven and had the ball with under a minute left and his opponent having no timeouts. He then proceeded to kick a field goal as time expired to put him up by ten. What a joke.

Is this what goes on at these Madden Challenges around the country? Shows how little respect these Madden players have for their opponents.
