We have posted our review of NBA Live 09.

Quote:
"At one time, NBA Live was the king of basketball games. Not only was the game the best around quality-wise, but it also sold in large numbers to anxious fans nationwide.

As of late, the Live series has fallen on hard times. The game still sells well, but the first two editions on next-gen consoles were atrocious. NBA Live 08 began to bring the series out of the gutter, but there was still plenty of work to do. Enter NBA Live 09."

open ur eyes people...call me what u want...fanboy or whatever..live sucks...it has for years...it was never going to do well on next gen consoles purely because they built a fan base because they had no direct competition..but now the likes of 2k series have a better foundation.. agreed that games never come out of the box to suit everyone..thats why u can tweak things with sliders and settings....down and dirty.. live has bad graphics and the motion capturing is horrible, they don't even have signature shots...wtf? how can it be realistic if you don't have that....sure adding FIBA teams and the likes of Live 365 (which i have been told you need to pay for??), the 2k series have only played with things that need to be changed, i will continue to buy 2k games, until EA sports makes some serious improvements, but hey each to their own, thats why they have forums...

Thanks for the giant run-on sentence admitting that you are trolling. Never played the game, therefore you know it "sucks".

Why are you even in this forum? Go back to the 2K forums and enjoy the game you chose instead of bashing another game for no reason other than to make yourself seem "cool".

Man you guys take this seriously, but he did speak some truth about Live, Im not bashing at all but there is no signature shots accept for a couple I did notice Garnett's shot was on point, and they tried to get Ray Allen's but not so much. But overall its no comparison on which game is better, but everybody has there own opinon.

I'm just curious... what is so impressive about the defensive side of the ball?

It seems like it has no effect on the shooter and aside from the pushing in the post and the different degrees of "lockon" there isn't much else that is impressive.

Don't even get me started on the lack of challenging shots in the post.

Ok man you dont gotta like EA or the Live series but dont come on the board spreading a bunch of lies about the game it does have signature shoots, you dont have to pay for live 365 if you buy it new and even then the price will drop so they proable wont even make much of it, I mean live 09 isnt better then nba 2k9 but it is a solid game, I'm not trying to convert to live or tell u to like it. But sound like a straight up child coming on a thread just to spread lies abut a game so you can feel good. If you had the game then then you have all right to not like it and diss it but pretty much proved you dont, so you came here to do the whole 2k for life EA sucks which is common on any game that has a EA symbol on it. Seeing how there there the so called evil empire cause they out bided 2k for the NFl rights which was put out by the nfl.

In my experience, contesting the shooter works in every situation except for in the post. Almost every shot out of a post move seems to go in. Aside from that, I actually agree that there are a lot of positives. First off, the AI switching is faster and sharper, and that's a huge step forward in bball defense. Now you're not stuck with mismatches for a whole possession if you trap or double team to get your way out of those situations. The off the ball defense is great, the block/charge collisions are great, and a little overlooked right now. People are only pressing the take charge button to actually take charges, but it is also extremely useful just for putting penetrators on the line.

If people used the B button more, the defense would double in "sim" quality.

Also, the increased options out of the double team are a step forward for basketball defense. We have step throughs and more variables overall so double teams feel much less scripted. Lastly, the increased ball physics make the passing lane defense much, much more logical and does the same for the shot blocking and alley oop defense.

The shooting slider needs to go down in 2k9, but I think that skews the perception of much improved defensive mechanics.

Hehe, on topic, nice job on the review. I don't have the game, so I can only compare the accuracy of the review to the demo, but the content, perspective and insight were all head and shoulders above the generic site sports review.

If it makes you feel better I'd agree with you if this were the 2k9 forum.

That actually does provide some comfort.

I misread the quoted post that Pared posted and thought the guy was talking about 2k's defense. I was sleepy. I hadn't had coffee yet. My shoes were untied. My dog ate it

Live is still playing catch up. 2K9 is just a better game. I have both....Live for the kids and 2k9 for the adults.

I have been playing basketball since I was 7 and I have played organized ball for half my life..I also used to work for EA as a tech support rep. I have insight into the company's way of thinking and I can tell you as a former employee that Live is what it is. EA does not want to spend the money to rebuild the engine because of the money they have in various projects and I am sorry, being that I used to play organized ball, Live is not realistic AT ALL. Anyone that says it is has NEVER played organized ball. I got both but I am turning live in. Nba 2k9 is the closest thing I have ever played to real life ball, you actually have to think basketball to be good at this game. I am not a 2k fanboy but I gave both of them a chance and this game is better than last years Live but still is not on the level of 2k. EA is going to have to break bread and rebuild this game if they want to stand a chance. I am tired of my old company putting out this unrealistic, sizzling hot garbage year after year.

You are going to have to prove yourself with a statement like that.

# 60 vagentleman76 @ 10/10/08 03:23 PM
prove it??? I worked at EA studios in Charlottesville VA from sept 2001 up to oct 2002...we did tech support for the ea.com website until they out sourced and closed down our facility... i still keep in touch with the higher ups that still work for the company. they also tested games at that facility...so no i am not lying..i did work for them and they are a wonderful company to work for but they just make unrealistic bball games. i would love to say that i worked for the company that makes the best bball game but that would be a lie. and as u can see..i dont lie.
