If thats the big announcement it is really disapointing, atleast to me

so after so many ranked games, you accumulate statistics in which you are placed in the fantasy pool and these "pros" choose who they want to run on their team (based largely on the accumlated stats for reference) to go head to head against one another??

sounds like a top-tier elitest cheese fest where maybe 20 of the "top" guys compete on these teams.... with others fighting for their chance with accumulated stats that can impress others.

sounds sorta like a clan grouping so to speak.. they could just go that route and also include the nba players teams (as a gimmick). the vast majority cant partake in that aspect though. so maybe they have expanded plans in store

So much for a Gamespot "exclusive"....

this is kinda cool I guess but i dont play online much so I highly dont im gonna be on any of the guys draft boards.

Hopefully you can interact with your star that picked you, like KG could be the coach, yelling at his players through his headset...lol.

Why does everyone just assume that you could just cheese your way to victory in 2K9? Not one person has played it yet. Who knows, maybe 2K made it harder for people to cheese online.

# 6 Starrtech @ 09/17/08 03:53 AM
But don't they have teammate rankings now? so ppl will sort of know how legit you play?

Meh, I don't care about online play so I'm not excited if that is truly the big shocking announcement.

The day there is no cheese in these NBA games is the day they perfect gameplay.

You can cheese your way to victory in any game if you know the cheese tactics. And a cheeser with any bit of skill at all is a very very dangerous opponent.

Thats dumb... If that's the big announcement then it sounds pretty disappointing.

The issue isn't cheese, which is a subjective term about what is a fair choice in gameplay. The issue is exploits. Exploits are flaws in the system that break away from the principle of the game. The lead pass in 2k8 is an exploit. Certain dunk animations are exploits.

Every game doesn't have major exploits that ruin the spirit of competition. NBA 2k always has.

I really hope this reverse fantasy league isn't the announcement. How could anyone at 2k think we'd care about this?

Casuals and younger kids will eat this up. If I ever told my brother he could be picked by Tmac(his favorite player) and be on his team, he would go crazy.

Yep i never playing fantasy league...not interested. To me it's the same as ONLINE ASSOCIATION...why don't they just focus on ONLINE ASSOCIATION...it is much better and more realistic.

Man if this is the big announcement.... I mean whats going to happen when the nba season starts??? they not going to have time to go home to pop in nba2k9 and draft online players.

# 14 nowitzkiftw @ 09/17/08 04:38 AM
EA-esque gimmick.

Trust me, these dudes have a good amount of downtime. I played COD4 with D-Will a bunch of times from Dec-Feb of last/this year. Of course dude stopped playing when the race was getting tight down the stretch and the playoffs. This was on XBL and no...I'm not giving away his GT. :-D

Back to the topic, they have time brah.

# 16 KENYON06 @ 09/17/08 04:44 AM
Hahah.

I was expecting something bad though, but that's almost worse than 24/7 mode if it is the BIG announcement.

Thats cool didnt know they really had that much downtime with pratice and workouts. But back to the topic i just hope this isnt the "revolutionaly news" that they said it would be cause like the other poster said this "reverse fanasty" thing is something that ea pulls.

It's funny how the thread starter creates the title: KG himself leaks Announcement.... then reply a few posts after saying he is going to be disappointed blah blah blah, and blah blah blah.

You know what...? I'm willing to bet that's not it... if that is then seriously I'd get really really disappointed but don't bank on it on the OP's words... some really impatient kids get here.. can't you all not understand: TOMORROW? Jesus.

Nobody's banking it on the OP's words, they're banking it on KG's words.

Why all the mystery? Seems the commercial Garnett is shooting is for a secret new mode in NBA 2K9, the same game that also features KG on its cover.
"It's a reverse fantasy league," Garnett explains. Seems KG, Derrick Rose, Monta Ellis and a few other NBA stars are going to draft online gamers to see whose team can accumulate the best 2K9 stats and the commercial Garnett is shooting shows some of his real-life best friends from what he calls his Official Block Family begging to be on his squad.
Only thing is, if they are going to air the footage I saw, it's going to sound like "Beep, beep, beep. No you can't be on my beeping team you bleepity bleep."
