Madden 09 News Post

Have you played Madden NFL 09's Superstar Mode yet? If not, consider yourself one of the lucky ones that hasn't had to endure the pain just yet, at least according to Wil McCombs. McCombs examines the mode in his article, Madden Superstar Mode an Exercise in Awful.

Quote:
"Perhaps I’m both a sadist and a masochist. Is there really any other explanation?

Every year, I devote just a little bit of time to Madden’s Superstar mode. Not because I really think that I will enjoy it. No sir. I do it simply, because it is so brutal. But why, you ask, do I immerse myself in this agony, even for a moment? I have a two-part answer."

I think it has potential but WHO EVER HAS BEEN SLACKING IN EA NEEDS TO GET IT TOGETHER. I mean really it amazes me how horrible it's been. Hey guys you bought the ESPN license, USE IT ALREADY.

Ian its time to take the superstar mode off the game. It was fun when it first came out but now its bad.

Your could be using that space for something else.

I disagree with the guys that say they should abandon the mode altogether. I'd much rather have them improve on it, for instance they can get more meaningful E-mails, I mean you can literally go through your whole career without opening that thing and not miss a beat. They can also have you be traded away without requesting it because people don't always choose to be traded. Also fix that whole Hall of Fame in two years crap. Get some better drills because being a RB with one blocker facing 3 LB's sucks.

The thing I hate the most about this mode is that once I get a lead the game starts calling ******** plays and uses horrible clock management that lets the other team stay in the game and even beat me sometimes.

I'm with you 110%... I've always been on this side of the fence with this stupid game mode... It belongs with the ring builder and card collector things of old. It simply needs to either be done away with, or included only as a DLC and nothing more.

I honnestly wonder just how much space and time it does take them in order to include this feature every year to simply fill up the disc?

Could that time and space be used to include more animations in every aspect of the game?

Could this time and space be used to include important features long since left in the last generation versions of this game like those for the franchise mode?

Could this time and space be used to creat something which would actuely make the game better and more unique, like a fully functional play creator?

Could this time and space be used to bring the franchise mode that much closer to what we got with Head Coach, which in my opinion as well as many others, think this is what a franchise mode should be like?

Could this time and space be used to creat a better and smarter running engine in order to creat a truely new and unique playing game of football...

Keeping this outdated game mode is like a guy saying "I like my two beat up and rusting ricer cars. And I'd rather have these two ricer cars instead of one mint super car that costs the same price." You can have two flawed and worthless things, or one truely great thing... The choice is (I'd say yours, but that isn't true) EA's... To be continued until 2012.

P.S. A thought occured to me the other day. I think gamers are going to the wrong place with their complaints about these games. We're happy to go to the EA people and ask them to fix, replace, repair the various issues with the game, but if this is an NFL licenced game... Shouldn't we be complaining to them in place of the EA teams? I bet the NFL has NO idea that gamer are not happy with this kind of stuff... Perhaps it's time to clue them in?
