With just 6 days left until NCAA Football 09 drops onto store shelves, Patrick Williams checks in with an article discussing how EA is focused once again on visuals and atmosphere. Check out his article and be sure to leave feedback on whether you think EA's focus is sound!

Quote:
"It is no secret that EA has heard the consumers' cries for more atmosphere in games. Atmosphere is a word I have typed numerous times when referring to titles such as Madden, NCAA and NHL 0, and it is something that adds so much to the gaming experience."

progressive lighting was in ncaa football 07 for 360, and it was awesome.

I had said in a previous comment that I may never buy another Madden, but the past few months have made change my opinion of the game. It just looks great and if the gameplay for ncaa is any indication it is much improved. I apologize for that remark and hope that OS forgives my ways.

On a lighter note i pre ordered ncaa for the first time ever. This will be my first attempt at playing the college game. It just looks like a great game and now i can understand the college game better. Nice.

"One thing some will really be let down about (the thing I alluded to at the start of this piece), however, is the fact that the time and weather for these football games is not progressive -- meaning they do not change as you go further ahead in the game. So if you start a game at the dusk time setting it will still be dusk the entire time you are playing the game. Something like that is a little disheartening to a details nut like me."

I've been playing through a dynasty in NCAA 07 NG recently and I *have* noticed the time of day changing. I've started several games that went from being afternoon games to night games. Did they take this out of 08?

I hate when EA adds new stuff and takes them out the next year. It seems like an ongoing habbit with them. See current gen feutures vs next gen feutures, progressive lightening, etc

I'm with you guys. This is the kind of thing that is driving me away from NCAA. The lack of new "features" and things that should be in the game are not. I could care less if it is in the Edward Jones Dome. Give me the choice to play inside of a generic dome will at least give me a better feel that having to play it on campus sites.

It may sound stupid but that is how I feel. I will always play the game but I no longer look forward to the release like I used to. I always drop Mizzou after the mandatory scheduling is up with them on the game because it does not feel right.

The little things make a world of difference to me, and EA has done a pretty poor job of these things over the last few years.

While I agree with you, if you are playing an exhibition game, just play in a bowl dome stadium, or another teams dome.

Good suggestion. I usually avoid Illinois in Exhibitions games against friends and nobody in my circle can bring themselves to be Mizzou.

Atmosphere... that's a stretch. Granted my comments have no impact on gameplay whatsoever... I think the idea of the visiting team section visible in the stadium was great. Did anyone go to a college where the home team fans cheer for an visiting teams touchdown? Show some home fans upset. Pan over to the visiting fans section going crazy. If I'm a visiting team blowing out the home team I want to see those fans filing out door. Empty seats towards the end of a game would be true atmosphere. One more thing... why are the cheerleaders the only females in the stadium? Has that sausage-fest in the stands ever been addressed?
