Madden 09 News Post

Gamestop has posted week 5 of their Madden Monday series. This week they talk about a new camera view.

Quote:
"You may have run into this scenario in previous versions of Madden NFL. Your receivers are spread out over the field and an assigned route takes one of them just off of the screen. You think he's open; so you pass that way. Since you can't see him, you're not quite sure if the corner is barreling down on him, if he fell down, or if you're completing a pass to the guy holding the down marker. The producers at EA SPORTS have given us another inside scoop on the biggest Madden NFL camera overhaul yet, the all-new ActionCam camera, which will put an end to that problem."

You think he's open; so you pass that way. Since you can't see him, you're not quite sure if the corner is barreling down on him, if he fell down, or if you're completing a pass to the guy holding the down marker. The producers at EA SPORTS have given us another inside scoop on the biggest Madden NFL camera overhaul yet, the all-new ActionCam camera, which will put an end to that problem.

Madden NFL 09 will feature a camera system that dynamically adjusts to keep all of your players in view, eliminating the need to blindly pass off of the edge of your screen and hope for the best. When you run a pass play, the ActionCam automatically pans out, zooms in, and adjust angles to keep all of your receivers on the screen.

Once you complete that pass, if the ball carrier happens to break away from his defenders, the ActionCam will rock back and forth, zoom in and follow the ball carrier, giving you that intense feeling that you're sprinting alongside him. And if a defender happens to really lay into the ball carrier, the Big Hit Camera will rattle the screen with the force of the crunch. It's like having a tiny producer in your console that constantly assigns the best camera angles.

For those of you who prefer the old camera angles, the Classic Camera System will still be an available option. The new ActionCam is just one of more than 85 improvements to Madden NFL 09, and it's just one more reason you should check out either the Standard or 20th Anniversary Collector's Editions of Madden NFL 09, which release August 12th. Remember to come back next Madden Monday for another exclusive sneak peek at Madden NFL 09.

It sounds like it's a little more involved than that, this will apparently zoom in or out as well as swinging left-right. It's also not something that is influenced by the user.

I'll try it, but I've never really had a problem with the default camera.

Cool. This had made this a rental for me. I still want to see this camera in action but if I like it then it may be a buy for Madden.

I dunno though....I don't want the camera automatically panning to the left when I want to go to the right. I wish they would just bring back the 10-12 cameras from current gen.

CAN A BLACK MAN GET SIDELINE VIEW!????? That was cool back on Madden 98

I'll have to see it in action before I know if I will like it. The idea is good, but I need to see how it is implemented.

I've heard others say that, and to be honest it's something I've never understood. Unless you're playing coach mode I would think that a sideline cam would be almost totally useless.

No I'm not, because he doesn't exist. I'm actually not one of those guys that really cares about the chain gang, but I thought this was funny.

Thats why I want to see it in the game. I knowwwwwwwww you grabbed a sandwitch, chips, and a drink and put the game on sideline view just to see cpu vs cpu action before...lol

If this ends up being like the heartbeat camera that was in the NHL series a few years back it will be a flop. I like the idea of seeing all the players but I lose interest when the rocking back and forth zoom in or big hit cam are mentioned.

That is a cool feature for me. I love cameras like 2k's Drive cam and the Pro Cam on Fifa08. If done right, a camera can really add to the atmosphere and immersion. Props.....

i agree with this point. i wish they would have it set up where you could choose the adaptive camera angle and the rocking/big it/shake cam effect separately

i'll hold off any definite feelings until i see it in motion or better yet use it myself

*on a side note MAN that grass texture looks good in those pictures

If you have a receiver to the right the camera zooms out to be able to see him, not a pan.

I dont know, the second pic shows the camera panning to the right not pulling back.

All of the receivers are to the right....It's variable based on where your receivers are. Then it zooms in for the Fifa08 Sprinting Pro Cam on breakaways.

# 17 ChicagoChris @ 05/12/08 01:54 PM
Love it. I know that it was very annoying to play last year when i could not see my receivers. This should be great...properly implemented.

# 18 BezO @ 05/12/08 01:54 PM
I liked it until they mentioned the camera rocking back & forth on break-aways. I wonder if just that can be turned off. But a camera that puts the outside receivers in view is definitely welcomed.

AMEN!!! PREACH PREACH!! Although, a fully customizable user cam like they used to have or what APF had would end it.

I like it. Also there should be more red in that crowd. It's not called the sea of red because half the people wear white.
