Madden 09 News Post

Gamestop has updated their Madden Monday with some weather related information.

Quote:
"Although some games are played in domes, football remains one of the sports in which weather can be a factor. Some of the most memorable football moments come when teams battle the elements and each other. Who can forget last year's blizzard-like Seahawks vs. Packers playoff game, or the 1967 "Ice Bowl?"

For our continuing Madden Mondays series, EA Sports has given us another exclusive sneak peek at one of the features of Madden NFL 09, shipping out August 12, as well as the 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition of Madden NFL 09 for Xbox 360 and PS3. In their efforts to enhance the drama and emotion of a real football game, they've taken on the weather."

Wow. Even prettier. EA's got the graphics down so far. Reminds of last gen when they went from 04 to 05. Everything just looked so much better. Could this be the new Madden 05. I wouldn't have a problem with that AT ALL .

You're crazy if you think EA needs your money...

Now I wanna see a screen shot from a rain game .

And for the people saying the sock lengths look different, its the black take that makes them appear to look lower.

EA may not need his money right now but they damn sure want it. They need us more than we need them, well for most people. Consumers can eventually make a difference.

I'll agree with that, except theres always the people who buy it because its the only licensed NFL game.

impressed with the player models. not everyone is all roided out. DB's look like DB's. Hasselbeck isn't a monster. it's about TIME!

I agree on both accounts.

Look carefully at the blue area between the bottom of the pants and the top of the white sock on each player. The Colts player has at least 30-40% more blue showing than that Pats guy does.

Thanx for the zoomed in pic. It does appear that the socks are lower. I hope this is an option for the final game because so many players where them that way.

Looking at the pic, it seems like the Colts are all wearing low socks while the Pats are wearing them higher. For that reason I think it might be a universal thing for each team, but I would love it if we could edit this for each player.

Cosign. Also EA might correct this by the time the game launches. I remember on NCAA they had different sock lengths on players and by the final game they were just universal to the team.

The snow and player models look great, but here's the mandatory "I want to see it in motion."

Graphics Bump confirmed. So far so good, lets see how it looks in motion and plays before I sign off on it. I'm not as sold on Madden 09 as I am on NCAA 09.

Good points.

However, it is really hard to tell from this angle if the horrible OL/DL interaction is back once again this year.

This is my biggest concern though. If they do not add a QB pocket this year, the game will not get much playing time from me.

The thing is, I do not believe the engine that they are using will support the proper player interaction to create a accurate QB pocket. They should have NEVER used that 10 year old gameplay/animation engine from the PS2/XBOX for the NextGen football games IMO.

That engine is really starting to show it's age.

Some guys are going hands on with NCAA this week so, We will know in a couple of days if the lack of a QB pocket is still in these football games.

Like you, I'll be VERY surprised if we finally will have a EA football game with a realistic QB pocket.

I just want to know what they did over there besides help get this game to run at 60fps..... this team also help with MLB 08 which looks unbelievable......

I remember reading that this was suppose to happen....with either an interview with Ortiz, Peter Moore, or Jack Tretton....

I believe that Madden 07/08 do not use the SPUs... I'm wondering if Madden 09 does....... but I doubt it.....
Why can't you just post there? Free to register? lol

I was under the impression that the next gen Maddens have been using a different animation/ gameplay engine.

Atleast I remember that being their excuse for the first couple of next gen maddens. I feel that current gen still runs smoother as a whole then next gen.
