Madden 09 News Post

Gamestop has updated their Madden Monday with some weather related information.

Quote:
"Although some games are played in domes, football remains one of the sports in which weather can be a factor. Some of the most memorable football moments come when teams battle the elements and each other. Who can forget last year's blizzard-like Seahawks vs. Packers playoff game, or the 1967 "Ice Bowl?"

For our continuing Madden Mondays series, EA Sports has given us another exclusive sneak peek at one of the features of Madden NFL 09, shipping out August 12, as well as the 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition of Madden NFL 09 for Xbox 360 and PS3. In their efforts to enhance the drama and emotion of a real football game, they've taken on the weather."

Looks like the Colts socks are considerably shorter than the Pats but more importantly that does look like an improved qb drop back. I need to see this in motion.

but trying to stay positive... maybe they're finally getting to that point where a game like what shown in the 06 commercial can become a reality

Looks like there's no footprints in the Colts/Pats game but there is in the Hasselback pic.

I remain skeptical but those are some nice screens.

just noticed that. I wonder if it has something to do with the "depth" of snow. I know, it shouldn't as you can leave a footprint in a 1/8" of snow just as you can in a foot, but I wonder if thats why we see footprints in one, but not the other.

Until you see it in motion I'd say suspend judgment. The QB's had a decent rollout animation last year. If you run a roll out play, you could capture a QB from 08 in the same pose Matt is in there. Not saying it isn't improved, but I wouldn't jump the gun either. This picture attempts to present better lighting, weather effects, and shows off better looking player models. Thus they intend for us to be optimistic with respect to those aspects of the game.

Exactly what I was thinking. Oh, do they mention anywhere about the weather effects on gameplay or does it just look purtty in replays. Not bashing yet, just asking a question.

Not so sure about gameplay( I am guessing your talking about players slipping and losing control of the ball and such), but the snow for instance will accumulate on the field and yard lines will be shoveled during the game.

That's nice, but I want the weather to effect gameplay so that you need to change your gameplan in certain conditions. I don't want to be able to do the same things I can do on a sunny day with the only difference being a white field or brown muddy colored field. I also would like to see the weather change during the game.

me too its about time that last producer did not know what he was doing ....i hope the guy from the old gen versions bring back the juice that madden had from 2001 to 2005........i hope they also give us realsim football and the graphics they promised in 2006 when next gen technology was introduced.....the screens do look good though which is not surprising it is ea

I am extremely impressed in terms of graphics. Those screens look awesome, and the fact that they took the sock lengths into account makes me really believe they are going to get the unis right this year.

Phil Frazier said they're using game footage instead of the NFL guidelines for uni combos this year.

That Packers Seahawks looks HOT.

We've heard that no two snowflakes are alike, and although we haven't seen every flake in Madden NFL 09, we can tell you the snow is more realistic than ever.
I don't know why but this made me lol

Snow looks awesome though.
