Packers Run over Bears
Chicago- Green Bay beat the Chicago Bears 49-13 on Monday Night Football. The Packers scored early and never looked back in this one. Aaron Rodgers had another 200 plus passing yard game including three touchdowns. Ryan Grant also put up another 100 yard rushing game.

Chicago never seemed to get anything going all game. Jay Cutler struggled in the pocket, and threw three interceptions. Matt Forte had a bad day on the ground only rushing for 27 yards. Chicago Coach Lovie Smith had this to say on the game. "We couldnt get anything to work right for us tonight. We need to improve on our game as a whole". "I thought we played a great game tonight" said Packers coach Mike McCarthy. "We had a few fumbles, but other then that we played a great game tonight".

The Packers will be at home on Sunday afternoon to take on another NFC North rival the Detroit Lions. Game time is at 1:00. For more information on this and all your other Green Bay area sports visit our website. www.greenbaypressgazette.com

Pack Wins In Rain

Green Bay- The Packers took home their first win of the 2010 season on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. It was a rainy day in Green Bay were both teams didnt play as well as they could. Green Bay came out on top of this sloppy game 23-7.

The game was close with a score of 9-7 at the end of the third quarter. Mason Crosby kicked a field goal in each quarter to give the Packers a two point lead. Buffallo's Fred Jackson scored the first touchdown of the game in the second quarter on a one yard run. Green Bay got both their touchdowns during the fourth quarter. Brandon Jackson scored the first touchdown for the Pack on a 2 yard run. Ryan Grant got on the board next to finish off Green Bay's scoring on a sixty seven yard run late in the fourth quarter.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said "Im pleased with the win, but not happy. I feel that our team is alot better then what we have shown over the past two weeks." "I feel like we didnt play up to par today. We had too many mistakes to come out on top" said Bills coach Chan Gailey.

Green Bay will be at divisional rival Chicago on Monday Night Football. Kick off is set for 7:30 pm. The Bills will travel to Gilette Stadium to take on Tom Brady and the Patriots Sunday at 1:00 pm.

Green Bay had an eleven point lead going into the fourth quarter where they let the Eagles come back to tie it up. Green Bay Press Gazette-The Green Bay Packers didnt put up much of a fight on sunday as they were easily beat my the Philadelphia Eagles. Philly took control the whole game, but they really shined on defense. The Eagles intercepted Aaron Rodgers twice, caused a fumble, and held Ryan Grant to only 13 yards the entire game. Head Coach Mike McCarthy said "We never showed up today. Im dissapointed with todays game, and i see that we really need to work on our running game. The interceptions I can live with because they were the result of trying to pass at the end of the game, to try and make some sort of comeback. But with saying that I dont want to see them in any game , and still want to meet my goal of least amount of turnovers in the leauge. We have alot of work today at practice."The Packers passing game looked good even though the rest of the team did not. Rodgers threw from over 200 yards with a touchdown pass. Green Bay looks to rebound next week at home against the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo comes to town next sunday, September 19th, at 1:00. The game can be seen on FOX in certian veiwing areas around the country.

Green Bay Press Gazette- The 2010 Pre Season is now history with the Green Bay Packers going 1-3. The record may only say one win, but the starters looked very strong in all four games. Most of the starters only played the first quarter with some coming out after the first series of the game. There will only be one injury going into the regualr season. LT Chad Clifton will be out for the season following a broken jaw. Head Coach Mike McCarthy said "I am very happy with our depth chart going into week one against Philly. Yea, I'd love to have Chad out there on the feild. He is a veteran team leader and a very good player and unfortunatly we have to play without him this year. We have decided to make Bryan Bulaga the starting Tackle for the year. We have alot of confidence in Bryan, and know that he can bring alot to the table. I am excited to get the season underway, and to try and make a deeper playoff push, and ultimately win the Super Bowl." Green Bay will be at Philadelphia on Sunday September 12th. Kickoff is set for 4:15.

NJ Times- New Jersey left Morgantown West Virginia on Saturday with alot of mixed emotions. Upset, disbelief, and hatred. UNJ lost to WVU on Saturday an embarrasing 45-7. Mistakes proved to be costly to New Jersey as they gave up 4 turnovers, 8 droped passes, and 4 sacks. One week early UNJ played a perfect game knocking off the then numver 21 team, Pittsburg. Now a week later things have changed. Running back Jon Kelly says, " We really need to hit the practice field and game footage over the next week. That was just downright embarrassing." New Jersey never got off on the right foot WVU took their first possesion down the field for a field goal and never looked back. Mountaineeer Stadium is ranked the number 14th toughest place to play in college football. "That is no excuse for that kind of lose though" says quarterback Mike McClain. UNJ's passing game or their defense showed up. quarterback McClain threw 3 interceptions and had a fumble. The defense could only stop West Virginia on one drive the entire game. Head Coach Steve Mariucci said he didnt have time to participate in a post game press conference as he needs to "watch film and find what we can do to correct our mistakes."
The Timberwolves will be on the road again next week taking on Cincinnati. New Jersey who now sits with a record of 3-3 with a 1-2 conference record will look to claim another conference win against Cincy.

NJ Times- The University of New Jersey had a great game on staurday to get the upset win versus Pittsburg. PITT who was ranked 21 at the time seemed to be overwhelmed in the fourth quarter to let UNJ come away with the victory. New Jersey went into half time with a 14-10 lead and came back onto the field with great confidence only to go three and out. PITT struck quickly after and made it 17-14. After that it was all UNJ. New Jersey's Dustin Ortiz scored with 1:30 seconds left of the fourth to go up by 11, and to secure the victory. To add insult to injury Tony Mills intercepted a pass, and brought it back 56 yards for another Timberwolf touchdown.
In his post game press conference, coach Mariucci had this to say. "This is what happens when we play mistake free football. Todays game is what i have been looking for all season. When we play like we did today, we are a great ball club. We just knocked off the number 21 team in the nation. I hope to keep this up as we have 17th ranked West Virginia next week."
New Jersey will play at West Virginia on Saturday the 16th. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm and can be seen on TV in New Jersey, West Virginia, and other surrounding areas.
We would also like to annouce that New Jersey has two more recruits commited to the school. Defensive Tackle Fred Wallace, and Outside Linebacker Marlon Johnson. Wallace is a 6'4 289 pound linemen from Cherry Hill New Jersey. Johnson is a 6'1 237 pound backer from Bethel Park Pennsylvainia. At the end of the season we will have a report and states from all UNJ recruits.

NJ Times- The Timberwolves have improved their record to 2-1 following Saturday's game against Florida International. This win also makes UNJ undefeated at home so far this season. New Jersey was once again in a tight battle all the way through the end. UNJ got lucky with this ween according to coach Mariucci. New Jersey had many mistakes again this week but was still able to pull off the victory.
"We had too many mistakes today. We have a bye week once again next weekend, and then we are playing USF. If we want to win our conference opener we really need to work on making the least amount of mistakes as possible. USF is a difficult opponent, and if we can cut down on our mistakes, I feel we can win the game." Said Head Coach Mariucci
New Jersey is also pleased to annouce that they have one commited recruit. Erik Hodges has commited to UNJ. Erik is a 3 star defenive end from Kingston, PA. He stands tall at 6'1 221 lbs. "I am very pleased with Erik's choice to come to UNJ. I feel he can be a great asset to us. He is a strong kid, and we could use a kid like him on our roster." Coach Mariucci said about the signing of Erik.
New Jersey will have another bye week next week. This extra week will help as UNJ greats ready for their first conference battle of the season against USF.

NJ Times- The University of New Jersey football team was on the road this past saturday to take on Ball State. This was a high scoring game which ended 49-41 after 3 overtime periods. The Timberwolves played good ball all through the game, except for one fumble during the second quarter. Playing so well gave UNJ confidence going into overtime. Mistakes which hurt UNJ during week 1 showed back up again during OT. Ball state got the ball first and the New Jersey defense only gave up a field goal. The offense took control of he ball and drove it down to the 3 yd line. It was 3rd and goal on the 3 yd line, and a touchdown would secure the UNJ victory. UNJ quarterback Ray Jacques threw a pass to wide open tight end Patrick Brittain in the middle of the endzone, but Brittain couldnt bring the ball in. UNJ then had to settle for the field goal. In the third overtime, Ball State scored in two plays. UNJ would end up being sacked on fourth down to give Ball State the victory.
Coach Mariucci after the game said. "I really thought we were the better team in this one. Our defense gave up more yards then i would of liked but I thought the offense kept us in the game. Kelly had another great game which I hope continues through the rest of the season. In the end I seen that we still have alot to work on. With our next week being a bye, it gives us more time to touch up on the things.
New Jersey will be back in action at Vincent Stadium on Saturday, September 18th taking on Florida International. Kickoff is at 12:30 pm. We will have a game preview in Friday's paper, followed by a Game Recap in the Sunday edition.

NJ Times- The University of New Jersey Timberwolves football team won its first ever football contest on Saturday. The Timberwolves played host to Eastern Michigan where they prevailed, 28-11. Things looked good early when UNJ stoped EMU on the 1 yd line on fourth down. Things quickly turned at UNJ's first ever offensive play ended up as a saftey. With Coach Mariucci ticked about the saftey the offense responed with a quick score to open up the 2nd quarter. This give Wayne Jefferson the first Timberwolf in school history to score. The rest of the 2nd and 3rd quarter were close as EMU put a field goal and a touchdown on the board in the 3rd. UNJ also had a TD of their own in the 3rd to make the score 14-11 after 3 quarters of play. The 4th quarter was all New Jersey has they put up 14 unanswered points to put away the game.
Coach Mariucci had this to say during his post game press conference. "I'm glad that we could make the schools first game a win. I'm just not happy about the mistakes. Our two turnovers were in key situations, and that saftey just irritates me. Our quarterback Ray had an interception and a fumble in key situations, but i still believe we will see great things from him. Both mistakes were early, and once he settles down he played great ball. I was also really happy to see Jon have a great day on the ground. The ground game will help us tremendously if we're having a bad passing day, or to set up the play action. I was very happy with the defense today with three sacks, and an interception. I was glad to see one of our true feshmen, Dan Hamilton get the INT. Overall I think we played good ball today, but will continue to work hard and improve on the mental mistakes for next week."
The Timberwolves will take their first road trip of the year next Saturday to face Ball State. Kickoff is set for 2:00 pm. For more info and highlights of Saturday's game and the rest of the Timberwolves scheduale, vist our website at www.njtimes.com

NJ TIimes- The coaching staff of the University of New Jersey has been getting their last minute rosters done and has finished the depth chart that will be used for week one of the college football season. Head Coach Steve Mariucci said " Training camp and summer practices are now over. We have had our public summer scrimmage, and many other smaller ones at practice. The rest of the coaching staff and myself feel that we have put together a very good football team, and can compete right away. Even though it will the schools first year with a football program, I really wont be truly happy unless we can have a winning season. With the talented players that we have on our team, I am confident that we will meet our goal for the season. We have a very solid offense with good young talent. Our QB Ray Jacques has been a great suprise all summer so far and we are expecting good things from his this fall. The fact that he is also only a Sophmore also makes us excited, because we feel that by his Senior year we could have a Heisman hopeful running our offense. I have also been very pleased with our HB Jon Kelly, who is also a Sophmore. Jon has seemed to have gotten better with each and every practice. Our Receving Corp is also a very big asset to our team this year. Ryne Davis has amazing speed and will be tough for many corners to defend. Also one of our true Freshmen Kyler Warren has been our biggest suprize of the summer. Not only did he have an outstanding game receiving during our summer scrimmage, but he also returned a kickoff for a touchdown. This kid is an amazing return specalist and with him on our kick return, I am confident that our special teams will play a big part in our game. Overall I am very pleased with our depth chart that we have set."
The Timberwolves have alot to look forward to this coming season. With the offense full of young guns, the defense has more of a veteran lineup of mainly Juinors and some important Seniors. This veteran deffense can help lead the Timberwolves into their first year in Big East play.

NJ Times- New breaking news from NCAA president Jim Isch. Mr. Isch has annouced that college football conferences will look even more different this year. Earlier in the year it was annouced that ULM Monroe would be leaving, and dropping out of the FBS 1-A to the FCS 1-AA. While the Rice Owls would be taking their place in the Sun-Belt, and the newly founded University of New Jersey would take their place in Conference-USA. Now the New Jersey Timberwolves will be making another move. Mr. Isch anounced earlier today " After many meetings with NCAA board members, and schools, we have decieded that in the best interest of NCAA football we will switch two teams to new conferences. We feel that there will be better football played and a better opportunity for the student athletes. We are going to have Syracuse University move to the Conference-USA where we feel they will be a better fit. We will also be moving the New Jersey Timberwolves into the Big East to fill the open spot."
Syracuse Athletic Director Adam Simmons said "We are very excited to make the change to Conference-USA, we at Syracuse University feel that it will be a great step for out program and hope to see great results soon."
