After the days activities fans were invited to the stadium to watch the 1st ever New Jersey Timberwolves Blue-White game. The blue team came out on top 24-14 after a very impressive game. Head Coach Steve Mariucci said after the game that he liked what he saw, and thinks fans can expect alot of good things from the timberwolves this fall. You can feel the buzz in Trenton now as the season opener is almost here. The university hasnt released who that game will be against just yet, but you can see the city of Trenton is getting ready. After the scrimmage the hype is even greater. With the success of the Summer Scrimmage, this look good so far for this newly founded team.

NJ Times- Steve Mariucci was named the University of New Jersey's first coach in school history at a press conference earlier today. Mariucci stated "When I was first approached by UNJ about taking this job, I really wasn't sure if I wanted to. I haven't coached in a few years, and last time i coached at the collegiate level was back in 1996. I wasn't sold on the fact of becoming a head coach again until i visited the campus. The facilities here are amazing, there has been alot of money put into this program and I believe it will show on gameday. Vincent Stadium is one of the nicest stadiums that I have seen. Also the list of commited athletes that we have coming in are really something. After my day here last week i really felt comfortable accepting the coaching job here." Mariucci has a large coaching career that will help him in his first year at New Jersey. Mariucci has coachd with many college football teams including Northern Michigan, Louisville, USC, and Cal. He has also been involved with many NFL teams too. He was a quality control coach with the LA Rams in the mid 80's, a quarterbacks coach with the Green Bay Packers in the early 90's, and Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers, and Detroit Lions. Athletic Director Jacob Davis finished the press conference by saying "Coach Mariucci and myself will be holding a press conference next week to reveal the team logo, colors, and other information regarding the University of New Jersey football program.

NJ Times- The University of New Jersey athletic director Jacob Davis has said "We have chosen to name the stadium to be Vincent Stadium after our past AD Andrew Vincent. Mr. Vincent was the AD and well respected member of the university. Because of his hard work and determination we were able finally finish what he started, and give the University of New Jersey a football program." Vincet's dream its starting to become reality as the final stages of the newly built Vincent Stadium are coming to an end. Mr. Davis has said that the stadium constuction should be completed by next Monday. "After next week all we have left is to get the stadium in shape for gameday come the fall." Mr. Davis said. He has also annouced that on Saturday July tenth at 3:00 p.m. There will be a team scrimmage at the new Vincent Stadium. The fans invited the attend the scrimmage and the rest of the activites that follow. There will be events for all ages followed by a fireworks display at the end of the night. Mr. Davis ended our interview by stating that the university has selected their coach to lead the team and will be introduced to the public and media at a press conference tomorrow at noon tomorrow. We will have more to this and other stories involving UNJ in the coming days.

NCAA Mix Up

College football will look a little different coming this fall. One new team, two more switching conferences. This all involves the Universities of New Jersey, Rice, and UL Lafayette. UL Lafayette from the Sun Belt will be there no more. After years of struggling seasons, loss in attendance, and financial woes, the UL Lafayette football team will drop down to the FCS(1-AA). This will leave a spot open in the Sun Belt conference which will be taken by the Rice Owls, formally of Conference-USA. Rice Athletic director Steve Matthews says "We are looking forward to switching over to the Sun Belt as we feel it will fit better our program. We seen that there would be an opening and we jumped on the chance to take it, and fortunatly for us it has worked out."
Last on the list is the newly founded New Jersey Timberwolves. The University of New Jersey which was established in 1884, will have its first try at a football program this fall. Through Many years of fund raisers and private donations. Much of these donations have been made by Ed Catmull, a football fanatic, President of Pixar, and UNJ graduate. All we know is that the Timberwolves will be taking the open spot in the Conference-USA. We will have updates on this new team to come when details are available as to logos, colors, and coaching staff.
