A College Football Dynasty: The Bruce Jackson Story
Posted on June 8, 2013 at 04:39 PM.
Hello, My name is Bruce Jackson. After many years of coaching high school football players in my home city of Lake Oswego, OR I finally have the opportunity to coach at the Collegiate level. This is my story.

Before we begin, a little background information about me. Coming out of Lake Oswego High School I was considered a 2* HB Recruit. I played well in high school and was third in the state in both rushing yards and TDs. While I didn't have big name colleges sending me countless letter to come and play for them, I was recruited. I eventually had a tough decision between going to the local Portland State University and playing 1-AA (yes, this was before FBS/FCS) or leaving Oregon and playing at the 1-A level for New Mexico. While I never did get to start a game at UNM, I did play some games and even scored a touchdown in my junior year on a 28 yard carry. After college, knowing that my chances at playing professionally were slim, I returned home and become the Offensive Coordinator at my old high school. I eventually became the head coach at LOHS and managed to help the Lakers turn around 4 straight losing seasons into 5 straight state playoff appearances (Including a game in the State Championship). My skills as a coach have been proven at the high school level, and now I have a great opportunity to become an Offensive Coordinator in the FBS.

This week, Wyoming heads to Las Vegas to take on the Rebels. UNLV is coming off a hard loss last week in Fort Collins, and should be looking at turning it around this week.

Despite Nick Sherry coming into the game in the 3rd quarter last week, coaches decided to start Sean Reilly in today's game. Despite a good start, Reilly threw a couple interceptions which made the coaches think about pulling him yet again. The coaches decided to let Reilly play the whole game, but added more run plays to try and set up the pass. By the end of the game, it was apparent why Reilly started the season as the 3rd string QB. While there were moments of brilliance, they were commonly overshadowed by mistakes and interceptions. Which ultimately cost UNLV the game.

One final week of the regular season for college football. This week, UNLV takes a trip out west and flies out to Hawaii to play the Warriors. Right before the team got on the airplane, Offensive Coordinator, Bruce Jackson, got a call. It was from HB prospect Brad Washington who decided to commit right then. Washington, a 3* prospect from Yakima, WA was the 88th ranked HB. He is 5'9, 205 lbs. UNLV and Hawaii are each looking to add one last win to their regular seasons.

Nick Sherry was back as the starting QB, and it was a beautiful afternoon in Hawaii, everything was in place for UNLV to finish their regular season off with a victory. Unfortunatly, it wasn't meant to be, and UNLV finished their season on a 3 game losing streak.
