Seattle - Even with the bats somewhat cooled off, the Mariners still found a way to put another win in the column against the Texas Rangers. Hisashi Iwakuma went 6.1 innings, and the bullpen did the rest as the Mariners got the shutout win. Brad Miller and Robinson Cano were the only offense Seattle needed in this one as Cano got the night started with a solo home run in the first inning. He had another hit in the game as well pushing his average up above .200 and hopefully turning the corner in what has been a rocky start to his Mariner career. The win puts the Mariners back above .500 and the disastrous month of May seems more, and more like a distant memory. The Mariners will see how far they can keep the streak going tomorrow as they go for nine straight against Texas ace Colby Lewis (7-3, 3.26 ERA), while throwing Chris Young (4-5, 3.82 ERA) up against him.

Seattle - Felix Hernandez continued the Mariners hot streak by bringing the fire himself on Thursday night. He matched his season high by striking out 14 hitters, with his lone blemish a two out home run by Carlos Beltran in the 8th, and after that the bullpen finished it off to sweep the Yankees right out the door of Safeco Field. The Mariners offense got it going too with six extra base hits, and really the score should've been worse, but Sabathia, and crew were able to wriggle out of danger a few times. Still it was no match for the performance that the King put in, in front of his loyal subjects out in the Kings court. The Mariners will now look to climb above .500 for the first time since they were 13-12 on April 28th, as they welcome the Texas Rangers to town, who will throw Tanner Scheppers (2-5, 6.59 ERA) to the wolves that has been the Mariners lineup recently, while Seattle counters with Hisashi Iwakuma (4-5, 3.59 ERA).

Seattle - In what has become a theme during this winning streak, the Mariners again were able to come back late and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. This time they did it without the power surge they have enjoyed in previous games, and instead used timely, clutch hitting, and good plate discipline to their advantage. It started in the 8th inning, after David Phelps had been cruising all night long, building a 4-1 lead without barely breaking a sweat giving up only two hits, but Jesus Montero led off with a single, and that brought out Matt Thornton, who pretty much imploded the proceedings by immediately hitting John Buck, who replaced an injured Mike Zunino earlier in the game. The a James Jones sacrifice attempt turned into a single after he beat out the throw, and that's when it turned real sour for New York. Stefen Romero came on to pinch hit for Dustin Ackley, and immediately laced a single to cut it to 4-2, then Thornton walked Brad Miller to force in another run, and shortly after Endy Chavez lined a two run double to put the Mariners in the lead. Seattle would end up getting two more out of the inning before it was over, lining up Fernando Rodney for an easy save in the ninth. The Mariners will now try to continue the streak tomorrow, and get back to .500 for the first time since April 29th against C.C. Sabathia (6-4, 5.25 ERA) while throwing their own ace Felix Hernandez (6-6, 2.59 ERA) up against him.

Seattle - The Seattle Mariners are suddenly the hottest team in baseball. Coming back from deficits twice in this one to finish off the Yankees, and win their 5th straight. The Yankees jumped out early with a three run 1st inning, but after that Taijuan Walker shut them down the rest of the way going eight strong. Meanwhile the Mariners clawed back with home runs by Mike Zunino, and Jesus Montero. However in the 9th inning Alfonso Soriano hit his second home run of the game that looked to doom the Mariners streak, but they would not be denied as Robinson Cano led off the bottom half with a double. After Montero struck out Kyle Seager came up and ripped one over the head of Carlos Beltran for another double that tied the game. Then with two outs Zunino came up with a huge clutch hit the Mariners have been lacking this season. He shot another one into the gap that sealed the deal on the comeback. The Mariners will try to see how far this streak can go tomorrow as they return to face David Phelps (6-2, 3.04 ERA), who is having a great season for the Yankees. They will counter with James Paxton (3-3, 3.59 ERA).

St. Petersburg - The Mariners clubbed five home runs on Monday afternoon, including two from Robinson Cano, as they completed a four game sweep of the AL East leading Rays. Stefen Romero, Mike Zunino, and Jesus Montero also got in on the fun, as the Mariners hit their season high for dingers in this one. The Rays had a couple solo shots of their own early as it looked early on that they may avoid the sweep in front of their home town fans, but Chris Young was able to keep them at bay long enough for the bats to do their damage, and Lucas Luetge, and Charlie Furbush were able to combine for four scoreless innings out of the pen to make the lead hold up. The Mariners now hop on a plane headed all the way home to get right back after it tomorrow against the New York Yankees who will send Taijuan Walker (4-6, 3.95 ERA) to the mound to face former Mariner Michael Pineda (5-5, 4.73 ERA).

St. Petersburg - The Seattle Mariners bats continued to crush the Rays on Sunday afternoon, as a huge 2nd inning led to a huge win for the M's. Brad Miller delivered the kill shot with a 3 run homer to cap the six run inning, before that the Mariners were helped by a couple Tampa errors, and an Endy Chavez 2 RBI Single. Meanwhile Hisashi Iwakuma was outstanding going eight innings before finally conceding to Danny Farquhar in the 9th to get the last three outs. The Mariners now look to complete the four game sweep tomorrow when they send Chris Young (3-5, 3.70 ERA) to the mound to face Rays ace David Price (5-5, 5.19 ERA).

St. Petersburg - The Seattle Mariners finally got the bats going in a big way on Friday night, using three home runs, and 12 hits to pound the Rays 7-4. Corey Hart did the big damage with two of the home runs, also adding a two run double. Robinson Cano got on the board as well clubbing a two run homer that put the game out of reach. James Paxton only went 4.2 innings as he had trouble locating, and the patient Rays made him make a lot of pitches to get outs. Tampa tried to crawl back in the 8th, but Dominic Leone was able to slam the door, and set it up for Rodney to pick up the save in the 9th. The two teams will be back at it tomorrow with Felix Hernandez (5-6, 2.59 ERA) taking the mound to face Jeremy Hellickson (5-1, 5.09 ERA).

Atlanta - Julio Teheran was electric for Atlanta, and an RBI single from the newest Brave Andre Ethier was all they needed to top the Mariners in this one. The Mariners wasted what may have been the best start of Taijuan Walker's young career, as he went 6.2 innings and struck out nine hitters, but he was out matched by Teheran, who kept Mariners hitters off balance all day, and did not allow an extra base hit in the game. The Mariners now get a day off before a four game series in Tampa Bay. It will be James Paxton (3-3, 3.56 ERA) taking on Alex Cobb (7-4, 3.99 ERA) in the opener.

Atlanta - The Mariners had another pitching battle on their hands, once again locked up at 1-1 late after the Braves tied it in the 7th inning on a Sac Fly, but rookie Stefen Romero followed up his two hit performance Sunday with some heroics to lead off the 8th. He battled until he got a hanging pitch from Luis Avilan that he promptly belted into the left center field seats at Turner Field, and the Mariners won their 2nd straight to kick off this southeastern swing. Chris Young was excellent for the Mariners going seven strong giving up just the one run on the Sac Fly. Fernando Rodney continued his dominance coming in for a 1-2-3 9th inning with two strikeouts in the process. The Mariners look for the quick two game sweep tomorrow when they send Taijuan Walker (4-5, 4.25 ERA) to the mound to face Julio Teheran (5-4, 3.15 ERA).

Seattle - It was a strange way to end such a well played game, but in the 10th inning it was a defensive blunder right after a defensive gem that gave the Mariners a salvage of the three game series. After a two out double by Stefen Romero, Michael Saunders came up and hit a rope that looked for all the world it would get past Ian Kinsler for the game winning RBI. Kinsler dived to his left and made an outstanding play on the ball, only to look in horror split seconds later as his throw to first sailed into the dugout, awarding Romero, who was rounding third, the advance home to clinch the victory. The Mariners will look to carry this momentum with them across the country as they head to Atlanta to take on Ervin Santana (7-0, 2.96 ERA) and the Braves, Chris Young (2-5, 3.99 ERA) will get the start in the opener.

Seattle - The red hot Felix Hernandez even wasn't enough to stop the buzzsaw that is the Detroit Tigers right now. Detroit notched their eighth win in a row Saturday night by pounding the King and his subject to the tune of a 7-1 margin. Victor Martinez did the most damage for the Tigers with a two run double in the fourth, followed up with a solo shot the next inning that effectively was the knockout blow for the M's. Who are on the wrong end of a streak themselves losing four in a row, and falling back in the division once again. Now the Mariners have the unenviable task of trying to avoid a sweep tomorrow against one Justin Verlander (5-4, 4.08 ERA), as they send Hisashi Iwakuma (3-5, 3.93 ERA) to the mound to face him.
