Is WWE 2k15 worth buying AFTER the Patch?

I have been looking for a New game and have been wondering how the Storyline Modes are in the Game. I Basically would like to take a GM type Role and watch as Wrestlers and Storylines Progress. Just wanted to gather some opinions. Thanks in advance.

If I can get it for 39.99 or less... Yes. If not no. I'm glad I got it for 40 but I don't really know what to do with it

I really enjoy the game. Universe mode is exactly what you're looking for. You can book shows, PPVS, storylines, feuds, stables, and more. The biggest thing the patch did, for me at least, was fix a glitch where save data would be wiped. Thankfully that doesn't happen anymore. I've been more than pleased with this years product. Glad to see you on these forums VT!

Hey buddy, glad to be here. I been looking for something NEW. How are the Storylines setup. Meaning is their a CERTAIN number of CAWs in each Storyline. I would like to setup some different Factions to Debut throughout the Mode. Also how long does the Mode run for? Is it just from After Wrestlemania thru Wrestlemania or Can you turn it into a Lengthy Career Mode? Sorry for all the Questions, just trying to get some info. I been posting questions on twitter, but not getting much feedback.

Universe mode is unlimited I think, or there are a certain amount of years you can play up to , like 15-20. While Universe mode seems to be good for what you're looking for, I'm telling you now, the mode leaves a lot to be desired. You can set up as many factions as you want, and you can manually book them in matches, to have them "debut" as a group, other than that, there's really no other way that actually, realistically simulates a talents "debut". You can book your feuds and rivalries, but a lot of things happen at random. Mind you for those factions, sometimes the game tends to break up tag teams for no reason at all, and make tag teams out of some extremely odd couples. There is a workaround for this, unfortunately it limits many of the tag team storylines in the mode itself, because you have to turn off the ability for teams to be made and broken up period, without doing it manually. You can turn off the random rivalry setting and everything that goes on in your universe will be stuff that you manually inserted to happen, as far as feuds and rivalries. But in order to get the feuds and rivalries to work properly, you have to set your allegiances and pretty much monitor your allies & rivalries, because the game removes some of your friends and enemies on its own will, without you even knowing about, which is why you have to monitor it. And in order to use a specific storyline, the allies & enemies has to be set to a very specific manner.

Re: Is WWE 2k15 worth buying AFTER the Patch?

You can control the rivalries, per show, but you have to 'unlock' the specific stories. Some people have been simming a year or so, so that all the stories are 'unlocked'. then, once unlocked, you can assign a specific pre-built 'story' to the rivalry. Otherwise, the game will make the type of rivalry it wants.

If you play or watch (not sim) the rivalry matches in Universe you unlock more stories. You unlock some also if you sim, but a way lesser amount. This is why people just sim a year, and then most of the stories are unlocked. You get more unlocked the more rivalries you play (or watch) - so the more shows you have, the more you can unlock per week.

The universe will either pick the rivalries or you can control yourself (delete, add new, etc.). You can only have 3 rivalries in progress, at a time on a show, I think.

If you are trying to control factions entering the universe, you'll have to keep them in 'free agent' or on a 'dead' brand (a brand without a show). This way you can move them to the brand when you want them to debut. You still may need to manually assign them a match - or you can go ahead and assign a rivalry to ensure the CPU assigns matches for them.

You also have the option to add ALLIES and ENEMIES to each wrestler (5 of each - in a ranked order - #1 = biggest enemy/ally). So, before you start your universe, you likely want to go through and manually set that for each wrestler, as well as the rivalries. This way even if the CPU makes a rivalry, it will likely use the settings you made for Enemy/Allys of each wrestler. Obviously a team or faction is going to be all friends of each other, so that's gonna take up those spots.

Sorry so long...hope that helps some though.

PS: Yes, I think Universe is unlimited...it can go on forever unlike the MyCareer which has a definite end. On the other hand, you can just use Universe as your MyCareer for your CAW, and then play it like it's a career that never ends (with some imagination, and a lot of hands-on control).

I do like to hear a little bit of Randomness is involved. Will guys just DEBUT out of Nowhere, IF you Dont set them to Debut. Like will their be 'SURPRISE" debuts at the Royal Rumble or the Monday AFTER Wrestlemania?

It does sound as if the Game has Improved alot. I am leaning towards getting it, but will wait for more details from you guys.

Re: Is WWE 2k15 worth buying AFTER the Patch?

Yeah it would be cool, if it had a 'surprise/special guest' or 'superstar debut' mode, where you could select a certain wrestler to debut at a given time, or just randomly appear during a certain time frame...but unfortunately that's still manual now. You'd have to setup alliances/rivals and then create a new feud for that show, in order to guarantee they debut. But sure...you could set that up after the Royal Rumble, or whatever and it would work.

All in all, if you played wwe 12, 13 or 2k14 and you were ok with how the Universe operated, then you'll probably like 2k15. It offers a bit more control over the 'randomness', and it improves the 'reasoning' behind some of the matchmaking...still not perfect, and it still works best if you are willing to manually control everything...or at least 'add the ingredients' (setting up your own ally/rival settings, rosters, shows, and Rivalry/Feuds).

If you clear out everyone's allies/rivals and create it to how you like, then at least even the 'random' rivalries/matches should follow what you had set up...but to guarantee it, you'd need to setup the rivalry yourself (as 1 of the 3 per show allowed - then you can select how long the rivalry to play out 5-8-12 weeks or something).

Like the one guy said though...universe does have a fascination with creating teams and breaking teams up, so you may want to stay watching for that...or even turn those story types off completely.

The best thing about this year's edition is that the matches are actually fun to play, imo. I do like getting everything 'set up' and the matchmaking part, but now it's actually fun to play as well.
