I play a lot of UT modes myself, here are a few things that should help you get started:
1)
No contracts! That's right, no player contracts are needed in DD, which is great if you aren't into the micro-management aspect of UT modes. If not, you may get bored quickly as the game modes are limited.
2)
The market dynamic is much different than UT/MyTeam. It works on a buy/sell system which is fairly easy to profit from once you learn it. If you're getting planning on spending your 12k stubs in DD, you're
much better off studying the market and investing in flipping cards than buying 12 standard packs.
3)
Player cards are upgraded/degraded depending on season performance. Whereas other UT modes release separate performance cards, DD adjusts the individual player card, meaning the card value can raise/drop significantly as the MLB season progresses.
4)
Complete Collections if you want Legends. Last I checked, you could complete lower Collections like the Rockies and Dbacks for less than 4k, these alone will help you build a decent squad quickly. Note that unlike MyTeam, you cannot resell cards once you've completed a Collection.
Have fun!
