HyperBaller/DC NBA 2k13 Signature Skills Project

We are attempting to get the ball rolling a little early this year. Signature Skills seems like a nice addition even though we feel some of the skills are a little redundant. We hope to use these skills to make each and every player play true to their real life counterpart.

Everyone will not have a skill. Both of us were somewhat disappointed reading the, "What skills will the players of your favorite team thread" because so many were just throwing out skills like hotcakes. We will not approach skill assignments as nicely.

We will be very conservative and we will assign the very best skills only. This isn't Little League Baseball, everyone will not get a trophy for showing up. You have to excel to have a skill assigned. Don't forget that we still have player ratings.

Rookies will be limited to 1 signature skill until they prove otherwise. By prove we mean that the rookie class of 2012 will be re-evaluated during the All Star Break for consideration. Until then, they have to prove themselves just like any other NBA Player. Averaging 10 APG in the ACC doesn't mean you will automatically be assigned the Dimer/Floor General Skill. New stage, new level, new day.

Some of the skills will be put on ice by us until we test them out to see how effective they are. (Ankle Breaker, Posterizer, Closer)

We will be open to suggestions as long as you provide statistical/video evidence.

The link is include please give positive/constructive feedback.

Note: Please look at the "skills & criteria" tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet to better understand our logic and data we are using. Generate you questions/concerns from there.

2k13 Signature Skills

***Update***
40% 3PT Shooting In Which 85% or more of those shots were assisted

Novak
Allen
Mike Miller
Rush
Danny Green
Bonner
Redick
Klay Thompson
James Jones
Dunleavy
Courtney Lee
Afflalo
Boobie Gibson
Kyle Korver

The following players actually met the qualifications but because of historical data throughout their careers will be placed on a probation status until enough data is gathered to determine if they indeed deserve the skill. Play Style and historic 3PT% from their careers was looked at and until they can string together enough years to change their "identity" they will not be labeled as spot up shooters.

So before you ask about the following players, just look at their percentages from previous years.
Willie Green
Chase Budinger
Ilyasova
Barbosa

Sounds neat but wouldn't it be a good idea to see how 2K distributes skills and do something similar rather than deciding that only the elite get signature skills? After all, there seems to be 3 levels of proficiency for most sig skills, so maybe the lower rankings can be given to those who are at least notable in some area.

I do agree that one shouldn't get a sig skill just because they're merely adequate at an ability but 2K did mention that some bench players would have several, perhaps even 5 to reflect their utility and versatility. I don't think anyone who is elite at 5 sig skills would be a role/bench player.

Love the idea of this project. I will be keeping my eye on this and suggest whatever I can, whenever I come up with one!

Re: HyperBaller/DC NBA 2k13 Signature Skills Project

Great News Hyper!

Im also eager to see y'alls mini-dunk package edits as well as I know how happy you were to learn that they're in the game this year.

And yeah, thats a great quote "This isn't little league baseball...SSs are not handed out like hotcakes" Even though i myself have been tossing them around a bunch to see if they fit.

@Hyperballer > If recent MyCareer Videos have shown anything regarding SSs, its that they come in different increments(L1-L3)
If this Level system translates over to the rest of the game, how will that affect your editing philosophy?

Nice to see you on board for editing again in 2k13 Hyper!

I feel like Tyreke Evans should have Acrobat. Especially if you assign one to Nick Young.

MyPlayer Mode. Nothing has been said about that affecting regular players
