An Annual Feature Fan Vote?

I will be posting this in both the NCAA and Madden forums because it applies to both.

EA has stated that the Madden Cover vote generated a lot of early interest in Madden so why don't they have a Feature vote every year for Madden and NCAA, to be guaranteed for implementation in the next year's editions?

So every year for NCAA and Madden, they start with X number of real community ideas like Spectator Mode, ratings category additions, player progression technique, recruiting system, free agent system, gameplay mechanics, NCAA/Madden collaborations, team management, coaching/play calling effects, camera views, etc and have rounds of votes to decide which feature is guaranteed to make it into the following years game.

It would ensure gamers that EA is definitely listening and implementing their ideas, as well as giving them potentially two new community requested ideas, in each game, since EA football games often share.

To clarify, I am not suggesting that those features be all they add to the games, just that they be the features completely decided by the community.

What do you think?

Re: An Annual Feature Fan Vote?

If they did that, it would make the whole Game Changers program obsolete.

Not necessarily. The Game Changers would still give feedback for whatever other features are being added and with this vote only effecting next year's game, it would give them the perfect opportunity in the future to make sure that the current year's fan feature, was being implemented properly.

So I see it more as an addition to Game Changers and CD than a replacement.

I doubt they ever do this. There is a huge risk of it backfiring if they hit a snag in implementing the chosen feature and ultimately can't get it in.

The cover is ideal for voting because there is nothing that can go wrong and prevent them from honoring he result of the vote. Unless of course the chosen player refuses to be on the cover but I'm guessing they check with all the players up for vote beforehand.

It would definitely be awesome, and to counter-act the problem that the potential feature be something that could possibly be snagged, they could only put up reasonable features that they know they can do.

Their will always be a risk, but they don't have to put in "Install Physics Engine" into the vote. As we all know that isn't an easy thing to do and it could take awhile. It could be more simpler things like rugby punts, and some of the things mentioned up there.

Even if it was the smallest thing, the community would be happy because it was something that the majority wanted in the game that would be guaranteed.

the fan vote is a marketing tool, so they can generate more buzz and get Hershey's to fork over dollars for a demo
