I hope this isn't still true I haven't played a version since 14 ('12 before). So 14 & 12 are the last two copies I've played and that and it's the very most annoying part of the gameplay.

Last week was presentation week, I saw something called hybrid. I hoped that meant taking the place their flawed broadcast option, and the new broadcast is fully continuous or at least much closer to it. However, it seems like hybrid presentation has been in for the past year or two, so I don't count on anything like that.. But! It's a sensible balance, you already have Fast Play, so Hybrid, then an untouched presentation when you choose broadcast.

I just hope it's still not similar to what it's been lately. '10/11 was the golden age for SOTS in this game, with them bringing all that kind of stuff back and then renewing the entire presentation package it wouldn't make sense to still be rushing us through the stuff with no other recourse.

Anyway, I only came here to say, I'm a vet/loyalist of franchise mode like most everyone else here, and it confuses me why they don't take the step of including a Fantasy Baseball sidegame for the season modes like franchise. I wish a system like that were there, Fantasy Baseball should be easy to add to and make all of us happy. Seems like it would be easier and just as fun for us to take part in as Diamond Dynasty.

also - Diamond dynasty, I expect to get good rewards for the progress I'll make in franchise but I don't expect to play it. However, I would appreciate it if I could send a juggernaut team representing myself online for DD players to take a shot against. That would slowly get me interested in the mode and check on the progress of the club I pull together.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Franchise Mode

I was one of those who was personally underwhelmed by the video, just like the rest of you every pitch every inning guys. However, I came to a realization.

These changes make franchise far more accessible and far less intimidating, encouraging more players to give franchise a try. This means more players getting hooked on franchise and more players caring about it. The devs will see those stats, and devote more time and resources to making franchise better for everyone in future iterations.

So even if you're not a fan of ANY of the changes, you should still appreciate that this is a good change in the long run. After all, most people don't play the Show all year long.

More people getting into the show, now are able to face a daunting 162 game schedule, More people loving the show, more people buy the show, more resources for the dev team to use in next years cycle.

It might not appeal to OS community, but it's been said time and time again by Devs, we aren't like the rest of The Show Community.

Good move by SDS, I'm sure there's more under the hood they'll touch on in Deep Dive, and it will only get better in the future.

I am guessing that the devs have pretty detailed stats and know just how often people skip the presentations that are already in the game and they realize that there is very little potential return for the extra work it would take them to implement a real time option.

It might make a handful of hardcore fans happy but is not going to draw in new players.

I really just dislike that attempted narrative because the most successful sports game in the "looks" department is always NBA 2K. To me it's not about even a continuous, long never ending gameplay, it's simply about the PS4 era and the expectations that make sense at this point. We're all aware, however, where things are at this point. Compared to it's contemporaries (F1, FIFA, MADDEN, NBA, NHL) I find it to be at a disappointing state in the past couple of years but they are bound for upgrades perhaps as early as later this month..

What makes it disappointing in my opinion, is they owned the best looks the last era without a doubt and worked hard to continue that so far with the amazing "cathedrals"/stadiums and emphasis on lighting features but they don't take the time to basically reinstate the level of presentation that they already have been capable of before.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Video - Franchise Mode

As much as I want to see a lot of the things mentioned in this thread as a hardcore Franchise player. And believe me I was also underwhelmed by the early week teasers. I still feel like the Show has a ton in it.

The gameplay and graphics are top shelf. And have been for awhile now. There's a ton of modes to satisfy every type of baseball gamer. They work hard on making it better every year and take a lot of feedback from the community. All of the things I wish EA would do. And the Franchise mode has enough in it year to year where I play it for months on end.

However, unless they reveal something really good in the Deep Dive tomorrow then it's pretty obvious there resources were dedicated to DD, ball physics, Pave your Path, and Presentation this cycle. As a Franchise guy, that's not what I was personally hoping for, but to be honest I certainly understand it. They are all things that will make the game presumably better overall for probably a bigger percentage of the people that play it. And obviously better gameplay and presentation makes everyone happier across the board.

I'm on record hoping for more out of Franchise mode for sure in the coming years, and hopefully some better overall logic from CPU controlled teams in this years game. With that being said, I think San Diego Studios do things the right way. And every year they give us an excellent game to enjoy. Even though it's impossible to satisfy everyone's wish list whether they had an 80 or 800 man team.

I just wish they would make a hockey game at some point so I could start enjoying hockey video games once again.

I skip most of the game's cutaways, especially when I'm playing poorly lol, and there are several reasons: 1 they're usually superfluous (ie, not gameplay-related), 2 they're generally not very artfully done and 3 it's time that I can't be analyzing what I should be doing for the next pitch.

Taking each point one by one:

1 Following each hit ball to it's destination gives you time to think about why it went there or just to appreciate it. There are definitely times where I'll choose to skip these moments but I'd like to have the option to let them play out.
2 It is possible to direct superfluous cutaways well enough to hold my interest. PYS does this quite well for example. Unfortunately, The Show's cutaways just aren't very visually interesting.
3 There's no reason you couldn't be allowed to analyze data during a catcher to pitcher throw animation plus perhaps an animation of the pitcher moving on the mound. Implementing this change actually wouldn't slow things down at all for some of us since we just end up endlessly stepping out anyway in order to buy time to get ready for the next pitch. I would personally love to be able slow things down even more and have an option where the pitch couldn't be thrown unless you prompted it. Kind of the equivalent of a batter shifting around in the box and then holding his arm until he's ready.
