Yeah, the team needs to enhance and improve upon this version and bring the nuts and bolts along with it.

I'm excited for it. I think the game needs a big shakeup. Just hope that some of the things they've got right in madden 17 won't go back to square one when they switch engines. They have made some good progress.

Im excited, Frostbite has been out for a good long while. When battlefield first used it the player models, animations, sounds and effects were leagues ahead of all the other games I was playing at the time.

Just please EA, listen to us, your avid players and streamers and MUTers and CFMers. Dont do to us what you have been doing for years. Taking something out, then a few years later putting it back in as a brand new and amazing feature. Were not idiots.

All in all Im very excited to see what it can do.

And to the poster who was talking about not knowing much about Frostbite. Well it has better open ends on the animation coding, so we SHOULD see better planting, movement and "Free'er err er" animations. AKA no more canned CB/WR animations. At least thats what they have touted the engine can do for years upon years that it has been out.

I'm all for Madden going with Frostbite as long as they bring back coin toss and get rid of the horrible hold button to skip cut scenes, FIFA 17 looks pretty good with it (although lighting in some stadiums are bad).

I'm hoping that the Dice team whose whole job is to optimize Frostbite for various games, can work some magic while working with the Tiburon team in terms of movement, interactions, and animations, because we know that those things have been Madden's Achilles Heel forever.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

In my opinion, EA should have continued in the same direction from 17 going into 18 and continue to work with the new engine behind it introducing it into 19. 15 was Ok. My first introduction to Madden on next gen. 16 I stayed away from watching gameplay. I bought the EA access trial and got to try 16 and was right about just sticking with 15 but when I finally got to try 17, I was blown away by the improvements and gameplay headed toward a more realistic football game and immediately bought the game right after. Basically I hope 18 on the new engine continues to build off 17 but I would have bought 18 if it was still on the same engine if it continued to refine and improved what 17 was. Looks like I will be buying another EA access trial again this year.

Re: Madden NFL 18 on the Frostbite Engine: Reactions

Quote:
– The Need for Speed team helped with the Nomand, but they also got help from the PGA Tour (you know, golf) team with 'environments and the quality of the vegetation of the grass'.

– DICE (the company that created Frostbite, the game's engine) helped too, they pitched in with the AI (since the AI in Battlefield is used to sandbox design).

– Frostbite was designed for FPS, which helps to make combat more spectacular than in the trilogy.

– Even the FIFA team helped! ME:A is using animation systems from the football game. 'It really goes both ways.'

– The FIFA expertise came in handy because for the first time ever BioWare did 'full perfomance capture'. So they captured the movement of multiple actors at the same time. And since people can change gender and party member, they had to re-record those scenes over and over in different combinations.
A few quotes about how Dice and other Frostbite using EA teams helped Bioware with aspects of Mass Effect Andromeda. So hopefully various teams are adding their expertise in Frostbite to Madden 18.
