The lack of Roster Updates are pretty frustrating already. Some moves like the Michael Carter-Williams trade & Lance Stephenson signing with the Pelicans were made in more than enough time for a update, but every Thursday you can count on packs & updates added every week for MyTeam, not every player cares about that mode.

You have make an effort to please everybody instead of advertising your latest pay wall.

Re: NBA 2K17 Remains a Solid Buy

It was a pretty good game at launch, despite all the bugs.

However, all these tweaks, tunes and patches have turned the gameplay into a mess. As an online player I'd advise you to stay as far away from this game as possible until around late December when the patches have dropped and the gameplay is brought back to a sim (or at the very least playable) state.

I also hope that this is the last year they do the September release. I won't even bother buying this game again next year if they try to do that again. I thought the Prelude was cool but don't try to rush out the full game almost a month before the normal release date just to be greedy.

Gave this game a 9 the first time I turned it on but now I'd probably give it a 7.5 due to so many broken feautures.

If this game gets a 9 with the list of broken and bugged things, then that 9 seems pretty suspicious.

Anything with that many issues can't legitimately warrant a 9 out of 10, whether it be a video game, a can opener or a car. Consumers are not that forgiving. Money is a hard thing to come by and even more difficult to let go of.

Last year's defense was insanely over-powered user-to-user. The amount of times I let players go by me on defense just so I could swat them from behind was insane. Unrealistic, as fun as it was.

This year, I really enjoy the fact that when you create space from the defender, you are rewarded. This is how basketball should work. The game is founded upon ball movement, and shot creation. I'm much more impressed with how this version of 2K represents true basketball.

If you're concerned with defense in the game, ask yourself if you see stellar defense night in and night out in the NBA. In my opinion, its the job of these games to create a simulation true to what we see in basketball today. It's the same reason why the running game in Madden feels weird. Teams don't run the ball that effectively in the NFL, yet Madden chose to create their own version of events.

I'm happy that you can take difficult looking shots, and hit them if you've created space. When you watch a basketball game, you see insane athletes making ridiculous plays. Is everyone just upset that there isn't an NCAA 2K and taking it out on NBA perhaps? To me, this version looks like the real thing, and most importantly feels like it.

As a Knick fan though, Kristaps Porzingis looks like Ivan Drago, and plays like Wilt. He needs to be slimmed down, and less successful down low.
"If you're concerned with defense in the game, ask yourself if you see stellar defense night in and night out in the NBA."

This is something I wonder about for various aspects in gameplay, not just the defensive end. The players in the NBA have a varying level of skillsets and abilities. Doing certain things in the game will be easier or more difficult depending on the player you are controlling and player you are up against. For example if you are playing defense on Curry and you are controlling Jeremy Lin you'll probably struggle regardless of how good you are at the game. Now if you are controlling Gary Payton and are defending Curry it should be a bit easier. You might not lock him down for an entire game but you should be more successful than if you are playing as a poor defender.

This goes for various other aspects of the game and basketball. You need to understand both the player you are controlling and your opponent. If you don't play to the strengths and weakness of your team and your opponent you will struggle.

As for the various problems and issues people mention I think it depends on the modes you play and how much you let these bugs effect you. I've really only played Play Now and My Team and so far I haven't noticed any issues, especially since patches released, that ruin the experience. Perhaps others that have played more modes than I have experienced much more detrimental issues but when it comes to on court action bugs and issues have been at a minimum.

I can't really speak on the online stuff, I don't play Park or any of that. That said, I've found the gameplay to be pretty solid.

The dribbling is still a little animation heavy at times, but it definitely feels better and more responsive than last year. Hopefully once I get the hang of it I'll have an easier time getting past defenders and shifting defenses. Right now I feel pretty limited offensively because of this and it can be frustrating, but I've seen enough videos of guys getting it right that I'm not ready to throw in the towel. Definitely getting tired of running so many pick and roll/fade plays though, lol.

I think rebounding and defending are both more fun this year because the ball feels a bit more alive, per say, and I really liked the addition of the skip pass.

The presentation is fantastic as well, loving the improvement on the interviews, etc, although I could still do without Coach Genero in the huddle, even though I'll admit he does drop the knowledge sometimes.

For me, it's an 8-8.5, but I really feel like my enjoyment level will go up when I get a little further through the learning curve.

Re: NBA 2K17 Remains a Solid Buy

Pro-am is a "disasta". Lag outs every game, OVER POWERED SHARP SHOOTERS THREES, scrubs scoring 50 on ridiculous hand in face shots, moving screens, OP badges, a million hours to grind, etc. Cmon. Just play walk-on for a week and I guarantee you'll pull all your hair out. This game is a casual ballers DREAM. "You mean I can practically shoot 70% from 3's no matter my shot selection? Sign me up!"

And still 2K hasn't fixed the double team left bumper glitch. Why does CPU functionality even work in an online multiplayer mode. Makes zero sense. Someone calls for a screen, and my guys footplanting turns into quicksand because of the force field affect of the screen. Inexcusable.

2K16 gameplay > 2K17 gameplay
